They're not *that* bad though, but this is definitely a new low. They're alright with football, especially the Champions League. Even the F1, the main criticism is adverts, the actual coverage is OK. But this is awful. There were 11 first round ties featuring a non league side at home to a league side, but which one do they pick? That's right, they pick the tie which features the team which received huge amounts of money from the Cup last year and the one that probably need it least, it's not really in the spirit of the cup is it? I like to see an upset but COME ON BRENTFORD!

Oh and having the draw BEFORE the game?! Madness!

A couple of years ago, Sky Sports choose Macclesfield-Walsall, simply because it was Paul Ince's first game as manager.

I agree, it's absolutely stupid. I know it's all about ratings and stuff, but ITV could have had a bit more sense. Havant last season was a one off. I saw them against York in the 1st round of the FA Cup and they were pretty awful.. Of course when they play Liverpool they're going to play their hearts out. It's a once in a lifetime oppotunity. Poor selection of a cup-tie indeed. Is good they got knocked out.

are ITV only showing one game as well? Did the BBC show more than one 1st and 2nd round game?

I'm not sure pre 3rd round, I think they may have shown two...

From the 3rd round onwards BBC had 3 and Sky 1. With Setanta having two this round it looks like they may take the place of the BBC and we only get on terrestrial game per round!

I'm pretty sure that the BBC only showed one R1 and R2 game.

Mind you, I don't think they showed the R1 draw either on BBC1. (And I won't be surprised if we have two games on ITV from R3 onwards.)

they won't want to mess with their pride and joy, Dancing On Ice -_-

This is the channel that cuts out a whole episode from the first season of Pushing Daisies because they couldn't schedule it a week earlier to avoid the clash ironically with the pointless Euro 2008 for home nations fans.

David Pleat was as useless as ever. Where on earth is Have-ant? But then why would someone who thinks Czechoslovakia still exists be able to pronounce the name of a Hampshire town?

If they have a game starting at 12.30pm - like what the BBC did - they wouldn't have to.

Maybe 1993 didn't happen for him.

The camera positions for the highlights was DREADFUL yesterday.

Their presenting team is no-where near as good as the BBC's either... and the Beep even have Lawro!

The highlights yesterday were possibly the worst piece of sport coverage I've EVER seen. UTTERLY DREADFUL!

Who wants to see more than the goals from three cup shocks from Forest, Hartlepool and Torquay when we can watch extended highlights of a fairly routine Liverpool win which they've ALREADY SHOWN IN FULL. Oh, and how about praise for the teams that did the 'giant killing'?! I was furious as a Forest fan yesterday that all they could mention was how bad Man City were not, how good we were, how much we deserved it and what an acheivement it is to beat the richest club in the world 3-0 at their ground! Oh and when they said 'let's ignore Tyson's goal' - pathetic. Let's not re-watch one of the strikes of the round, instead we want to see some poor defending, it's not as if we've not been able to see poor Man City defending on MOTD EVERY week this season! If Robinho had scored that goal Matt Smith would still be wanking over it now!

I gotta admit, I was expecting the Forest and Man City game to be one of, if not the main tie (and as a neutral I wanted to see more of the game too!). But it seemed to me like they already knew before the games had kicked off which ones they were going to feature in full. Some of the commentating was actually quite PATRONISING from my point of view too. I support a Blue Square Premier team, and they make it out like these teams have never played a game of football in their lives! Pretty amatuerish stuff.

The highlights were also messed up. They just ran with no order whatsoever really, with poor editing and camera shots. I hate to moan about this, but it really does just go to show you how better the BBC are at the ITV than covering football. The same goes for Sky Sports in comparison to Setanta. The 'experts' for ITV are to be quite frank, LAUGHABLE too.

they only show 2 matches, how dire!

I hope the Beeb gets the rights back at the earliest opprotunity. 2 sets of 2 words to remind us how naff ITV are at football - Des Lynam & The Premiership

also wtf is up with the opening credits for the coverage?

If you're gonna have old footage, then at least use it properly!

Didn't enjoy their coverage at all. The Hull - Newcastle game seemd to get more coverage than Forest's shock win. That seemed fatuous to me, and I'm a Newcastle fan!

Incidentally, do Setanta have a highlights show of its own at any time?

I don't think so. I never saw one advertised at all.

Forest vs Derby is on TV for the next round! :D Lucilly it's on Setanta and not ITV. I know it's not great and it's certainly no Sky/BBC but it'll do...

ITV's Football coverage:

(Assemble the following words to make a well known phrase):

a brewery run could they a up p!$$ in not
