I kind of wish she'd wait til next year now, the September - December period is always tough to break if you're not from X Factor. :( Hopefully her lead single is amazing though.

A- Rihanna is one of the biggest stars in the world right now! She'll have NO trouble

B- She is one of the guests on X-Factor :P So DOUBLE bonus! :heehee:

Hopefully! :D But then you could've said the same about Britney last year and even though 'Womanizer' was fairly big it wasn't the huge #01 everyone predicted it to be. :P

I'm hopeful for her though, I'm really hyped up to hear what her new material is like!

  • 2 weeks later...
For months now, rumors have been swirling that All-American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter was working with Rihanna on her upcoming album in a partnership made in hit maker heaven. After all, Ritter already has an impressive string of radio smashes to his credit ("Swing, Swing," "Dirty Little Secret," "Move Along" and, most recently, "Gives You Hell,"), and Rihanna, well, she's Rihanna.

The only problem was, neither party had actually commented on those rumors. Until last Friday, that is. As Ritter and AAR guitarist Nick Wheeler rehearsed with Wale and UCB for their performance on Sunday's VMAs, MTV News asked him about working with Rihanna. And he was more than willing to talk about the collaboration.

"I actually met with her a couple of weeks ago and the funny thing is, I actually don't remember half of it," Ritter laughed. "I remember the first half of meeting her, but then, as the night progressed, somebody decided to drink too much Jameson."

"But seriously, she's such a sweet girl that I'm gonna try to give her a little piece of my heart," he went on. "I wanna get in a room with her, and I wanna see what flies. I've got some songs for her, like, little things written, and I wanna see what she wants. See if she wants something aggressive and rock, and I've also kinda got some really fun, clubby ideas."

But that's not the only bit of collaborating Ritter and Wheeler have been doing as of late. They apparently also wrote a song for Weezer's upcoming album, Raditude, due October 27.

"We also just did a track with Rivers [Cuomo]for the new Weezer record!" Ritter announced. "When he asked us to do it, I fell on my knees and cried. We were playing this guy's songs when we were 13 at parties."

"A few weeks ago, we [went] to his house — so that was cool — sat in a room with three guitars, and just kinda, Ty had a little idea, and we kind of riffed on it," Wheeler added. "And then we never heard anything. So we're shooting our video for our next single, 'I Wanna,' yesterday, and our A&R guy comes to the shoot with a CD of the finished version, and I was like, 'Oh, so that happened!'

"And so I shot [Cuomo] an e-mail saying what a privilege it was working with him, and this sounds great, you guys did a great job with the song, you know, stuff like that," Wheeler continued. "And he replied back, and at the end, it said, 'Definitely miss your guitar playing on the final version.' So, I saved that e-mail, and it's probably gonna stay in my star file for quite a while."

Well that should be, um, interesting. I think this albums going to be very different to what we're expecting tbh.

It must be quite tough following the major success of GGGB and with everyone's expectations so high.

I'm looking forward to hearing the new material, although I think it's going to be a lot different from GGGB.

Dunno if mentioned and I didn't read back :kink: but Play.com say release on 23rd November - has that been confirmed?
Was just about to post that  No nothing confirmed yet but i wouldnt be surprised if it was true.

This album has alot riding on it for her. GGGB was HUGE for her, and if she follows up with a flop album then it could be a career killer.

I don't blame her for taking alot of time.

Yeah I hope it doesn't have a 'My December' kind of um, success. :( Hopefully the songs will be strong enough though.
I'm really looking forward to hearing more music from Rihanna! I love the title Rated R...if that's official
My December is epic. That is all.

No more shall be said on that album.

Yeah I absolutely love the album but I was just comparing it to it as she followed a really successful album with a massive flop.

Oh ok. Sorry lol i completely jumped the gun there :P

Anywho,

Rihanna's voice and face are everywhere these days — owing to her guest spot on Jay-Z's hit "Run This Town" and multiple appearances out on the town, respectively — and she's been working on new material with Justin Timberlake, Norwegian hitmakers Stargate, All-American Rejects' Tyson Ritter and U.K. duo Chase & Status.

Later this month, she's slated to hit the studio with Tricky Stewart, who (with frequent collaborator The-Dream) helmed her 2007 breakthrough hit, "Umbrella," now the producer has revealed that he plans on working with the singer again on her forthcoming album. Although the pair has yet to hit the studio, he said that the songs he's been working on for the singer are ones he's "in love with" — and he hinted the singer might be releasing new music before the end of this year.

"I do believe it is [going to drop this year]," Stewart told RapUp.com. "We're actually just getting started. I just wrote some records that I'm in love with this past week.

"Rihanna and I will be getting in the studio sometime in the next two weeks, so we actually have not recorded anything for her new album yet."

At press time, reps for Rihanna had not responded to requests for comment on the status of her new recordings.

Stewart explained that despite the success of "Umbrella," they have no intention of trying to repeat that song's formula.

"Man, you know we can't do that. We come out with something that sounds like 'Umbrella,' they're gonna be saying that we tried to do something that sounded like 'Umbrella,' " he said. "That's not what the great artists do. They don't even allow you to do stuff like that. Every great artist always wants to hear something they've never heard before."

Stewart also said that Rihanna hasn't changed since they first started working together. "She's just a pleasure," he said. "She's a very sweet, down-to-earth person. You would never know how successful she is 'cause she's just so nice and warm. I guess maybe it's her background of being from the [Caribbean]. She's just a really sweet, warm person to be around."
