This is so tragic. :(

They are the top 75.

Do ya is not the best song on the album it's kinda old Mcfly

Pov would have been better and i think it could have been a massive hit

it sounds nothing like Mcfly at all

Wow, are Mcfly so diverse that people can distinguish differences between their old & new material? :heehee:

they so could have picked a better band and a band that would sell more than them,,the single will enter high and drop like a stone like all mc fly singles do,,cin musnt want a big hit this year if they did they wudnt have picked mc fly

didn't the spice girls sell very little last year?

or is that let off because they are not Mcfly?

I know they have poor chart runs and stuff but that was mainly due to the record label

now they are on their own they release what they want

'Lies' got a good response and 7 weeks top 75 is good for Mcfly

their new album has about 3 old Mcfly sound do ya,smile, one for the radio

everything else is a whole new sound

their sales/chart runs will get better with the next few single releases

im sure

go to youtube put in down goes another one, pov, the last song, going through the motions then come back and say they sound no different

If someone could convert into sales... much appreciated :)

This is what I could find from various Year End charts:

'5 Colours In Her Hair' 150,072

'Obviously' 109,556

'That Girl' 69,000

'Room On The 3rd floor' (No exact figure but it finished #125 and #150 sold 40,000 and #102 sold 58,000)

'All About You/You've Got A Friend' 338,600

'I'll Be OK' 88,000

'I Wanna Hold You' 44,300

'Ultraviolet'/'The Ballad of Paul K' 24,100

'Please, Please'/'Don't Stop Me Now' 85,000

'Star Girl' 86,000

'Sorry's Not Good Enough' 28,000

'Baby's Coming Back' 50,750

'The Heart Never Lies' 69,790

Some of the figures will be a bit dated now as they are up to four years old. It's shocking that they've had 7 #1s and only 3 of them have cleared 100K. :o

To Date Singles

408.789 McFly - All About You/You.ve Got A Friend

152.802 McFly - 5 COlours In Your Hair

112.891 McFly - Obviously

100.065 McFly - Don't Stop Me Now

100.034 McFly - Star Girl

I'd rather not.

well then.

Given time and people will notice that they have changed since leaving the label

It annoys me that nobody will give them a chance "cos its Mcfly"

They're new music is a change of direction, it's not a pop as their old stuff.

I don't see how anyone who has actually bothered to look at the facts can say that Mcfly are going to make a c**p single.

If you compare Mcfly's single to the Spice Girls effort last year.

Mcfly - You've got a friend (with double A-side All about you) - 157,889

Spice Girls - Headlines - 48,956

The thing is its for charity and they need a act that can actually have good sales, McFly cannot do this no matter how ''good'' the song is. Theres so much better and better selling acts out there atm that could have done it so why them? -_-
Mcfly did sell more single than many before them and with their huge fan base behind them i think they will raise alot more than many others.

I think CIN were looking for a safe choice. With many artists, its either a hit or miss with their songs. With McFly, they're near enough guaranteed top 10.

I don't think they're bothered about Positions, they'd much rather prefer to have something like Jennifer Hudson's - Spotlight which hasn't quite gone Top 10 (yet) but has been sticking at 11 & 12 for the past few weeks and is still generating decent sales. I think they'd much prefer that than a Top 10 seeing as it's about raising MONEY... If they do a good enough song like 'All Abou tYou' for example, then they will get the sales, but with 'Do Ya' (Yes I know it's a double A-Side) it just sounds like anything else they've released so I would think it would perform the same, chart-wise.

yeh but thats not to say mcfly would ever have managed to sell that many copies of a single. i loved mcfly until THNL and ive never really felt that vibe since...

There is no denying that Spice Girls is one of the biggest girlbands in history and in their time they were THE biggest. There is also no denying that they will be remembered for alot longer than Mcfly will be.

Of course i know that they have sold more records than Mcfly have however their song for children in need didn't sell half as many as Mcfly's did. i think its a bit judging for people to assume it will automatically be a bad single when their last one for children in need did pretty well.

Thats the thing Do ya is 1 of 3 songs on their new album that sounds like the old Mcfly

there are much better songs to release but then again i guess they wanted a fun kinda song for cin

still know one knows what the other side of this release is yet
