Well why do people bother posting updates at all in that case? Everybody can just click the link themselves...

 

And actually the feed doesn't work in the internet browser on my laptop, clicking it just causes everything to freeze. I didn't think it was THAT much to ask that people just include one extra song in their updates for the next few days.

It's out of the top 40, it's had its physical release, it's falling, it's peaked in promotion and airplay, it's irrelevant. I really don't know why it's so important to keep having its position posted! Of course there should be rules, the people that do the updates spend long enough doing them as it is, without posting falling songs just because a few people are interested. If people are so bothered about a falling flop song then it's easy to check, you have the feed and iTunes itself. And if you cant, then as you say enough people want to know, I'm sure one of their fanboys will post its position anyway!

Well, surely it's up to EVERYONE to talk about something else and about other artist.

In my opinion there are too many updates. You have to go trailing back through the pages to see a songs true progress up the chart (even from 24hrs ago). A song that in the latest update may only have gone 19-18 may have actually gone 50-34-19-18 in one day but the update doesn't reflect this. I know people are trying to help but sometimes it's actually quite the opposite.

I like the iTunes chart, and I'm greatful to EJ87 and everyone else who is involved, but maybe we need a new format, and we should post chart runs and peaks instead of, or as well as the full chart? I agree that it's long winded and confusing, and that there are, maybe, too many updates.

I like an update as soon as something changes so that its easier to see how songs progress.

Nonsense. In a thread that has produced 887 posts and 26,149 views in little over a week there are going to be a few pages. An update once every 4/5 hours is hardly excessive given the volume of posts.

I also understand what your saying, however I don't like the idea of one update a day..Fair enough if it's what the majority want, but I regularly visit the Itunes thread to track songs progress and see how a song climbs or falls throughout the day..

 

I personally would rather an update when a few songs have moved..Fair enough when there's only a couple of songs moving on an update, but I like to see and know how fast songs are climbing throughout the day or falling.

 

Perhaps we could just post the major movers or recent releases throughout the day and then a full update once a day in the evening?

Another forum I visit has a weekly thread with one update per day and it's much easier to read and understand exactly what's going on. I do think 1 or 2 updates per day would be much better. Of course there's nothing to stop members discussing any other changes that happen between the post of a full update but to make it easier for those who don't follow it religiously there should be one main update post

 

By the way my post wasn't meant to offend those who post the charts. I'm just a making suggestion.

Sounds good to me. I realise now that one update a day probably is too few, so I changed my message. But this thread does often get more out of control than the latest GA album!

I come here to READ the thread. To see what's going on in the iTunes chart, but then it becomes completely boring when post and post after post after post is about Girls Aloud or whatever.
