Yes yes yes yes yes! I like the production, but she can't really sing, and the lyrics are AWFUL :puke:

I love IKAG (one of the best singles of the year for sure). I can accept that you can dislike the song but Katy CAN definitely sing live... :)

I'm not a fan of the term 'overrated' that much but here are a few songs which were big hits that I really couldn't understand why and a few songs that I just can't stand:

Kid Rock - All Summer Long

Mint Royale - Singing In The Rain

Take That - Greatest Day

Leona Lewis - Run

Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah

X Factor Finalists - Hero

Basshunter - Now You're Gone

The Saturdays - If This Is Love

Every Scouting For Girls single

The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved

Rihanna - Take A Bow

love rihanna/girls aloud but:

rihanna - take a bow

girls aloud - the promise

basshunter EVERYTHING this year!

x-factor (the songs are oke, but not THAT great for such big sales)

dizzee rascal - dance wiv me

Amazed at the number of people saying Greatest Day is overrated. It isn't overrated - even by Take That fans. By that I mean - even most of us Take That fans don't think its that great. No only is it not a patch on RTW - it can't really be classed on the same level as Patience or Shine. For that matter it isn't even on the same level as some of the early Take That stuff. And really - when a song got panned as much by critics as GD did ... then one can hardly accuse it of being overrated.

Womaniser on the other hand ... people were going WOW! Fabulous! Better than Toxic. It wasn't! It was shoite! IMO!

I'm talking overrated by the general public, as opposed to Take That fans and critics

it's sold over 200k in five weeks and was a huge No.1 single even though it's average at best and for me, the second weakest track on 'The Circus'

Sorry Rich - my apologies but when I see the word 'overrated' I assume by critical acclaim - not sales. By the way - there are at least four other songs on the album that are much worse. I was discussing the album at the weekend with a friend that I've not seen in ages. We agreed to a note the worst songs on the album. Luckily there are about four songs on the album that are so utterly sublime that it more than makes up for the weaker efforts.

Dunno if these were this year but

Adele - chasing pavements

Nickelback - Rockstar

And

Sugababes - Girls

Sam sparro - black and gold

But first prize goes to womanizer. Average song that sounds like most of what she did before. People were excited about her comeback, not the song itself.

Oh and also, as much as i love take thats greatest day, i dont think it was as good as people were making out. Nowhere near as good as some of their other recent songs.

maybe, but then some of the songs other people are listing here are songs that were big sales hits but had no critical acclaim whatsoever, e.g. X Factor's Hero, Kid Rock's All Summer Long, Basshunter etc...

I see overrated to mean either sales or critical acclaim...if we are talking about critical acclaim, that opens up a whole new can of worms, most of the songs topping NME and other 'cool' lists are terrible in my opinion...Julie and Greatest Day are the only songs I flick past on 'The Circus', the rest of the album is magnificent

I am so glad you picked up on Julie! This is one of the 'worse' songs I was referring to (along with Hello and What Is Love in case you were wondering!) I've heard rumours however that Julie may be a single! Horror of horrors! I hate it!

it wouldn't surprise me at all actually, it's very infectious, but also very annoying with the 'shalalalala' bit...I'd much prefer Up All Night or Hold Up A Light if they are going for a Mark-led single

What Is Love and Hello are next in my least favourites list funnily enough but still get 7/10 at least from me

All the substandard Sugababes singles

Chav-tastic Basshunter...total embarrassing nonsense... makes Cascada seem like Beethoven

Rihanna.... her vile song with TI is inexcusable... the rest of her output? She sounds like she needs her sinuses clearing, poor girl. Horrid.

Kid Rock - did people lose their minds... not only this trash - but Nickelback too? Jeeeeez.

The Saturdays - whatever the single that they brutalised Yazoo's classic for was called - they should be skinned alive for crimes against music. And fashion.

Take That - Greatest Day - awful single (Mr Barlow struggling with them notes again...ouch)...the album's great - strange choice for a first single, though.

Madonna - the whole album was pretty toe-curling (and THAT cover 'art'...eeeeek) but 4 Minutes was a pitiful low-point in her career. And Miles Away...surely her worst-ever single apart from Gambler and Take a Bow? Give It 2 Me was great, though.

