Ha ha...tell you, for one, Bill Drummond made the best music of his career aged 37, so no need to retire. Christ, he's the same age as me and he's ready for a pipe and slippers already?

Don´t take this seriously.

Before releasing X&Y, Chris Martin also said they would take more then a decade to come back, and would come back with an album of dance music. It turned out to be that they just took the typical 2-year-gap between albums and came with an album of usual Coldplay style.

The guy is just joking.

I sincerely hope he IS joking because frankly, many of the best albums I've heard this year so far have come from artists WAY above Chris Martin's proposed "retirement age"...

The Cure - 4:13 Dream

Portishead - Third

Metallica - Death Magnetic

Alice Cooper - Along Came A Spider

Nine Inch Nails - The Slip

All bloody fantastic records.....

The likes of Nick Cave, Morrissey, Siouxsie Sioux, Killing Joke, Radiohead, etc are still making music that's vital as well... Just cos Coldplay sound bloody geriatric by comparison, he shouldn't judge all more 'mature' artists by his standards....

Wow, NME.com took their time in reporting this - they've gone for it hook, line and sinker too...

Look at Steve Tyler & Mick Jagger!!

And it's funny how the oldest rockstars always make the biggest money from tours. :P
