To clear up some confusion - A Moment Like This was available as a download from the X-Factor's own website straight after the end of the final, so before midnight. However you weren't sent the track, only a pin number allowing you to download it after midnight from 7Digital to make all sales eligible for the next week's chart. In effect a pre-order.

On Xtra Factor after the final it was claimed that 20,000 people had "downloaded" it in the first 5 minutes with a later figure of 50,000 in 30 minutes being given at the press conference straight after Xtra Factor (by Cowell I think).

The song wasn't even available on iTunes until late Sunday/early Monday.

Thanks 6weeksatnumber7. That clears the confusion for me.

Interesting that only one Britney song is in there from Saturday

and the Highest X Effect, is Bon Jovi, performed by Ruth, who got kicked out

To be honest ... the only Britney songs I recognised were Toxic and HMBOMT. And the ILR&R to me will always be a Joan Jett song anyway. I really don't think her back-catalogue merited a session devoted to it. Fair enough ... she is a big name to get for the show and I'm sure its ratings will be good from it ... but I really couldn't name more than three Britney songs off the top of my head and apart from her die-hard fans - I'm not too sure many other people could name more than half a dozen.

Mind you - I take back what I said about her overtaking Take That on iTunes ... she may just do it by the next update. I wonder how she's doing in the other download sites and on physicals - come Sunday it may be Leona 1, Britney 2 and Take That 3! Still, at least TT will have the album pole-position for a few weeks to console themselves with.

As a comparison, the popularity bars on Tuesday morning after the release of Bleeding Love and Rule The World last year. You may notice a surprisingly familiar top 3:

Other Britney songs have entered the pop chart actually with :

Everytime at 66

Piece of me at 67

Gimme more at 74

I'm not a girl not yet a woman at 86

Sometimes at 91

Go Britney! :yahoo:

Has my iTunes not updated or is Leona ahead of Take That in the albums?

She is but it's pretty meaningless as physical album sales vastly outweigh digital album sales and Take That will sell 4 million this week in the shops (give or take a copy).
