Rachel's performance was good. Was she high?

Owen's performance was alright. Not good, not bad.

What an AWFUL show! 99% down to the song choices! It was only Rachel (Dirty Diana), Diana (Man In The Mirror) & JLS (The Way You Make Me Feel) who got it right. Where was Thriller, Earth Song, Beat It, Say Say Say, Scream, Black or White, Smooth Criminal, They Don’t Really Care About Us, Bad, Leave Me Alone, Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’???
JLS were very good and Diana was of course incredible, 2 brilliant acts there. Rachel and Eoghan were both very very average though, i agree with Cheryl about Rachel's song choices though, she need to do some soul next week. Eoghan was out of tune and flat.

Rachel:

A brave bold performance the most ambitious of the night but that did not quite come off. I wonder whether she based that on Terence Trent D'arby's version of Dirty Diana as it was much nearer that version than the MJ original? Am I the only one who noticed he called her Diana before criticising the performance = wishful thinking on Simon's behalf towards the previous singer? 7/10

Eoghan:

Taking on MJ's 1973 classic Ben, that was a very good, solid, safe Westlife/Gareth Gates vocal performance. Therefore I absolutely hated it but I think and fear it will be between "Owen" & Laura for who is going to win XF 2008 with my favourite Diana being eliminated in 4th or 5th place. 2/10

Rachel: Hmm......not sure if it was the best song choice.......her vocals were outstanding but it wasn't enough, I couldn't really hear what she was singing either and I'm not sure if the majority of the public will get this song. However she was very unique in her song choice and I did like how it was one of the songs I hadn't heard before. The terrible part is she has an amazing voice....but she could be in trouble tonight :( 5/10

Eoghan: A bit boring if I'm honest......the song was too simalar to last weeks....we need something different! 5/10

Rachel pulled that off! It was goooood. I love the girl, she's so funny. All that talk of 'being humbled'! Girl's a goddess!

Voted for Ruth. Also LOL @ Simon tonight. What a foul ar5e of a mood he was in! And he got a name wrong again! Louis was on fire though, how unusual. Dannii was fabulous as ever and even Cheryl was quite chirpy.

Dannii Minogue looked stunning as ever tonight I must say !

voted twice for Ruth tonight and once for Girlband as i thought they had an awful song this week and want them to have another chance :(

my rankings tonight

Ruth

Laura

Alexandra

JLS

Austin

Scott

Girlband

Diana

Rachel

Eoghan

Daniel

My favourite of the night - Rachel - I thought her choice of song was brave and the execution very good.

Worst - Oliverbrat - what are the studio audience and judges hearing - does it really sound that much better there than on the TV - because he hit lots of bum notes and he was just plain 'shoite!'

I quite liked Austin's version of Billie Jean too.

Daniel can take comfort in the fact that he wasn't the worst on the show tonight and the thanks for that goes to:

Oliverbrat, Girlband and Scott.

Norma

01 Diana Unexpected song choice, but totally worked in her favour!

02 JLS Suited them well, nice song, good harmonies.

03 Austin Bit pee'd that he done a Chris Cornell arrangement on an MJ week, but it was quite epic/dynamic.

04 Rachel NICE nice song choice. And the 'rocky'-side really worked for her. Would like to see her cover 'I'm Doing Down'. MJB

05 Scott Miles better than last week. He has a nice tone!

06 Ruth I thought she would struggle, but I was surprised they found a song that would work for her. Although the public won't get her.

07 Alexandra Same as Austin. Pee'd that she chose Mariah Carey arrangements. All she had to do was choose a different song.

08 Daniel Awful song. Very pub like.

09 Girldband Awful song. Hated the blatant cheesiness of the whole Bono/Geldoff 'lets save the world', as if they actually care! It's a music talent show.

10 Laura She gets totally bum raped by everyone. :/ She's rubbish. LOL at the song choice again.

11 Eoghan Flat, Boring, Predictable

Sadly, Laura and Eoghan won't go. Daniel will.

Awful show. [song choices mainly!, is it going to be ballads week EVERY week? :/ ]

The boys this year are just hideous  a girl HAS to win surely.

Diana is easily my favourite as I find her unique and interesting.

Alexandra DID perform the Mariah version of the song, the ad-libs were sung almost identically to Mariah's version.

From fave to $h!te...

01. Austin

I HATED every second of Austin in the auditions, but he's really turning it around in the live shows. I liked the arrangement, but I thought Austin's performance was the best thing about it. Maybe he does try too hard, but I think that's what carried it off tonight, he didn't just sing he PERFORMED.

02. Alexandra

Pretty much a flawless vocal. But she's yet to be given a song where she can REALLY stand out and distinguish herself. I think the X Factor team are in danger of scuppering her choices by turning into a bland Leona Mark II.

03. JLS

I think I was always going to be bias towards this because after dozens of sodding ballads, I was desperate for something upbeat. As someone pointed out earlier, Michael Jackson's best songs were his uptempo ones. I was impressed mainly because at this stage thery're the only ones who seem to pull off the singing AND the dancing. And they really do have a likability factor, which tends to be lacking in most boybands.

04. Diana

Maybe not my favourite tonight, but overall I'm with thisispop, DIANA TO WIN.

She's not the best vocalist, but what stands in her favour is that when she does have the odd off-key moment, it can easily be disguised and passed off as one of her vocal quirks, and you would never know any different. I don't think she's going to win, but she's the only one so far where I could see myself wanting to buy a record of hers. I LOVE her folky style. The others are all blatantly going to be pushed down the usual schmaltzy ballad/generic pop star route we've heard 10,000 times before, but not Diana.

Tonight though, I think she maybe overplayed the yelps a bit.

05. Ruth

I can sort of see both Simon and Dannii's point of views. I don't think she should sing in Spanish every week, but I think it would only help her to get in a bit of "ethnic" a la Nelly Furtado. If Dannii insists in plonking her with the same material as Alexandra and Laura, she is going to lose out.

06. Scott

BIG improvement, I hope that really is the end of the bluecoat.

07. Daniel

He's not AS atrocious as people make out, I just think he's unlucky because the general standard IS higher this year. Started off as the usual pub singer, but I thought he was quite good at the end.

08. Girlband

They're not going to last much longer, there is just NOTHING to set them apart from any other girlband we've seen in the X Factor so far. And the performance was far too sickly sweet.

09. Laura

I think she's slightly overrated. She's a good singer but I wouldn't rate her above Alexandra, Diana or Austin. The song was a HORRIBLE choice. Yes she managed it well at the end because she had the opportunity to belt it out as per usual, but the beginning just didn't sound right at all.

I'm sure I'll like her more when she gets the right song. I was thinking she sounded like Gabriella Cilmi in places, maybe a Sweet About Me wouldn't go amiss?

10. Eoghan

I know the X Factor isn't all about having a belter of a voice, but Eoghan's was so weak I was expecting him to just give out completely at moments. Unfortunately I can see him winning this thing, thanks to the grannies mistaking the show for the Cute Factor.

Also I HATE Ben, despite the comedy of a slushy song about a rat.

11. Rachel

What is going wrong? She was the one I was really looking forward to pre the live shows. But both weeks she's sung out of tune. I also don't like the way she clips the ends of the words off too quickly. Just AWFUL. But I want her to stay in, purely because I'm hoping she'll throw a wobbler on the live show at some point, and I want to see the judges and the production team PANIC as it all falls apart around them.

Next week Simon HAS to give Scott a ballad to showcase the talent that is definitely there... and I can see him doing exactly what he did this week again - that is giving an American Idol performance (Eoghan's (good but) copycat performance of David Archuleta's Imagine) to one of his contestants to copy note for note. I'm predicting Austin to do a David Cook style Billie Jean.

Just wanted to quote this from Monday to show how predictable Simon Cowell has become... it was so obvious he'd give that track to Austin, and I also noted on UKMIX that he'd give 'Ben' to one of the boys (another song he has done before) - though I did predict he would give it to Scott..

To have a go at Cheryl based on her 'obvious' song choices - as she rightly pointed out - is ludicrous!

Dannii Minogue looked stunning as ever tonight I must say !

Didn't she just?! I wasn't going to say anything but since you have, I will :P The red tint in her hair really suits her. She's making loads more effort than Cheryl on these live shows. Team Minogue ftw!
