January 3, 200916 yr By the way Matt Smith is now 1/15 odds on fav. Please don't let it be  a virtually unknown actor
January 3, 200916 yr So what if he's unknown?! I have to say though he is NOT hot and as such he would absolutely not be suitable for this role. He would positively have to keep that overcoat ON.
January 3, 200916 yr You can't compare those situations Rich, those changes bar the Hamilton one were bought about by PUBLIC demand and democracy, I have not seen any mass public demand for Dr Who to turn black after half a century, the others were all bought about by public demand, I have not seen any media demands or political demands or tabloid campaign or anything that facillitates public demand for there to be a black or female Dr Who So, if it is a 'black' person and/or a woman, then it is all down to their acting ability? Quite right ^_^
January 3, 200916 yr The reason that Matt Smith is so highly tipped is because of Doctor Who Confidential today. He was announced as the next incarnation of The Doctor in Doctor Who following David Tennant's scheduled departure.
January 3, 200916 yr Dr Who has ALWAYS been that way Tyron, there is no reason to change Dr Who after almost half a century, if it ain't broke don't fix it That doesn't make it traditional values! Traditional VALUES are to cast the best possible actor as Doctor Who, regardless of creed, sexuality, or gender; especially as Doctor Who can be anything - it's only conjecture that the Doctor must be a white male, especially considering the fact that it IS a shapeshifting alien - nobody would try to claim that they are trying to 'fix' Doctor Who by making him black, and to refer to race in such a manner is frankly quite insulting

January 3, 200916 yr And also, in a way Craig, Doctor Who IS broke - what are the mathematical chances of the Doctor being an English white male in all 11 of his incarnations to date? :P
January 3, 200916 yr David just gave something away, he is the youngest Dr. ever, has to be Matt Smith
January 3, 200916 yr And also, in a way Craig, Doctor Who IS broke - what are the mathematical chances of the Doctor being an English white male in all 11 of his incarnations to date? :P I've just calculated this: using the calculation that the population of Britain make up 0.9% of the world's population, that 87% of the British population are White British, and that 64% of this population are aged between 15 and 64, and that 48% of this population are male, one receives the percentage of the world's population being white, British and male as 0.241% (rounded to the nearest 0.001%) - when one calculates this percentage to the power of 11, one gets the percentage 1.55959814 × 10-7 - which comes out as 0.0000000156%. Surely a ridiculous tradition in this case? And it looks like it's to the power of 12 now that they've revealed the actor is 26 though, so the Daily Mail wins out again! -_-
January 3, 200916 yr It's Matt - FACT how interesting http://i.thisislondon.co.uk/i/pix/2008/05/41a_06_matt_243x334.jpg Edited January 3, 200916 yr by tombliboo
January 3, 200916 yr Hmm, i dont believe i've seen him in anything before so i'll wait and see. I would have rather prefered Patterson Joseph though.
January 3, 200916 yr I didn't watch the third series of the New Doctor Who much so hopefully next year I can get back into it ^_^ I think Matt has that eccentricness that should make him good
