No new album tracks then. :( Missed it sadly, will have to wait for youtube.

If I were Island I'd cancel the CD release now. There really isn't any point spending money on pressing CD singles which will make them a loss in the end. A third single is pretty pointless now too. Hopefully they cut their losses and move on to the next album.

I wonder how much of a loss Island have made on this entire project :o

Not as much as could've been lost... two cheap music videos, inexpensive producers, nothing lost on artwork... promotion will have been the only big expense surely?

ugh why do people insist on going on like this, this album is not over yet and they wouldn't have lost any money. They have made some money on Girls and the album and soon they will have done on No Can Do.

And i would just like to say that it would be more of an embarrassment if they didn't release a third single than if they did and it didn't do very well because people would lose respect, you've got to remember the Sugababes are an established band who have sold 5 million plus in Britain alone.

This is a bit random but i thought i'd tell, i just saw a advert on an advert for Akon and he's only sold 8 million worldwide.

^ None of what you said makes any sense. Why won't they have lost money? The cost of pressing CDs, paying for promotion, the cost of shooting music videos (which are never cheap). The cost of press, sending out promos. The wardrobe for them. Composing the live band, paying for instruments. The general cost of their team i.e. PAs, transportation etc etc. It's all going to have cost Island money. 'Girls' hasn't sold particularly well and nor has the album. There'll be a definite loss there.

Oh and Klas isn't really a cheap producer. Certainly not big league but he won't have come cheapy cheap.

Girls has sold almost as much as hole in the head did. and that song wasn't classed as not doing very well.
No Can Do down to #84 on itunes.

I don't think they would have lost that much so far tbh! 'Girls' has sold around 130,000 and the album 70,000 ( :o  ) so whilst it has not been a huge success so far it is certainly not a total disaster!

I have a feeling Island would have lost alot of money on this. I mean, i know it was 10 years ago, but in Billie Piper's autobiography she says that an album has to sell roughly 500,000 in order for the whole project to breakeven. (This is why alot of independent labels can't compete anymore, cos cd sales have gone down and so they can't cover their costs). There's not really any money in singles, yes they bring a return, but they are there to support the album.

And although the two videos don't have the most expensive budget in the world, it still costs. By the time you've paid - director, cameramen, sound, lighting, security, dancers, props, costume - its a massive team and it really winds me up when people say not much can be spent on it, just cause it looks c**p. - All of those above would have needed paying for their time. (I'm an actor, have trained in New York and know the hard work that goes into these sort of things)

The record company also pays to get their artist onto tv shows to perform, so again costing money - and the amount of big TV shows the Sugababes have been on recently would have cost a fair old whack.

Then there is the album itself. They have to pay money to record in the songs in the studio, they are using the producer's time, co-writers time and others that are around them so of course they need paying.

And no matter how $h!tty the artwork is, they still had photographers taking photos of them, which again, they need to be paid for along with the design team who have put together the artwork.

And then there is the record company, who actually get the record out there to the public. They work constantly in getting their artists out there, and they need paying as well - whether they've done a good job or not.

I hope this doesn't sound like a rant, but i just feel that some people can be quite naive to the real ins and outs of what actually happens in the process of getting a song out there. I remember when Delta Goodrem had just released "In This Life" in Australia, and she said "no one knows the mission it is just to get a song to radio, before its even released". I hope this goes in someway of explaining it, and how much time and money it takes up. Its something that some some people are quick to dismiss, but i feel should be known. Again i hope this doesn't seem like a rant, and this post has gone on far longer then what i intended, - and there's probably loads of people that i've missed off.

^ Yeah Island are going to have lost a huge amount when all costs are taken into consideration. They'll make what? 10p a download? Then with the album something like £1 per copy? NO WAY does that make their money back.

I think the problem here is that Island have set a budget for them which is akin to their most major artists. I.e. big promo and big sales (I bet they were looking for 500k in the long term). So they've had a blow out with the cash and pushed this record/the Babes but with little fruition. It just hasn't caught on.

I suspect whoever is their Boss at Island and is calling the shots is OLD. Too many old and out of touch men make decisions and call the shots now. Younger, fresher people really ought to be allowed up...

#86 now, but there is a consolation, GA down to #72 and Saturdays down to #42.

so at least the No Can Do isn't the only one to fall.

thank you. I'm not a big actor myself, i've done tiny little things but nothing major. I didn't really want to say that but i didn't want the post coming as if i'm hating on Sugababes cos i'm not, its just i get frustrated when alot of people don't really consider the time and effort and money that goes into these projects, and are quick to blame all of them without realising the hard work they all put in

i 100% agree with you there

only one cd aint gona help :o

totally. But that's the policy across the board now isn't it! I mean, how many singles out in the last 3 months have you seen which have got 2CDs? Even this time last year it was pretty common. Even Oasis who are huge physical sellers only have 1CD now, and GA are the same and they always had 2CDs before from what i remember. Sure Oasis could have scrapped top10 with a 2nd CD- their fans are hardcore and most would've bought both (though the sales gap between 10 and 12 last week was weirdly large)
