Well I did start this a few months ago but the format I chose was well for lack of a better term 'RETARDED' plus I underestimated just how tough my college workload was going to be

But I've been asked by the sexual beast that is Mart!n to run the competition this year and before I started I wanted to see what format you wanted it to take.

For those of you on drugs like moi and who have no idea what this is The Buzzjack ROTY is basically ac ompetition that runs at the end of each year to find the best single of the past 12 months. Previous winners have been Nelly Furtado's 'Maneater' and Rihanna's 'Umbrella' which trounced 'Chasing Cars' and 'About You Now' in their respective years.

We could have:

[1] CLASSIC - The format from the past two years where a select handful of songs from the year are randomly divided into groups and we rank each group.

[2] LIST - Where you just compile a list of your top 20 favourite songs from the year [from any country as long as they were single releases] and the 10 with the most 'nominations' make the final.

If you have any other suggestions do post in the thread - otherwise just state which of the two methods you'd perfer. ^_^

Hmm yeah option 2 will probably be better!
Not like me to be the outsider (heh) but option 1 sounds easioer. I can never make my mind up about order in this sort of thing...
Second. Often the lesser successful songs are the best anyway so this way they (which are often BJ favourites too) get more of a chance.

All comments so far taken on board :D I shall probably be starting the thread today or tomorrow.

Also opinions on how it should be posted if we do list form? PM or in the thread.

I perfer the former myself as it enhances secrecy.

Option 2, and I prefer doing it on the thread because I like seeing people's different music tastes .
Thanks for doing this again, Graham - it is a bit of a tradition now. I would prefer option 2 as well ^_^
I think option 2 will be better. Besides I have my 2008-to-date-year-chart, so there'll be no problem for me. :D

I agree Option 2.

Margaret Berger "Will You Remember Me Tomorrow" FTW. :D

I like the Classic way better because it will be hard to make my top 20 of the year. I'd much rather have the ten rounds of ten songs or whatever we did last year and be made to rank those as I'm lazy and I like having the list in front of me. But as everyone is saying option 2 I guess I'm in the minority.

edit: Ooh, I like RFC's idea. :o

I think RFC's idea sounds good too. If not though, option 2.

And I agree with Gary - I like seeing what other people like, so I'd go for posting in the thread
