well I was wondering if recent events in India would help this film's Oscar fight...

Im going to an exclusive screening/premiere-esque of this next week at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square :w00t:

And i get to go to a Q & A with Danny Boyle after.

One of the best British films this year (even though its released next year)

I just came back from an exclusive preview screening where i got to meet danny boyle and have a Q&A with him and it was incredible. Creating tension and suspense is definitely one of his strongest feats. By the end of the film you are literally on the edge of your seat over something as simple as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire  I can see why theres so much Oscar hype over it and Dev Patel is brilliant in it.

Dev Patel was the 2nd worst actor in Skins (only beaten by Maxxie) but from what I read the critics seem to love his performance in this. :o Weird indeed.
He really shines in this film. Danny Boyle was saying that the only reason he cast Dev Patel was cos he wanted to keep the cast an all bollywood cast but they are all GI Joe's and then his daughter brought Dev Patel to his attention through Skins and thought he would be perfect for the casting.

Sometimes happens mate... Actors that dont impress much on TV suddenly spring into life on Film, it happens the other way a hell of a lot as well... For example, I was never a fan of Rob Lowe, then when he appeared in "West Wing", suddenly I felt he found his niche... He's cr@p in films, but bloody good on the TV shows he's been in..... And, I'm more impressed by Keifer Sutherland in '24' than by any of the films he's been in....

Could also be down to the fact he's had better writers to write material for. The writing for the best part of Skins was fukin attrocious! I think Kiefer Sutherland's been in some pretty good films too, but he blows me away when portraying Jack Bauer. There is little wonder he always gets nominated for Best Male Lead Actor... the only problem is, post Millenium, the majority of the parts he's offered in films are all playing a similar sort of character to Bauer!

and also it may be down to director and the fact that they may have continued acting lessons when they are on the show..think someone like isla fisher was just someone pretty who was on an aussie soap and then left that and went overseas to acting school, where she learnt how to act and be so funny which is in keeping for someone who's like mrs borat...

Just came back from watching this. :D Really good film, and you'd have to have a heart of stone to not feel slightly happy at the end. I was getting goosebumps during the final question

Loved this so much.

Hadn't heard that M.I.A. would be on the soundtrack so pleasantly surprised about that too!

The bit where Jamal jumps into the pool of crap is absolutely RANK though!

I hadn't even heard of the movie prior to watching it at the theater. Only reason I saw it was because my friends saw that it was rated 'R'.

I wasn't expecting much from the movie but I really enjoyed it! I think it's hard to not get into the movie and start feeling for the characters.
