Posted November 3, 200816 yr Hi there. A little earlier than last week (thank god!) here's this week's Bullboard Top 50 singles chart based on official sales and airplay. If you didn't see the chart last week, and want an explanation of how it works, see here. First of all, dropping out this week: BASSHUNTER Angel In The Night (Peak: 18, 7wks) Gabriela CILMI Sweet About Me (Peak:12 (probably higher), 10wks (since first chart)) COLDPLAY Viva La Via (Peak:5 (probably higher), 10wks (first chart)) FALL OUT BOY I Don't Care (Peak:37, 1wk) KEANE Spiralling (Peak: 14, 7wks) M.I.A. Paper Planes (Peak: 28, 6wks) NE-YO Closer (Peak: 10 (probably higher) 10wks (first chart)) OASIS The Shock Of The Lightning (Peak: 12, 10wks (first chart)) Will YOUNG Changes (Peak: 3, 10wks (first chart)) So that means 9 songs that weren't in last week - and that's 8 new entries and one re-entry. So what's number one? No need to wait for three hours - just read on :) This week Change Peak Weeks Artist Title :no1: 2x1 6 GIRLS ALOUD The Promise 2 2x1 7 PINK So What 3 3 5 RAZORLIGHT Wire To Wire 4 7 4 2 GURU JOSH PROJECT Infinity 2008 5 4 9 Jennifer HUDSON Spotlight 6 2 2 9 NE-YO Miss Independent 7 2 7 3 SATURDAYS, The Up 8 4 2* 11 RIHANNA Disturbia 9 1 7 10 KINGS OF LEON Sex On FIre 10 3 3 7 SNOW PATROL Take Back The City 11 9 11 3 Katy PERRY Hot N Cold 12 1 6x1* 11 Katy PERRY I Kissed A Girl 13 7 1x1 10 SUGABABES Girls 14 2 14 6 Kanye WEST Love Lockdown 15 1 8 8 KAISER CHIEFS Never Miss A Beat 16 16 1 X FACTOR FINALISTS 2008 Hero HIGHEST NEW ENTRY 17 13 17 6 Jack WHITE & Alicia KEYS Another Way To Die 18 3 2* 11 SCRIPT, The The Man Who Can't Be Moved 19 7 19 5 KILLERS, The Human 20 4 20 3 TAKE THAT Greatest Day 21 4 3 11 MADCON Beggin 22 23 22 2 DUFFY Rain On Your Parade 23 5 23 3 BEYONCE If I Were A Boy 24 24 24 2 KARDINAL OFFISHAL Feat. It's a fantastic song, and IMHO deserved more than one week at number one on the official sales-based Top 40. So why is X-Factor so low? Simply because it's not picked up on airplay yet. Now it's the official number one, it's likely to climb on airplay and could be in the Bullboard top 10 next week, but I still can't see it being number one. If it stays for another two weeks, then we'll talk :) My tips for next week's Bullboard number one? Girls Aloud could make it a third week, Beyonce has a shot, and Leona an outside chance too... All will be revealed next Monday!
November 3, 200816 yr Sorry TomKay, but a song that sells over 300K deserves far better than a #16 placing, no matter how execrable it is. ;)
November 3, 200816 yr *Remembers that Looking For Love spent several weeks at #1 airplay & only #8 on sales* Forget what I just said. :P
November 3, 200816 yr Author I know it looks strange, but this chart is based half and half on sales and airplay, and Hero only just creeps into the top 50 airplay... *Remembers that Looking For Love spent several weeks at #1 airplay & only #8 on sales* Forget what I just said. :P I remember that actually. Loved that song. I used to buy Music Week and work this chart out just for my own interest. Sad I know :) I may have a few old ones lying about somewhere if anyone's interested. I'd love to see old TV Airplay charts from the '90s! :D Other huge airplay #1's that only made top ten on sales: Des'ree - Life Tin Tin Out - Here's Where The Story Ends Simply Red - Say You Love Me They all would have probably been #1's in your system during 1998.
November 3, 200816 yr Author I'll have a dig, but I don't think I have the TV Airplay data I'm afraid :( I remember hearing Des'Ree amd Tin Tin Out song all the time round then too. Less so the Simply Red, but I'll take your word for it. How much old airplay data do you have by the way?

Including the top 100 charts from Hit Music & Charts Plus! I don't suppose you have a Haven account? The entire collection can be found in these two threads: A Little Airplay Help Airplay Archive Sub-Board from 1991-2008 Note - from 1998-2002, only the top 50 airplay charts were available sadly.
November 3, 200816 yr Author Wow, no I'm not on Haven at the moment, but I just joined for that. So if I can find whole sales charts runs I could work out years of this stuff. If I was that sad :) Edited November 3, 200816 yr by TomKay

November 3, 200816 yr Author LOL, I know. I'm not against it though. If anyone wanted to help, I can pass on the secret recipe ;) Newbie question but where do you get full top 75 charts from the past anyway? Edited November 3, 200816 yr by TomKay

What Can I Do? was an airplay #1 for 3 weeks & So Young was an airplay #1 for 2 weeks between New Year's Eve. The Corrs owned the UK & Ireland in 1998.  If only 2008 was like 1998 all over again. :(

November 3, 200816 yr Talk On Corners may be one of the most perfect pop albums ever.  And colour me crazy, but I think the second version of Runaway is much better than the first. Their fanbase would disagree, but I love it. They should have released Runaway a week before ...Baby One More Time if they wanted a #1 by that point. :( Edited November 3, 200816 yr by Karen Ramirez

November 3, 200816 yr Author http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13167 a 37 page thread with all the charts from November 1952 to April 2008! Wow, awesome, thanks! As soon as Haven let me in I'll get to work :) I agree, Talk On Corners is a great album. My dad, weirdly, bought the one before too (Forgiven Not Forgotten)? Great melodic 90s pop, very underrated.
