It'll be a welcome break from what is now the rather ritualistic process of enterring the regular song contests imo :D

 

For sure it'll be disappointing if people don't get nominated but I think BJSC XII will come back even stronger from the break

At this rate, with around a dozen people having confirmed already, it will not leave in the first place! :lol:

I think certain people are starting to think that the Best Of Contest will just be a pain in the backside, delaying the action from starting again :P

 

That's what I gather judging from all the hype that has already started about the December contest!

To be honest, I think the break is a good thing. At the moment the contests are constant and I know we're just replacing a normal contest with a spin-off contest this month but it's easier to take part in this one as there isn't the pressure of finding the entry as this is relying on our back catalogue of entries. Plus there will be some people who know 100% of the songs so it should be easier to vote.

I hope so, the only break I can recall was between VI and VII because Eurovision was taking place and you only have to look at the 'Songs of the Buzzjack Song Contest' topic to see that it came back stronger with a (then) all-time high number of participants and what is generally thought of as the highest quality of songs. I'm not saying it would happen again, but sometimes a break can be good.

 

I guess I'm just a bit miffed that people can choose their artists already while the 'Best Of' should be taking place. It's in the same vein as people announcing what they are entering to the next contest while the voting for the current final is still open. I believe I had a little moan at people doing that while 'my contest' was ongoing. :heehee:

There was going to be a massive break for Eurovision between BJSC V and VI, but then Rich persuaded us that we could have VI before Eurovision so the gap between VI and VII wasn't that big actually. And the rest is history :kink:

 

I started selection for VII after VI anyway (with the definitive edition of Kopecekfestivalen! :heehee:), and I see no real problem with people announcing selections. And if people see it as a barrier I recommend that they nominate now so they can actually vote in it :arrr:

I guess so, the difference then was that we were only having a break for Eurovision and the two don't clash directly so people deciding on potential artists for their next entry doesn't affect whether people will watch Eurovision.

 

I guess complaining is a bit stupid though as the Best Of will mostly be over by the time actual confirmation is open so it wont necessarily damage it. I'm just worried people will be too busy thinking about BJSC XII to nominate for this. Do we really need Artist Confirmation to be open for nearly a month? The contests can sometimes feel a bit dragged out as it is so dragging it over two months seems kinda...long. It's almost like opening the Artist Confirmation for BJSC XIII now, before the semi-finals of BJSC XII have even started.

yes, the break was going to be a couple of months I think, but then I said that the people using the BJSC forum were not the same people using the ESC forum (which was mainly just myself, Trashsson, Boyan, David, Pavel and Peter)...but the real reason I wanted it to come back sooner is because I had just discovered Smack Me and wanted other people to hear it before I got bored of it, hence the birth of the phrasing 'post Smack-Me era'

You know.....I think Dalisska could have done really well in the post smack me era. My best result came from that time. It's a pity I came a bit too late. :(

Ojnoj Update:

 

A day ago, it was rumoured that Gavin Mikhail was the male artist to represent Ojnoj and today we can confirm, it's true. "We feel Gavin deserves another chance after he just narrowly missed out on a final placing, by one point." Ojnoj's official BJSC spokesperson confirmed. "The song hasn't been finalised as of yet, but he is definately representing us in BJSC XII." Gavin is said to be 'delighted and honoured' to be asked to perform again. "It's fantastoc. They've asked me to perform for them again and I couldn't resist, it's what I love to do so I was hardly going to turn it down now, was I?"

 

Ojnoj will be hoping to be able to come to a decision on the song before the Best of BJSC finishes, next month!

I agree, there is no way in hell The Final Countdown would come 2nd now...it would probably miss the final altogether...having said that, I still think both of the songs that you mentioned could have finished top 3 still at least

All of these new countries entering are scaring me :P It's hard enough to make the final as it is :P

A spokesman for Ojnoj's BJSC entries, accidently let slip the song that will be used in BJSC XII. "We are thrilled to be having Gavin Mikhail's song 'Brave' represent Ojnoj in December's BJSC." Gavin is said to be extremly disappointed that he let the track slip, but has also been reported to say "Oh well, what's done, is done. I unfortunately can't undo what's been done. It would have been nice to keep hush for a couple more weeks, but hey, the song was going to be revealed in the future anyway, so there's no damage done."

 

So it's official. Here is the song that will be hoping to bring Ojnoj Victory in December's BJSC:

I think I prefer 'Fight the Sky'... maybe it'll grow more on me to make it a potential winner but atm it's only very good ^_^
