November 17, 200816 yr anyone from ireland put it on limewire yet then? i've been looking for run all day only for a huge disappointment not on there for another 2 weeks. I hope it flops for BMG now
November 17, 200816 yr Not releasing it till 1st Dec is a bad decision - they have just denied Leona a smash hit no.1 single.
November 17, 200816 yr To be fair it wasn't that stupid. They probably have sacrificed hundreds of thousands of 79p single sales for approximately a few thousand £10 album sales, which will probably profit the label more directly. Edited November 19, 200816 yr by Harve
November 17, 200816 yr I don't see how it's a c**k-up at all. They realise after saturday that there's now huge demand for this song and are making it so they only way to get it is to buy the album (and therefore spend about 12 times as much, so even if only 1/12 people who would've bought it buy the album they'll still win). That's good management, not a c**k-up! But surely you see this is causing a major loss of goodwill for the sake of a few thousand album sales? And with 5 million already sold it's the equivalent of spitting in a bucket. Why should Leona's UK fanbase hang around and watch "newcomers" get immediate access to the track while their options are to either rebuy the songs they already own or wait another three weeks? And that's without mentioning the immediate digital release across Europe. In effect they're being penalised for having invested most in her career. And then there's the loss of sales from those who would have bought it as a single track but have no interest in the album. It's a cynical and short-termist move and leaves a very bad taste in the mouth. Totally a shrewd business move, but i see why ppl are pissed off. You know what though? Get used to it. As a loyal fan who adopts any artist album early, you can now almost guarantee a deluxe edition if it experiences any modicum of success, leaving you forced to buy it for 3 new songs or miss out. CDs are so much cheaper in real terms than b4, and seeing as this leads to drops in profits per unit the record companies are getting us to rebuy a half arsed update rather than invest the money in a brand new project so there is more cream for them. The further irony is that deluxe versions cost more (around the price of an album in the 90s ironically), so for so little new content we pay even more! They have us by the balls, coz the alternative is to miss the new material "Johnny apathy come lately" gets as standard.... However, this won't hurt Leona's Longterm sales, and i think in long run this won't shoot them in the foot. Ppl still like Leona herself so will still buy her subsequent material, and if run is as massive nationally as with the somewhat skewed views we share on here it'll still make no1. She does have star power. Impressed at the Irish itunes news, but i still don't think 1 performance alone gets a song to no1, now or in 2 weeks, even for Leona
November 19, 200816 yr looks like 1 performance of 1 song may just get a re-release album to no 1 !! (if not 1 then certainly top 5 !) Taking this into account along with what has happened on Irish iTunes its pretty clear if Run had been available on UK iTunes then it would have stormed no1........ but of course the album would have done less well. ps Run available on Limewire for any illegal downloaders amongst you ?
November 19, 200816 yr Or you can get the live version she did on x factor converted into mp3 directly from the vid on you tube but I don't know the rules on whether I can publish how to do it on here. Can any of the mods or admins let me know either way whether I can share ? Obviously I don't want to encourage anyone to download 'illegally' and I hope no-one does as I want her to be No 1 when it comes out Monday week :-)
November 19, 200816 yr oh and now I see the Deluxe album is no1 in the mids so deffo don't download illegally..... just keep buying the album !! Joint number 1 again for Leona in 2 and a bit weeks time ? any thoiughts ?

Joint number 1 again for Leona in 2 and a bit weeks time ? any thoiughts ? No chance of holding the top spot in the albums with The Killers, Take That and Rhydian all out next week. Possible to get a #1 with Run when the single comes out but it depends how big Take That's 2nd week is and whether the hype has died down / how good the Run video is and how much airplay it gets. A R1/R2 adds this week would be nice :)
November 19, 200816 yr Ok, i like leona but ive never seen so much hype over a cover song before. I dont get what the biggy is. If her voice is so amazing, why doesnt she sing new material, even if its badly produced, she would probably make it sound good. Edited November 19, 200816 yr by Robintime11

I agree, I'd like Leona to do her own material but remember nearly all artists cover songs by others occasionally as really really good songs don't come along that often. remember Harry Nilson ?! Ask most people under about 30 who's song Without You is and they'll likely say Mariah Carey. Edited November 19, 200816 yr by Eighth Day

Without You was originally by Harry Nilson and I Will Always Love You was originally by Dolly Parton.

A R1/R2 adds this week would be nice :) ooops, me getting carried away ! I forgot about those releases. Especially TT what, with there X factor appearance this weekend and being xfactor darlings since Gary told Simon about his duty of care for Leona, I think they'll be a no brainer for No 1 album ! looking forward to DivasII, see if she did it as well on that recording. Hope she has the gospel style backing choir again. If Run does get released to radio etc i'll stick with my original prediction of number 1. Sony/Syco have generated a lot of extra press coverage due to their 'messing' about over release dates so even if you didn't see x factor you'll know about it by now !! Deliberately or not it doen't matter, it will work in her favour.

If her voice is so amazing, why doesnt she sing new material, even if its badly produced, she would probably make it sound good. It's not that she can't do new material. I'm sure this studio version was meant to be a treat for the fans. She first did this in the Live Lounge when she was promoting 'Bleeding Love' and it became one of the most popular/requested Live Lounge cover versions. It's good business sense, but also a treat, for them to make her record what was such a popular rendition of the song. It's certainly helped the re-release of the album and pleased most fans. (personally I feel the studio version is slightly overproduced, the radio rip of her original version is much better imo but it's a nice gesture) As for people hoping for radio adds, I'm not so sure. It will need a serious radio edit as radio shudders at anything past the 4 minute mark really.
November 19, 200816 yr Radio 1 might need an edited down version which would be a shame but I think most the commercials will take it as is, after all they promote Shayne, Leona, Leon et al like mad anyway as they do all ITV reality stars. It's just too good to not play in its entirety. (IMO of course)

Wonder if they will pick up on the studio recoring nearer to release, or tif this will effect it's status in airplay charts.

Wonder if they will pick up on the studio recoring nearer to release, or tif this will effect it's status in airplay charts. It shouldn't as they are essentially identical give or take a bit. When that happens in the singles sales chart, the two versions are amalgamated and chart as one (e.g. Sugababes About You Now studio version and Live Lounge recording - the two of which are more different to each other (one upbeat, one ballad) than Leona's two).

November 19, 200816 yr hahahah Valerieeeee! Why don't you come on over? great song. horrible singer. In the leona situation, it was obvious that fans were going to rush to the stores and buy the little pearl that is RUN

Trust me :) And the gospel choir is there - except this time they're directly behind her and dressed in black.
November 27, 200816 yr Run Video is out, hauntingly brilliant. check it on Leona official site. Download should be available sunday according to their source but I guess they mean from midnight.
