Commentary

Natalie Portman's Shaved Head are quite obv the best new band of 2008 with their sexual take on new rave, and Sophisticated Side Ponytail rockets 22-1 with the third highest climb to #1 this year (after Santogold - L.E.S. Artists [23-1] and Sirusho - Qele Qele [40-1]), absolutely destroying Artists Stand Up sales-wise by selling over double the amount :cheer: Camille gets shunted off the #1 spot after 5 non-consecutive weeks there and general love for the track since late June which appears to have lost its second wind of luck after its eighth place finish in the BJSC, and with Money Note now 3rd in the YTD charts the race is on to see whether it can sell the 350,000 copies needed to overtake A&E to become my favourite song of the year :o At #4 is the plain sexy Forgive Me from Leona - screw any complaints that she's getting Americanised, that chorus is catchy as :wub: Rounding out the top 5 is the glorious M.I.A. with a small stutter down two places for Paper Planes which will be seeing if it can follow in the footsteps of Money Note to become the second song ever to return to #1 twice for me, prior to its physical release on the 13th of October ^_^ The rest of the chart sees a great deal of movement, but is quite slow entries-wise this week with only two new entries from Fall Out Boy and Roisin Murphy (with FOB bagging the Tip of the Week) in contrast to last week's massive clearout with 15 new entries, which looks set to be replicated in weeks to come with 29 new entries queued up, and Britney Spears likely to lead Saturday's charge with a virtually guaranteed top 10 entry for the fantastic Womanizer :o However, aside from Britney's gatecrashing of the top 10, next week's chart looks set to be a stormer with 7 big contenders for the #1 spot - will Natalie Portman's Shaved Head hold on to their double number one for a second week, or will Sophisticated Side Ponytail's reign be unceremoniously cut short (:kink:) by So What ahead of its likely #1 in the official chart on Sunday? Other big contenders include M.I.A., Leona, Artists Stand Up, The Saturdays and Britney (in order of likelihood of getting to the top spot). Oh yes, and does anybody know how to get red wine out of curtains when there's no white wine to hand? Never invite Miley Cyrus to your dinner parties people :smoke:
