Posted October 21, 200817 yr 10:33 | Tuesday October 21, 2008 Source: MW By Ben Cardew AC/DC have taken an emphatic lead in the race to the top of the albums chart, with Black Ice (Columbia) outselling Kaiser Chiefs’ third album Off With Their Heads (B-Unique / Polydor) by more than two to one. The album, the band’s first in eight years, sold almost 45,000 copies on its day of release, while the Kaiser Chiefs’ Mark Ronson-produced set shifted almost 18,000 copies. Also challenging for the top ten of the albums chart this week are Leon Jackson’s Right Now (Syco), Katherine Jenkins’ Sacred Arias (UCJ) and Sugababes’ Catfights And Spotlights (Island), while Sash’s The Best Of (Hard2Beat) and John Legend’s Evolver (RCA) should secure top twenty births. On the compilations chart two of the sector’s biggest brands – Walt Disney’s High School Musical (released through EMI in the UK) and Radio One’s Live Lounge (released by Sony BMG) – are off to strong starts: High School Musical 3 sold almost 24,000 on its first day of release, while Live Lounge 3 sold just over 12,000, both way ahead of their nearest competitors. On the singles chart Girls Aloud look set to unseat Pink’s So What (LaFace) from the top of the charts. The girl band’s Promises (Fascination) sold more than 24,000 copies on day of release, to So What’s 12,577. Razorlight’s Wire To Wire (Vertigo) looks certain to leap into the top five this Sunday, where it should rub shoulders with Kings Of Leon’s Sex On Fire (Hand Me Down) and Geraldine’s the Winner’s Song (Polydor) ================================ SINGLES 01 Girls Aloud 24.6k 02 Pink 12.577k 03 Kings Of Leon 9.9k 04 Razorlight 9.5k 05 Geraldine 7.9k (19 copies ahead of Saturdays) Top 10 Sash Kanye West Top 15 Guru Josh Katy Perry - H&C Top 20 Jack White & Alicia Keys Top 40 Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror John Legend feat. October 21, 200817 yr GA - No1 single Sugababes - No1 album please (though i think it may only be top 3)
October 21, 200817 yr Sugababes deserve #1 album, but they have no chance against AC/DC and Kaisers :( I really hope Girls Aloud arent #1 with their god awful single, but i fear they will be :(
October 21, 200817 yr I think Suga's will be number 7 or 8 And unfortunately, and most bizarley, GA will be number one.
October 21, 200817 yr Hopefully GA will be number 1 in the singles and I assume (though rather hoping not) Leon will be number 1 in the albums. Norma
October 21, 200817 yr Hopefully GA will be number 1 in the singles and I assume (though rather hoping not) Leon will be number 1 in the albums. Norma No chance Albums will go: 01 | AC/DC 02 | Kaiser Chiefs 03 | Keane 04 | Leon 05 | Sugababes Though Kings Of Leon might keep Sugas out of the top 5 :(
October 21, 200817 yr Prob GA at number 1 in singles AC/DC number 1 album and Sugas at either 3/4 (even though the album deserves more than that)
October 21, 200817 yr AC/DC or Kaisers number one in the albums - Think Sugababes and Leon will be low top ten to be honest - And i have everything crossed that Girls Aloud are number one with MASSIVE SALES!!!!!!
October 21, 200817 yr I am preying that the babes will be #1 with Catfights and i'm backing Pink for week #4 I never thought GA could sing something as bland generic and $h!t as "The Promise" it doesn't deserve to go to #1 I'd rather see Leon there -_-
October 21, 200817 yr It's not that i think GA dont DESERVE to be at #1, i mean they're wayyy overdue to their #1, but i think The Promise is the most god awful thing they've come out with and threfore it as a song does NOT deserve #1... i wouldnt prefer to see Leon there though :heehee: PINK FTW
October 21, 200817 yr Keane may start off ahead but they'll be no5ish by the end of it. I'm not expecting them to hold up[ with 79k under their belts last week  I'm sure the Sugababes can at least outsell them considering 'Change' did 50 odd last year. I reckon by the end of the week 01 Kaisers 02 AC/DC 03 Leon 04 Sugababes 05 Keane And singles... 01 Girls Aloud 02 P!nk 03 Razorlight 04 Kings Of Leon 05 Saturdays maybe?

Just that the song doesn't. SKO was their last track that actually deserved a #1 placing. Shame it never got it.

You have to laugh when you hear some of the comments really. Come on GA :w00t:

October 21, 200817 yr I really hope Girls Aloud arent #1 with their god awful single, but i fear they will be :( I wouldnt worry, "its not going to be the massive hit that everyone thought it would be", its just gona be no1
