Early sales have seen Pink’s new single, So What (RCA), skyrocket to the number one position on the UK singles chart after just two days sales. Following a debut at thirty-eight last week based on digital sales alone, physical product has bolstered RCA’s efforts and forced the single to the top of the chart, eclipsing the early sales of Oasis comeback, The Shock Of The Lightning, which currently holds in second place.

Three steps back and at present the only other new release to make an impact on the top 30, I Love You Anyway (Polydor) by Boyzone, debuts at number five. It is the bands comeback single from the forthcoming studio album, due out for the Christmas market as they look to mirror Take That’s comeback two years ago.

While the singles chart maintains relative stability, it is already shaping up as a strong week for the albums market as labels start rolling out their big quarter four priorities. Leading the charge is Let It Go (19/Sony BMG) by Will Young which is currently holding in second place behind Kings Of Leon, Only By The Night (Columbia).

Polydor will no doubt be pulling out the punches to knock Will Young down a peg or two over the next few days as the label looks to push James Morrison further up the chart. Morrison’s sophomore album Songs For You Truths For Me is currently holding in third place ahead of Rihanna, Good Girl Gone Bad (Mercury).

Two steps back and SyCo begins its fourth quarter roll out with the release of Andrew Johnston’s One Voice album. The set currently holds at five.

The only other new entry to the top ten at this stage of the week comes from hard rock act Trivium, who debut at eight with Shogun (Roadrunner).

Elsewhere in the top twenty, Seasick Steve makes is biggest impression on the UK charts yet with the new album, I Started Out with Nothin and I Still Got Most Of It Left (Warner Bros). The major label debut is released ahead of is sold out headline show at the Royal Albert Hall this month.

Jonas Bros (Polydor) and Blake (UCJ), also make a healthy mark on the lower reaches of the top twenty.

I'm convinced now that Boyzone will be number 1 on Sunday. They've gone up the download chart pretty well (no accounting for taste I suppose - but you've got to hand it to them).

Norma

The Boyzone song is actually quite good though :o

I reckon it will be

1 Pink

2 Boyzone

3 Oasis

4 KOL

5 Rihanna

6 Katy Perry

7 Sugababes

Albums

1 KOL

2 James Morrisson

3 Will Young

I can see them being very good sales in both charts this week - Quite an exciting week really :yahoo:

My top 5 prediction is.

01 Pink

02Boyzone

03 Kings Of Leon

04 Iglu and Hartley

05 Oasis

10 The Killers

Albums

01 Kings Of Leon

02 James Morrison

05 Will Young

I'm hoping Pink makes #1 on singles (i orginally thought she'd peak at about 3, but i didn't realise how well she was doing on iTunes!) and Will makes #1 on albums. I don't think he'll topple KOL though but i'll be happy with a #2 -_-

I wanted Jennifer Hudson to do well on albums too, but neither Woolworths, Tesco or Morrissons have it in stock. It was definatley out this week wasn't it?

Boyzone are terrible, it's so cheesy and poo. I'm guessing #4 for them. (they seem to be more popular then i originally imagined)

Edited by Glyn

I would like Pink to be no1 but I have a feeling it will pan out differently.

1 Boyzone * (could be close with Oasis)

2 Oasis

3 Kings of Leon

4 Pink

5 Rihanna

6 Katy Perry

I think the Sugababes may drop from their current position in the top10 to n011.

but their 3 on I-tunes?

hopefully top 5 for the babes!

hopefully james does good with his new album!

Yes it's out. I found it in HMV, but Zavvi didn't have it :(. Very dissappointed about that. I guess if Spotlight had been around to download a bit longer before the album came out the shops would have realised it was doing quite well and would have stocked the album?!

If they don't get any in at Woolworths i'll probably have to wait and buy it next week when i go to Newcastle instead

The album chart has not been posted up
I was expecting Pink to be #1... Great for Sugas to be #4 now! :cheer: I hope they can keep their position or maybe even climb into top3... it's quite a tough week with huge older songs, big comebacks... Boyzone don't really deserve to be that high with that boring bland song!
