Thanks for that! Just downloaded Diana  AGAIN  (Not twice I meant I downloaded her performance last week too )

LOVED Ruth's second performance.

GA were incredible, so much pressure but they had such an amazing performance,

Sorry I don't agree with that, people properly jumped on Leon for being 'the worst thing on the show last week' when vocally, he wasn't at ALL.

Girls Aloud were among the worst vocals of the night - and I like them, and their song. Only Nicola really got her bit right for me - that and the chorus (which I agree seemed mimed)

Result? Daniel aside, the right one, they just weren't strong enough, which is a shame as they were nice girls. Thought their Aerosmith performance was nothing on their second performance last week - and certainly nothing on Ruth's amazing Purple Rain - she totally nailed everything this week, fair play to her!

Not sure about Big Band week, I love the style but it's just so typical for them to do on X Factor, I want to see some more contemporary numbers... however I hope Alexandra can put in an amazing performance..

Oh god. Get with the times.

The GA performance was f***ing pathetic. Sorry if that like offends you but it was. So out of tune especially Cheryl.

Forvever Sarah i say. She was probably pissed when performing but at least she sang in tune.

I do love The Promise though <3 Just thought i'd add that incase you started on me like the little GA obsessive YOU ARE.

Yeah someone pointed that out in the GA forum not long ago, A few GA Fans on here seem to think they have to LOVE EVERYTHING to do with GA even if they're poor. I personally liked the performance (Although Cheryl and Kimberley were bleh...) but it was far from "AMAZING!"

^ I noticed that a long time ago. Quite cringeworthy to read to, it's enough to put anyone off GA :/

Anyway I really liked Alexandra tonight, the standout for me I think! Diana was also really good. I think them two are the ones I want to win the most. ^_^ Girlband was the right choice to go really, hopefully it's Daniel, Scott or Eoghan next week though.

I'm sorry ... but the thought of Robbie's Swing album has made me want to vomit! I can only take Swing when it is sung by a man in his 40's (at least) with the world on his shoulders, fag in one hand, genuine scotch in the other (and with no friggin' girlie ice). In other words ... Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet or Sammy Davis Jr. This music is in a time capsule of its own and should be dug out of one's record collection ... like some millionaire would dig out a fine wine from his cellar and savoured. If a superstar like Robbie Williams can't even get it half right ... what friggin hope in hell can this lot do? Having said that ... this is Daniel's time to come to the fore ... at least he has advanced years on his side!

I like Robbie Williams a lot but IMHO his Swing album is very poor as it exposes the more hammy aspects of his vocals when you compare to the likes of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, etc. In contrast I'd love to hear Will Young attempt a Swing album as I think his voice suits that material.

I've got to say that I was surprised (Nicola aside) by how poor Girls Aloud were singing The Promise, especially Cheryl who only seems to be a judge to make Dannii - 1) Look old & 2) Seem musically knowledgeable & intelligent. Ruth was amazing singing Purple Rain.

I've seen them live in concert and they were better then but they were still AMAZING!

Ruth's performance of "Purple Rain" was brilliant.

I've gone from not caring for her to liking her!

Me too though I doubt he'd do it with it having been done to death. :( The tone & delivery of Will's voice is perfect for Big Band numbers. Was fortunate to be at a set he performed at Ronnie Scotts & he was outstading.

LOL lol lol.

They where the worst out of the whole show!

My order of last nights performances -

1.Austin - did really well tonight he just performs brilliantly

2.Diana - just very unique, my favourite overall in the compition

3.Laura - best last week, excellent again tonight, my fave MJ song.

4.JLS - brilliant performance, hope they do a big ballad next week though to show their amazing vocals

5.Alexandra - very good vocals but I did think it was a bit boring, still she is one of my faves.

6.Scott - much better than last week, vocally really good, good emotion, still dont hope he stays that long though

7.Rachel - she sounded amazing at the end, but she needs to do a big soulful ballad, still very good

8.Ruth - better than last week but it was still pretty average

9.Girlband - c**p song choice, sounded alright,

10.Eoghan - song far to big for him, he constantly sounds strained and I just don't think he has star quality, he's not even that cute either, unfortunatley I think Louis might be right about him being in the Final

11.Dan - utterly boring, yeah he sounded pretty good but I don't get how anyone could vote for him, he will not sell records at all, Steve Brookstein Version 2.

-------------

Ruth's 2nd performance - Absolutley amazing, I think she suited the rocky sound very well and imo the performance of the night so far! hope she gets a better main song next week, but I don't think she will last long at all in this just because she is Spanish and the UK public don't get her.

Girlbands 2nd performance - their best so far, really strong, the blonde girl is an amazing singer imo, still I don't think their anything special.

Don't think Girlband should have went, but Obviously Dan and Eoghan are gonna keep going through for a while due to sympathy and cute votes. hmmm

I know it's a bit late, but I love how Simon criticised Cheryl and Alexandra for singing Whitney and now a Mariah arrangement in the first two weeks when he did practically the same thing with Leona two years ago and look where that got her.

Leona did the Mariah arrangement of "I'll Be There" on Motown week. She also did the Mariah version of "Without You", the Whitney versions of "I Will Always Love You" and "I Have Nothing". Then she also did "All By Myself" and "Lady Marmalade" that have been covered by Celine Dion and Christina Aguilera respectively - two other big dvias. She also covered Elton John, Simon and Garfunkel and Cat Stevens but the point is that it's a bit early for him to be saying Alexandra is being given very predictable songs when he gave Leona a Mariah, Whitney or another big diva number at any opportunity.

As for the performances - I think Alexandra and Diana were my favourites again. I really want Alexandra to be my favourite, but I think there's something with her voice that just isn't strong enough. I realise that what Leona has is quite rare, but I find myself comparing Alexandra to her and her voice seems so weak in comparison. Even when she seems to be giving it her all she doesn't begin to match her voice and singing a song Leona did just highlights this to me. I wouldn't be surprised if she was one of the 'shock' early exits while the likes of Daniel, Eoghan and Scott sail through with considerably less talent.

Diana just blew everyone out of the water again in my opinion. It was interesting to catch up on here and see the pre-show comments that her singing 'Man In The Mirror' was 'suicidal' for her chances in the competition and it ended up being quite the opposite - it showed how she can seem to tackle any song, no matter how strange it was for her.

Disappointments for me were JLS and Rachel. They weren't the worst performances but I expected better from them. JLS didn't sound right to me, the choreography was good but that was about it - I much preferred the version Maria Lawson did three years ago. After last night, I think Dannii is better at picking songs for Rachel than Rachel herself. If Rachel wanted to go down a Rock route, I think she should have done a Fall Out Boy style cover of 'Beat It' as her performance of 'Dirty Diana' didn't seem to go anywhere, it was alright for what it was but it didn't really stand out.

Rankings after last night:

1. Diana

2. Alexandra

3. Laura

4. Rachel (still a disappointment as she should be 1st/2nd)

5. Austin

6. Ruth

7. JLS

Girlband

8. Scott

9. Eoghan

10. Daniel

It was a pretty shit night tbh. I thought the theme was Michael Jackson week, yet what we had was (again as every week), Ballads Week! And not forgetting MJ songs with Mariah Carey + Chris Cornell arrangements. It's just pretty pointless and boring. Is it me or has Simon REALLY lost it? :/ I agree with Louis more than Simon these days. Oh and the contradiction at the end still amuses me. "I will judge on the two based performances coming up". and then, "I think I'll put it to deadlock" without once acknowledging the best performance of this series so far.

This weeks order of performances for me:

1.Diana

2.Laura

3.Scott

4.Alexandra

5.Austin - not a bad arrangement but nowhere near as good as David Cook on AI

6.Ruth

7.Rachel

8.JLS

9.Eoghan

10.Girlband

11.Daniel :puke2:

Diana & Laura best by miles. Diana is so unique  . Laura has a hint of Duffy in her voice at times. :cheer:

Can't understand why Ruth was in bottom 2 yet Daniel went automatically through.

He should have gone home. He is consistantly the worst every week.

Off the performances so far The 3 finalists for me should be - Diana, Laura and Scott or Alexandra

Ruth should have won the whole show based on that BRILLIANT performance of Purple Rain. I wouldve given ANYTHING to be in that audience when she performed that. That performance was nothing short of BRILLIANT.
yeah, she just needs to perform like that every week now.

I really want her to perform Sway this week. Or Feelin Good. Sway is a safe choice, but with Feelin' Good she could really go for it.