Mamma Mia... ABBA were a class act... gusset-drippingly brilliant. But Mamma Mia is a shockingly naff karaoke run-through of ABBA's weakest most commercial, bland moments... quite why anyone would want an album of atrocious ABBA karaoke songs is beyond me... please make it stop. This is just muzak for 25 - 35 year old fat birds in pink feather boas on Bacardi-Breezer-drenched hen nights in skirts that show off their corned-beef legs and stretch marks. Should be illegal.

Westlife/Boyzone..... now that Louis Walsh has err.. 'discovered' another nubile bunch of young men to err... 'mould' into stardom (does JLS stand for some lurid gay sex act? I think Louis hopes it does....).... can we please hope 2009 sees the end of these awful, awful, awful middle-aged housewives' favourites?

the important thing to remember is that with all Take That albums - simply skip the tracks that Mark Owen decides to ruin... err...'sing'.

What Is Love is great, though.... one of the highlights! :o

Its the 'sha la la's' that get me every time!!!! Did anyone, ever, ever, ever say those words to another? I'm certain Up All Night is the next single and I was hoping for 'Said It All' as the third and final single ... but this is where I think Julie will 'p*** on the parade'. It deserves to flop a hell of a lot more than I'd Wait For Life did (and that was a godawful choice of single) on Beautiful World. But you see this is what happens when people are anxious for Gary Barlow to give up lead altogether and hand it over to Mark! I think on their third and final album for Polydor - we'll see Gary Barlow just do one song and Mark do all the others!

the sha-la-la bits.... what's that song "wo-o-o it's magic...you knooooow'? It's that, isn't it?

Your hate to Mark Owen , Norma, doesn't surpise me a bit anymore. How he dare to have his own style and how he dare to bring it on the album they write together! He should stand back as in the first time or barrely bringing his own mind as in the BW and be happy that Gary takes the lead and does anything for the whole TT. Perhaps Mark should not come on the stage anymore, what for? I think that will make you happy and other TT die-hard fans as well. But you miss the point, isn't it? This project is a team one. That Mark has more lead comes actually because he brings also his own ideas and i am happy that Jason and Howard seem to mellow very well with it.

The Circus has clear two very different styles in it. The Barlow style, with which we are well accustomed from the first time and from the songs he wrote for his solo time and for others, like Katherine Jenkins. The Owen style, which we know (well, at least I know) from his own solo works. They are both now mature songwriters with developed taste in music. The listeners may like both or only one but only to have one of them won't represent TT but only a single "voice" and "mind" and not four. That would be no TT anymore IMO (yes, as much as I would like only Owen style songs). This is Take That band and The Circus is a band / team effort and not Gary Barlow with three backing singers. Should also Howard and Jason have more songwriting knowledge, i am sure they would bring their own style also. I am sure enough would Gary not want the things like that he would release a new solo album with very big success, as he is seen now from the media and publicum as a very good songwriter. Where it is place for Elton John, Il Divo and Katherine Jenkins, it is also for Gary Barlow.

IWFL was actually quite nice, but not very good as a single. It wasn't helped either with the lack of promotion and a weird video. You didn't liked Greatest day and it was still No 1 in UK and i heard a lot of people who liked it. It would be the same if Julie or Up all night or whatever other song would be released. Some you would like, some I. Some you would despise and get very vocal, some I will only not buy and not support (like i didn't with Greatest Day).

Iris! For Christ's Sake! I do NOT hate Mark Owen. He is a great performer and he contributes greatly to Take That both in the recording studio and the live performances (in fact ... even greater than any of the others in the live shows). But for heavens sake Iris - take the blinkers off - Julie is a $h!te song! End of. I challenge any non-Take That fans here to listen to the tracks and tell us what you think of this track!!!!! And if the reason for you not joining in on the Take That forum is that we cannot agree on this one song (despite the fact that I appreciate you think the track 'The Circus' is $h!te) then quite frankly ... stay away!

And on I'd Wait For Life ... that was $h!te as well!

Norma

May I apologise in advance for taking a Take That squabble into another forum here ... I shall not do so again!

Although you must sneakily admit that this insight into the Take That 'in-house' squabblings is quite intriguing!!!!! Just goes to show we're human ... and we appreciate when our artists turn out good and bad stuff!!!!!!

Mark Owen's a pitiful 'singer'...end of.

Get him outta the band..... he ruins at least 4 tracks on The Circus.

'I'd Wait for Life' & 'Greatest Day' are my fave Take That songs since they got back together XD

I forget

The Promise - Girls aloud

Rihanna - Take a Bow

Killers - Human :(

Take That - Greatest Day - very dissapoiting new single
