Happily, Martin!

All I Wanna Do @ G-A-Y [July 08]

^The vocal on that one starts about 30 secs in.

Who Do You Love Now? [Date unknown]

Some of the others will take a lot of finding but she quite obviously can sing live. :/

Your ears must be deformed because she can sing live, and very well too. You only need to youtube the video of her doing All I Wanna Do at G-A-Y's last night this year to see that, and there are plenty of other examples too.

I guess with Dannii having a more successful sister and all, though, it's very easy for the close-minded to hop onto the hater bandwagon.

hardly - I think Dannii's records are infinitely better than Kylie's - but a live singer she aint. Not that I'd expect you to know the slightest thing about great vocalists, Jark.

Whilst I agree that she's not always great live (shes very hit-and-miss actually), she has her moments and lately especially is rather good indeed. I see more as an overall performer though, so nay matter.

And I'd not expect you to know anything about anything at all, other than what position makes shoving your head up you-know-where the most comfortable.

err...she sounds like a teenager in her bedroom singing into a hairbrush! Even to the most waxed-up ears, you can tell she's using Autotune - AND - she's singing along to a vocal backing track (listen to how flat she is in parts - even with Autotune! Something I thought was impossible, actually) :D :D !

Jark - seriously, you really need to find a better clip than that if you want to try to prove a point, because that clip's laughable.

It sounds like fan loon excuse-ville but a lot of the ones I looked for have gone from youtube. I Can't Sleep At Night on Australia's Sunrise in 2006 is particularly good, but alas taken down recently. Still, that one is nowhere near 'laughable'. It's strong, just not her best.

Oh dear - Jark's flapping his arms and getting into another camp lispy girlie foot-stamping fit again - it's most unattractive, Jark - and anyway, you've been warned about personal insults before - don't you remember?

I've said before - I think Dannii's a far better producer of music than her sister..... she works with better people, for one thing. But she can't sing.... ok, sometimes she's passable - but she's not in any position to give advice on singing to anyone, really, let's be honest. But then, neither is the WAG sitting next to her on that panel, but that's another head-shakingly ironic story.

I seem to remember I was warned, but it was not by anybody of any authority, it was by you, who was not only powerless to do anything about it but who was also both laughed at for it and had done the very same himself. So sorry to have to remind you of that...must be a tad embarassing. You're no doubt used to embarassment though.

And have you really find no better insult than this tedious, irrelevant and misinformed 'flappy-armed' malarky? And whilst we're playing question time, I thought you had done us one final, and only, good deed, and left us? You seem to be back, in the vain of a foul smell which lingers, sometimes causing only slight displeasure and sometimes full-on distress.

Next.....

Indeed, you are too weak to give me a response.

Anyhow, back to the subject in hand. What's the betting Girl Band will be in the bottom 2 next week? Is it likely? I can't decide. On the one hand they're not going to garner public support but on the other it's rare (unheard of even?) for an act to be bottom 2 for the first 2 weeks running...and obviously both Daniel and Scott deserve that position.

It happened with Hope last year I believe they were in the bottom two most the time last year weren't they?

I think Scott has more chance of improving; it was difficult to tell whether he was bad or whether the song was bad.

Daniel however had as reasonable a choice of song as he's probably going to get, and it still just wasn't up to scratch.

I wouldn't be surprised if both survived a way into the contest though. The public LOVES the bullied underdog.

There's going to be pattern I think; they'll give awful or mediocre performances, Simon Cowell will give the honest and truthful opinion, the mindless audience will boo and heckle Cowell for being a bitter arse, and the grannies at home will pick up the phone to sympathy vote.

And we will probably lose the likes of Diana, JLS and Ruth whilst this is going on. :(

No Jark - not weak, just bored - you're a kid playing with adults, remember - plus, camp men make me feel pitiful, not spiteful, sorry.

Once again... next...?

This happened two years back with the MacDonald Brothers. Decent acts left the competition whilst these out of tune tossers made it all the way to the final 4.

Alisha was in the bottom two for the first two weeks last year because the judges kept saving her and she turned it around with her performance of 'Valerie', only to be eliminated two weeks later. I expect Girlband will be in the bottom two again next week, but hopefully it will be Daniel and someone. -_-

Anyway, about the performances. I'm not sure who I like the best yet, but it's obvious to me that Cheryl has the best category by far - all three were excellent tonight while the other judges all had at least one let down act.

With Rachel I disagree with those saying it was a bad song choice. It wasn't. What could have been better was how it was performed. Dancing around men who were like statues, the dancing she did on her own and the awful backing singers made it look bad. I think it would have been much better if she was standing behind a microphone singing it with emotion - like Diana did. Like someone said, it's meant to be an emotional song, but after that performance I would agree with Simon and Cheryl by saying it was a bit 'cheap and rubbish'. There were elements of it where I could hear that it had the potential to be a great performance but it was just a bit bad altogether.

- Laura sounded a heck of a lot like Gabriella Cilmi I think. I'm not sure that she's my favourite yet, but I think she could be.

- Alexandra was a bit of a let down for me even though she didn't do anything wrong in particular. I know she wanted to do something uptempo but I don't think it stood out enough, hopefully she'll get a ballad to blow us away with soon.

- I hate sob stories but for some reason I really fell for Scott's tears and I really didn't want him in the bottom two. Aww, I've gone soft. I would hate for him to go on to win though, he's not as bad as Leon but it's essentially the same thing.

- Diana seems a bit Norah Jones-esque. I really don't like the whole Norah Jones/Dido/Katie Melua type, but I think Diana is alright.

Anyone else was either awful (Daniel, Austin etc.) or just good/average.

I thought JLS were really good, same with Diana. They were very off-key to begin with, but they won the song around in the end and it came off really well.

Rachel was complete and utter $h!te. Whether it was the wrong song or now i'm not sure, but f***in hell, these judges are being payed thousands of pounds, yet they've f***ed up so many song choices this week.

I didn't get Diane before, but I loved her tonight. I would most definetley be interested in illegally downloading her music. Her voice is interesting.

same here :o

I think it's pretty clear who i want to win... SO FAR :heehee:
I'm watching X Factor again and I felt really sorry for Dannii when Simon laid into her about Rachel's choice of song. Yeah it wasn't brilliant, but Simon was really harsh on Dannii at least it was a much better performance than Scott's :puke:
