Black Eyed Peas continue to reign over the Singles Chart this week, confirming ‘I Gotta Feeling’ as the track of the summer. With six weeks at No1 under their belt they are two weeks shy of the longest running No1 of the last couple of years – Leona Lewis’ ‘Bleeding Love’ which dominated the Chart for eight weeks in 2007. Mr Hudson and Kanye West take ‘Supernova’ one place nearer to the top as they climb from No3 to No2 while David Guetta’s collaboration with Akon – ‘Sexy Chick’ – moves up three places from No6 to No3. Jay-Z , Rihanna & Kanye West jump twelve places as ‘Run This Town’ climbs from No16 to No4, ahead of Tinchy Stryder who completes the Top 5 with ‘Never Leave You’, down three places from No2. The Script take another week at No1 on the Album Chart, their seventh in total since the release of their debut album a year ago. Over the course of the year they’ve spent a remarkable eight months in the Top 10 – and only slipped out of the Top 30 once when they dropped to No31 back in June. Florence & The Machine are the nearest challenger to The Script this week, up from No3 to No2 having spent seven weeks in the Top 5 since the release of their debut ‘Lungs’. There are two new entries in this week’s Top 10: Calvin Harris ‘Ready For The Weekend’ at No6 and Tinchy Stryder ‘Catch 22’ at No9. For Calvin, this is his second album following ‘I Created Disco’, which debuted and peaked at No34 two years ago, and for Tinchy, this is his debut album following three Top 20 singles. August 22, 200915 yr Author What the hell is that at #15 in the singles? From Downloadmusic.ie IDENTITY PARADE Identity Parade; with their own unique blend of powerful, upbeat and tasteful energetic songs with catchy melodies are creating a new refreshing sound and vibe. The band have played alongside; Republic Of Loose, The Blizzards and have played venues such as Whelans, The Button Factory, Vicar Street, Earwig Tuam Arts Festival alongside The Coronas and have also played the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool, building a reputation as an exciting live act attracting bigger crowds on their musical journey. Identity Parade have spent most of 2008 recording their debut album due to be released in late 2009. The album has been completed by the bands Producer, John Turps in Dublin @ Asylum Studios with mixing engineer and Producer/Guitarist, Liam Mulvaney, (Greys Anatomy Best of Series Soundtrack). The album project has been recorded on location at Bermingham House Tuam Co Galway, a safe haven for Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull in the late 60´s, Asylum Studios in Dublin and 147 studios also in Dublin. Identity Parade debuted in the Irish Single Charts in May 2007 with 'One For The Road and the first single of the bands debut album OOH OOH went to NO1 on download.ie May 29th 09. "Ooh OOh" the first promo single for the album went to No33 in the Irish Charts (the only Irish artists in the top 50 that week with U2), the single was also No1 in the Irish download charts and No8 in the CD physical charts. The video for "OOH OOH" is fast becoming a hit on YOUTUBE and was created by www.cashmeremedia.ie. "We are very proud of the collaboration between IDENTITY PARADE and CASHMEREMEDIA. It is one of the finest music video's we have created and the youtube response reflects this." Tony Callaly, Cashmere Media The bands 2nd single from the album is "COLLETTE COLLAR" and a video is in the pipeline again with Cashmeremedia due for august 14th release with the single. In the Bands Own Words; Kev and Paul through a mutual friend met about 7 years ago, but it wasn’t until 2005 that they started writing together, messing about on acoustic guitars in Kev’s front room. We connected from the first jam together and it started to work well, so after a short time we decided to get a band together. I was working for the same company as Dan at the time and him being a drummer was obviously gonna be the first person I’d ask. It went something like this, “Any chance you wanna drum in our band Dan”, an affirmative “Yeah” and that was it, we had our drummer. We mentioned that we played rhythm guitar and bass so Dan asked his mate Connor to come down and play lead guitar for us, it worked! I think with the type of songs we had the music was asking us for keyboards and extra colour, we didn’t have to look far. John was a good mate of Dan and Conor and they asked him if he would be interested in joining the band, it was the icing on the cake for us really. Anyone in a band knows how hard it is to make things work when the pieces don’t fit, we were lucky in that respect, everything fitted, it felt right. We are all big believers in a good song, regardless of its genre or who sings it. It’s amazing what you can come up with if you don’t worry about what people think and just give it a try. I People have said on one of our songs after seeing us live, “I like it, but where does it fit?” It’s a pop song with a country/folk twist surrounded by all these rock songs, the fact that people like it is what makes it fit. I guess we will always be a rock band at heart, whatever music we write/create or release in the future. When you’re growing up if music becomes your thing, you tend to form friendships with people who are into the same or similar types of music as you, it’s just the nature of it I guess. After the band had been together for a time we realised we had this huge melting pot of musical influence, right now and in the last year during the pre production and recording process of making our debut album it has allowed us to discover more about the music and to follow it wherever it takes us. It seemed