Although I am gutted I do think this will be amazing for the show. Sometimes in soap when you tell a risky story it really pays off. Heather's murder in EastEnders is a great example. If they keep the aftermath going for months and throw in twists and turns along the way then this story will be amazing. Plus it involves ALL of the best characters. (Except the one who just got killed.)

The aftermath could be over next week if it's Silas, however apparently....

Basically, apparently Will is going to be framed for a murder, I presume it must be Lynsey's but it hasn't been confirmed and in the week where Silas returns, it comes out that he has been writing Silas' memoirs apparently but Silas refuses to corroborate this claim!

The opening scene today was hearbreaking :( Especially Cheryl, first time in ages Hollyoaks has made me genuinely upset ... as lame as that may be.
Also I hate that bitchy police woman with a PASSION. She annoyed me so much with Silas too when she wouldn't believe Lynsey.

I only just caught the C4 episode but it was SO GOOD. I'm so sad about Lynsey but I do reckon Karen Hassan will get work pretty quickly. She's about to film a part in a few eps of Casualty and she's got a BBC drama called The Fall coming this year (which the Brendan, Cheryl and Kris actors are also in!).

It was an excellent episode (and indeed an excellent week), and it shows just how good Hollyoaks can be when they put their teen focus aside for a few minutes and pay some attention to their best cast members. I'm still sorry to see Lynsey go, but from what I've read she was leaving anyway regardless of this storyline, so may as well get some drama out of it. I'm not sure why they bumped her off before Silas' return though.

At the moment, my money is on the shady Dr Browning. Either Silas or Brendan's random, faceless enemies would be too obvious, Mercedes would surely be too weak from the stabbing to go out and strangle anybody (and I also like to think even she would draw the line at cold murder), Ally makes no sense because if he wanted to keep his secret (whatever it is quiet) he'd also have to go out and murder both Ste and Brendan as well, Walker would surely have more pressing matters on his mind at that particular time, and Will just makes no sense whatsoever.

I imagine somebody's going to suggest Will could be the killer after finding the photo of Lynsey on his camera. Otherwise that entire scene would've been way too random.

I think you're right on that score and he'll be the first to be fingered for the crime, but I think the idea that us viewers should consider him a genuine suspect is a little ludicrous given there's no motive whatsoever.

Basically as I said Will apparently writes a autobiography pretending to be Silas to help raise money for his family, so that puts him in the frame of murder tbh.

However, I really do think the murderer is Dr Browning as he seems to be obsessed with Mercedes.

As an aside, it's quite incredible to think that at the point of her death, Lynsey was probably the show's most popular character behind only Brendan. Not bad at all for a girl who started out as nothing more than a mousy bit-part player with a couple of lines in Hollyoaks Later, hankering after Kris the town transvestite. Girl's come a long way, and I'd say much of that is down to the likeability and acting of Karen Hassan. I hope she does well for herself outside of Hollyoaks.

I'd say she was far more popular than Brendan. He just defines cringe ... never will I ever see the fascination with that character, he doesn't even seem menacing ... like if someone said some of the stuff he's said to the likes of Amy and others I'd just laugh, not be scared!

Brendan IS extremely popular though. Now that I'm watching religiously this year I have to say I finally GET him. He simply HATES people and humanity and normality. He's definitely more of a comedy character than a menacing villain though, but Hollyoaks seem to get that which is why almost all of his scenes feature him ranting on about jam or scoffing baked goods.

So I've had a night of not being able to sleep and slowly catching up on like three weeks of Hollyoaks! Now watching this week. Carmel's story is so sad :( I love her!

Hollyoaks is so much better when they don't focus on the students !

top five:

1. Lynsey

2. Mitzeee

3. Carmel

4. Jacqui

5. Mercedes

I took a while to come around to Brendan, but now I'm pretty much on the same page as Jark; I'm not so fussed over the gangland nonsense, but Brendan shines at the oddball sociopathic material. He just doesn't GET people, he doesn't get social etiquette or rules, and neither does he want to.

TOP TEN

01. Lynsey (for I am still in denial)

02. Brendan

03. Jacqui

04. Nancy

05. Darren

06. Barney (it's strange how sympathetic I find a walking talking caricature)

07. Mercedes (much more watchable as a psycho than a $l*t)

08. Mitzeee

09. Carmel

10. Dodger (Danny Mac is coming on in leaps and bounds, and has managed to build a fair amount to depth to a character who to all intents and purposes was supposed to just be an incredibly shallow Jack the Lad)

HONOURABLE MENTIONS: Cheryl, Riley, Ash

01 LYNSEY FOREVER

02 everybody else.

I kid, top 5 would be:

01 Lynsey (refuse to move on)

02 Mitzeee

03 Jacqui

04 Nancy

05 Dodger

I go hot and cold with Nancy. Sometimes she can be fun and she's good at emotional stuff. Other times she's REALLY ANNOYING and treats Darren like a kid. I'm the same with Cindy too, but I did appreciate her gossiping about Mercedes in the pub the other day. :D

I quite like Nancy when she's in Squeaky/Uppity Mode, but for me Jessica Fox shines at the emotional plots. Both she and Ashley Taylor Dawson were tremendous during the all-too brief miscarriage storyline, utterly heartbreaking.

Cindy is great when she's on form, but she badly needs to be given something to do. It does very much feel like she and Tony have now been booted into the appear-once-a-month-as-supporting-characters-only corner with the over other-30s.

Top 10

1. Doug

2. Annalise (would of been Lynsey)

3. Nancy

4. Barney

5. Darren

6. Mitzeee

7. Scott

8. Jacqui

9. Mercedes

10. Ste / Dodger
