I bought the Vikas Swarup novel just the other day and am nearly finished with it already.

So good/addictive.

Great film but "the feel good movie of the decade" is such an over-exaggeration that is drawing people to see it with preconceptions that aren't always being satisfied. It's a shame they're using it as the tagline in nearly all their promotional material...and not surprising it was a sensationalising NOTW hack that coined it.

 

But let's not take away from a story that is cleverly constructed and a film both beautifully shot and directed with a killer soundtrack!

 

It'll take something special to beat this to the Oscar.

Milk and Let the Right One In were both easily better than this imo, but both are too different to win Best Picture at the Oscars tbh. Slumdog Millionaire was fantastic though, so I'd be happy with it winning. :wub:
