As I said earlier I am a huge Sugababe fan and am hopeful that the album might pick up after Christmas if the project is not dropped by then. Onto the actual single if it does 'flop' then they will be the latest in a sucession of big artists expriencing 'flop' singles....

Kylie - The One #36

Madonna - Miles Away #38

Will Young - Grace #32

It seems that with the huge single sales being seen this year then a fanbase alone cannot guarantee a Top 10 single for artists who are used to nothing less...

As much as i like the sugababes, i think they always had their work cut out with this album because they seemed to drop off a little bit with change and denial, it just semt a little like the whole change album era was resting on about you now. I know they werent complete flops but both missed the top 10 and so i think they needed to come back with something massive to regain some steam.

Instead they brought Girls which i think really damaged their reputation and this is reflected in their album sales and recent single.

So when it comes to their next album, i think they seriously have a lot to do. Unless the sugababes completely change their target audience, i cant see them doing well atall in the uk music industry again.

Basically what i mean is, their next comeback single doesnt just need to be amazing, it needs to make people forget girls ever happened.

'About You Now' really overshadowed the other releases from 'Change' I agree but in my opinion they took a risk with 'Girls'. I hate the track - I despised the original and I can't even bear to hear the Sugababes version but I think we should congratulate them for at least daring to take a risk. It could've been received either way and unfortunately it wasn't with open arms and orgasms [unless you're PopJustice ].

I think 'Every Heart Broken' is the most obvious choice for the 3rd single as it is easily a fan favourite and would sound really good on the radio. There's potential to do a blinding video as well. Though personally I don't think any song on the album can save the era now. 'No Can Do' is good but like most of 'Catfights' it shines lyrically. You mentioned Jark that the production on some tracks is a bit ropey and I agree, the Sugababes have always delivered strong and clever lyrics coupled with amazing vocals and catchy hooks and such that make sure you have trouble putting their CDs down but 'Catfights' is just lacking the latter.

As an aside, I really am not 100% sure as to why everybody wants Every Heart Broken for third single. :( It's a great song but not a very obvious single in my eyes... I feel like Unbreakable Heart is much more youthful, glossy and American and would do a LOT better as a single!

It really is 'Every Heart Broken' or NOTHING if they're seriously going to push for a third single from this album. That is the album's only real key single as far as I can tell and how it's been avoided thus far is mystifying.

Like I've said though, with the way things are looking right now, nobody's going to care about a third single from this album no matter what it may be.

I do find it sad. Change wasn't a brilliant album (though it was a really good one) but the era in general WAS brilliant. Denial is one of my favourite Sugababes songs ever, the Change and Denial vids were great, both songs had good remixes, it felt like a really nice era. And sales were really decent too.

This album is stronger but on every other front it's the reverse - none of the excitement of the Change era really. :(

I know Jark, it's sad. I know what you mean about EHB. I'm glad i'm not the only one to think it's brilliant, but it doesn't feel like a single somehow, rather one of those excellent album tracks you discover when you bought the album for another song or something. I can see Sunday Rain increasingly as a single, and i think the video would be really cool for Spring ("standing on a platform, waiting for the train!" Girls all standing in big coats, leaves blowing by, etc.)
