Well if you had watched more than 20 minutes of it you'd probably know why people here don't like Daniel or Eoghan. It's not because they're male but because Daniel is essentially Steve Brookstein v2 with sob story action and Eoghan is a generic teenage boy with a large national following - I'd call him an Irish Leon Jackson but he isn't quite that bad.

The only male vocalists I liked went in week 3 and 4. :/

I wouldn't mind if say Austin and Scott were there instead of Daniel and Eoghan, at least they had some talent. -_-

It's not that Daniel and Eoghan are male, it's because they're just simply awful.

Exactly! Steve and Leon WON! People liked them so they're going to like these! The same with other awful males like Ray Quinn or Andy Abrahams, they're c**p but people like a male crooner!

And they may sound exactly like others, but this is the X-Factor? No one seriously expects something original do they?!

i think if the judges were nicer to daniel he wudnt get as many votes people are voting for daniel because he gets such a hard time,,if simon and louis woke up to that fact and told him he is brilliant he wudnt get as many votes and that way he would go
I think they may have figured that out now, since they werent too harsh on him last night despite him sounding as horrific as usual. So i personally was expecting him to end up in the bottom 2 and be the end of him, tragically didnt happen.

WTF ARE PEOPLE DOING GETTING RID OF LAURA

I blame the Sun for this with her and her "affair" with the "producer"

Eoghan is only there still because teenage girls want to f*** him and because he has the Irish fanbase voting him en masse like the Scots did with the McDonald Brothers, vocally he is dire but the teenage girls and the Irish will get him into the final

Daniel is only there because of his sob story, his wife dying will probably keep him in a couple more weeks

It is just a waste seeing these 2 getting through at each week at the expense of people with genuine talent like Laura and to a lesser extent Austin

Just shows how tastes change. When I was a teenage girl I wanted Jeff Lynne and Clint Eastwood to jump me! I think Lynne was pushing 30 at the time and Eastwood pushing 40 - but even as a kid I liked my 'fancies' to look like men. If your comment is true then it seems teenage girls like theirs to look like some sort of soft toy that bears an uncanny resemblence to a certain greenish yellow duck!

I don't want Daniel to win at all but now it's mainly to p*** Chris Moyles off! I hate Chris Moyles a hell of a lot more than Simon. The people actually voting for Daniel because of this ridiculous "campaign" is just pathetic really. Your all going on about how we're all "sheep to Simon" because we're buying records, to do with the X Factor and Simon & voting on the X Factor etc... when surely your just going back on yourselves, and being sheep to Chris Moyles

These sort of shows (as much as I do love them) have become a joke ever since the guy who won the first one won. and Leona is the only decent winner to come out of X Factor so far! Shayne Ward - Bleh where's he now? Leon - FLOP! and Diana, Alex and Ruth are the only ones that can stop this competition from becoming a bigger joke than it already is! So why complain about a show becoming a joke when someone like Leon wins. But then you go ahead and join Chris Moyles campaign to get the biggest joke EVER to grace X Factor Daniel to win?!?! It doesn't make sense!

(And I'm not saying you have voted for Daniel I'm just saying)

Well I was liking X Factor up until Laura's departure, I was annoyed by Austin and Rachel both being bottom two and Austin going, but that I could accept since I prefer Rachel to Austin, however with Laura and Ruth to me it was no competition, Laura was the better singer throughout the competiton.

I still think that Daniel has robbed a few people of their place on X Factor with his sob story, I thought this right from the start when Dannii put him through instead of Suzie. When you compare Laura and Daniel you can see that she didnt' deserve to go, especially since she was one of the "mains" in Heroes and Daniel was pretty much a chorus.

Anyway, Best of British next week and the competition goes on. Just for fun, here's what I would give the contestants if I was their mentor:

Alexandra:

First Choice: Dusty Springfield - Son of a Preacher Man

Backup: Whitney Houston - Saving All My Love for You

Diana:

First Choice: ??? - ???

Backup: Sarah McLachlan - When she Loved Me OR Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah

JLS:

First Choice: Take That - How Deep is your Love?

Backup: ??? - ???

Ruth:

First Choice: Cilla Black - You're my World

Backup: Shirley Bassey - I'll Get By

Rachel:

First Choice: Amy Winehouse - Back to Black OR Amy Winehouse - Love is a Losing Game

Backup: George Gershwin - Summertime

Daniel:

First Choice: Sting - Fields of Gold

Backup: Paul McCartney - Yesterday

Eoghan:

First Choice: Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Backup: Carole King - You've got a Friend

I've not seen the show last night, as I was out, but from what I hear, on the performances the wrong people were in the bottom two. Talent shows, don't work as talent shows anymore, as we are too easily manipulated, and can basically be classed as sheep. I think what people are forgetting is there is a DISTINCT lack of male vocals left in the competition - which is the exact opposite of female singers. So maybe people who were voting for Austin and Scott, and who like Owen and Daniel, are now voting for them because their former favourites weren't left in the competition. I think on the whole it's harder for the public to connect with females in reality to shows, and if they do, there's normally an emphasis on one female rather than a bunch.