and felt like the natural thing for us to do and still does. By the summer of 2006 with a batch of new songs under our belt, the we set out upon the Dublin gigging circuit to develope our live act, the outcome being an appearance with The Blizzards in UCD. After that gig we were invited by Hotpress to support the Republic of Loose on the Dublin leg of their Irish college Tour playing in DCU. We kept our heads down and kept at it and by the Spring of 2007 we had made an appearance in the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool where the infamous Beatles cut their teeth. In April 2007 we released our debut single, an original song called 'One for the Road' independently & it debuted at No.37 in the Irish Top 40. Again we spent our time writing and rehearsing getting the odd gig and working on our live act. It was at one of these gigs that we were introduced to John 'Turps' (former founder Saw Doctor, Co Producer and Honorary Waterboy). We talked, met a month later at a gig in the then Hub, and found that we got on really well and connected in a sense, so plans were made to get together with the possibly of working with John Turps to record an album with Turps Produicng, I think we both recognised that there was a potential to work together and develope our music. Much of 2008 was spent working on the songs arrangements and beginning to develope the songwriting craft, then pre-producing the songs chosen to record for the album with a once off time out live appearance which turned out to be a highlight for us, playing The Tuam Arts Festival in Galway as support to The Coronas. The Album has been recorded on location in Bermingham House Tuam Co Galway, Asylum Studios Dublin & 147 Studios Dublin. Mixed at Asylum Studios Dublin, Mastered at Masterlabs. A video is being made with Cashmeremedia a succesfull Dublin company. Ooh, new peak (I think?) for Mr Hudson too :w00t: and Jay-Z :w00t: New peak for both (Mr Hudson chart run 7 4 3 3 2)

Two years ago the follow-up album repeated the chart feat, spending three weeks on top and this week Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys make it three out of three with ‘Humbug’ taking the Irish Album Chart crown, ahead of The Script who drop to No2. With two singles in the Top 20, (‘Sexy Chick’ & ‘When Love Takes Over’), David Guetta has the next new entry at No3 with ‘One Love’, his fourth album and the first to make the Irish chart.. Florence & The Machine slip two places to No4 with ‘Lungs’, one place ahead of Black Eyed Peas ‘The E.N.D.’ at No5. Industry debut at No1 on this week’s Singles Chart with their second release ‘Burn’, repeating the formula that took ‘My Baby’s Waiting’ to No1 back in June – a string of gigs at record stores around the country. Black Eyed Peas drop to No2 after six weeks at No1 with ‘I Gotta Feeling’, ahead of David Guetta & Akon, steady at No3 with ‘Sexy Chick’, and Jay-Z, Rihanna & Kanye West whose ‘Run This Town’ is also a non-mover at No4. Dizzee Rascal has the next new entry at No5 with ‘Holiday’, his third Irish hit following ‘Dance Wiv Me’ and ‘Bonkers’ which reached No5 and No3 respectively. Shakyfan's Commentary 62 63 Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death & All His Friends A typo in last week's album listing put Coldplay six places higher than they should have been. They were actually at 69. And over a year late I've spotted an error in the album chart from week 28 of 2008 - I had Nelly Furtado's "Loose" as a re-entry at 95 when it should have been 97. August 28, 200915 yr Ugh! What is this $h!te at No.1?!? Fairly boring chart this week... dissapointed that Remedy didn't break the top ten yet, but going by iTunes it'll do this next week. And on to next weeks chart... it's fairly obvious that the Sugababes will be No.1. They've been on iTunes since midnight and are already top ten. Surprised also to see Wale & Lady GaGa at No.25 (on iTunes I mean). Also, I Gotta Feeling has now equalled the record for longest serving No.1 download. Eight weeks! I do like it and everything but it really doesn't deserve this!! Edited August 28, 200915 yr by Irishguy123
August 28, 200915 yr Also, Mika can only scrape No.21 with his comeback single on a slow chart week. That's a bit of a disaster!
August 28, 200915 yr I think you should not worry much on the Mika track yet. Give it about 2 more weeks. Edited August 28, 200915 yr by FM11
August 28, 200915 yr I think you should not worry much on the Mika track yet. Give it about 2 more weeks. I'm not sure to be honest... I think it sounds far too like his previous stuff.
August 28, 200915 yr Industry again? Boring week. I wanna know what that Jester thang is though.
August 30, 200915 yr Industry again? Boring week. I wanna know what that Jester thang is though. most independant irish bands dont get up on youtube for ages, if at all...:(
August 31, 200915 yr Looks like Get Sexy won't be getting to No.1 after all... it's after slipping to No.3 on iTunes :(
August 31, 200915 yr Thankfully, it seems possible Sugababes will miss the #1 over in the UK too - Jay-Z is developing a lead at #1 on UK iTunes now. It'll be a close battle, but I'm sorta thinking it'll be Jay at #1 now...
September 1, 200915 yr Looks like Get Sexy won't be getting to No.1 after all... it's after slipping to No.3 on iTunes :( well i find you can't rely on iTunes in Ireland, i think Run This Town, will be number one Thankfully, it seems possible Sugababes will miss the #1 over in the UK too - Jay-Z is developing a lead at #1 on UK iTunes now. It'll be a close battle, but I'm sorta thinking it'll be Jay at #1 now... whereas in the UK i think Sugababs will just pip it
