Option 2 would mean more variety :D .

I think everyone (50 people) should nominate two songs on a first come first serve basis, it's then kind of a mixture of 1 & 2...

 

I like this idea actually and something similar [though with more songs] did cross my mind but it seemed so messy. But I guess we could use the idea and then split the songs into groups after that?

Yep, I love that idea. It would have been much messier everyone choosing their own 10 songs :)