I've not heard of this Chris Moyles campaign, but I find it funny. I know others don't, but it's only a TV show at the end of the day. For me, if Daniel wins (which he won't btw) then it might make Simon Cowell (and the producers) think twice about using so many sob stories, as it shows they're clearly effective. People will vote for Daniel as Chris Moyles is very good at getting the audience on his side. I remember he got that song from Billie Piper back into the UK Charts all on his own, and all because he could.

Your all going on about how we're all "sheep to Simon" because we're buying records, to do with the X Factor and Simon & voting on the X Factor etc... when surely your just going back on yourselves, and being sheep to Chris Moyles

Why be sheep to anyone though? I think people should watch the show for what it is - brilliant television entertainment - which results in even more entertaining conversation here on BJ. There is no need to go along with the voting and there is certainly no need to buy the 'winning song' because the show is nothing to do with music - it never has been. I have never, ever voted in one of these things. I have never voted in these stupid 'soap' polls either (partly because as the papers point out ... being a northerner I'm too mean  ). The only thing I have voted in was the Brit Awards last year and I won a pair of tickets to the Brits for my trouble - Result!

Oh my god! Ruth should sing Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps!

Diana:

Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah

YES!!

I just hope she's well enough to sing

I think you are wrong.

The joke is X-Factor itself. Just compare it to Strictly Come Dancing for example.

Compare the expertise of the 4 judges:

On SCD:

Bruno Tonioli - is an Italian-born British dancer and professional choreographer whose work has included Rihanna's Umbrella & Madonna v Britney Spears' Me Against The Music videos amongst many others.

Arlene Phillips OBE - is a British choreographer and former professional dancer who has worked in many fields of dance but is most famous for choreographing all of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals put on in the West End & she used to choreograph a lot of pop music videos in the 1980s.

Between Bruno & Arlene they have choreographed videos for over 100 UK Top 20 Hit singles.

Len Goodman - is a British professional dance judge and teacher and former dancer. He runs the UK national ballroom and Latin dancing school in Dartford, Kent, and has been a professional dancing judge for over 40 years.

Craig Revel Horwood - is an Australian dancer, choreographer, and theatre director. His West End directorial work includes West Side Story, Miss Saigon, Hard Times - The Musical, Calamity Jane, Tommy Cooper - Jus' Like That & Beautiful and Damned. He also co-directed the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Sydney & the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

Now compare those qualifications to the judges in X-Factor:

Simon Cowell - Before Pop Idol he signed the following acts Sinitta, Curiosity Killed the Cat, Sonia Evans, Five, Westlife, Robson & Jerome, and Ultimate Kaos. He also released several novelty recordings featuring the likes of wrestlers of the World Wrestling Federation, Teletubbies, Zig and Zag and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He was also famous as head of BMG for turning down the opportunity of signing the Spice Girls; passing on the option of signing Robbie Williams as a solo artist & dropping Kylie Minogue from the Dance offshoot Deconstruction in 1998 saying that she was "too old to have big pop hit singles anymore and should return to acting"

Louis Walsh - Manager of Johnny Logan Ireland's double winning Eurovision Song Contest artist; Boyzone; Bellefire & reviving Lulu's career in the mid 1990s and then there is the Karoake kings Westlife.

Dannii Minogue - Kylie's younger and less successful sister. Whom has been in the public eye in Australia since her childhood, but is hardly top qualified to judge a talent competition based on many wobbly live vocal performances.

Cheryl Cole - The most famous member of Girls Aloud whom is married to an England international footballer, but seeing how GA have still sold only one-tenth what the Spice Girls sold worldwide then Victoria Beckham would be better qualified to be a judge. Or maybe Geri Halliwell who after all was a judge on PopStars: The Rivals which saw the band that became Girls Aloud formed.

I really hope Daniel wins now

Talent wise Laura is probably the 2nd best ever singer on X Factor maybe even more raw power than Leona but to see her cast aside in favour of 2 talentless gimps who would not even make Round 2 of a karaoke contest at a pub (Daniel and Eoghan) really sucks and totally takes away the very tiny amount of credibility that the show had/has

Daniel winning would give the show the winner it deserves given the show is not about anything resembling talent any more

I said The show is a Joke! - But I just said it's a joke ever since Steve won. I didn't need all the stuff about the judges. I'm not interested in the Judges, I care for the contestants and want the ones that are deserving to win!

But anyway like Norma said... these need to be just viewed for Entertainment. As much as I love Diana, I have only voted for her once  But I have free minutes now so will vote for her throughout the competition

Diana winning X Factor would be the worst thing for her

She would be forced by Cowell into an album of bland ballads and cover versions

She would be far better off making records as an independent artist in her niche area

WTF ARE PEOPLE DOING GETTING RID OF LAURA

I blame the Sun for this with her and her "affair" with the "producer"

I don't think it was about that tbh, that was a lot of fuss about nothing and he wasn't even a producer he just was in charge of finding members of the audience and it was weeks ago

I think Syco has first refusal on all the artists though. It'd be impossible for her not to sign with them even if she didn't win...
