Here at #70 are the Ting Tings with their UK #1 "That's My Name". It only reached #7 in my chart but it had tough competition at the time as it charted around Eurovision time and was in the top 10 with about three songs that are in my year end top 10. This song is catchy as hell but they have an even better song yet to come. At #69 is Sharleen Spiteri, she was technically in a tie with the previous song and as they had almost identical chart runs I just picked this because I prefer it. *shrug* This song kinda came out of nowhere for me, I was a fan of Texas back when I was about 9/10 and I went for years without thinking about them and all of a sudden the lead singer comes back with a 60s influenced single and I love it. Next up is the latest James Bond theme, this divided most people - they either thought it was $h!t or great. I'm in the latter category. Alicia is amazing and she works with Jack White so well. Katy Perry is at #67 with her superior second single. It's another one that kinda got caught up in the manic few weeks of December last year where I had about 6 songs competing for the #1 while this was at #9. Still, it makes the top 70 of my year end chart despite currently being on my chart. It should be a classic in years to come, it certainly hasn't worn off yet like her first single did. It's a shame she doesn't have any other decent songs really. Oh, so maybe Keri Hilson wasn't the highest song that didn't get a proper UK release, "Stay Down" is at #66 and I think there's another one to come yet. Initially I found that "Just Fine" was the only good song on her last album but when I gave this the attention it deserved it grew on me loads and eventhough it was never released here it spent a good 12 weeks on my chart, peaking at #5.

Starting off this next lot is the comeback single from the Pussycat Dolls. I was a bit disappointed in this to start with and it never reached my top 10, making it the second highest song in this chart to have that claim. This song had good longevity though as I'm still not bored of it. Yes, it's trashy, but I think it's one of their best. Alphabeat are next with their best song and the only one to make my top 20, let alone my top 5. This is totally camp, cheesy Pop at it's best. At #63 I have Mark Ronson and Phantom Planet covering the only Radiohead song I seem to recall liking. It achieved the rare feat of making the top 5 while being a male vocal only track. Leona is at #62 with the last #1 of 2008/first of 2009, if released earlier in the year this could have definitely been a contender for a slot in my top 10 of the year. If only Snow Patrol were less dull, I always seem to love their songs when covered by others whether it's Leona Lewis or Natasha Bedingfield. Leona totally made this her own on Radio 1, the studio version is a little overdone however. Lastly is Britney with the final single from "Blackout", I would have preferred them to release "Radar" over this but it wasn't meant to be. "Break The Ice" is quite good actually, if I had the Wideboys radio edit of this from the start it would have probably given her another #2 in my chart as songs always sound better when the Wideboys have touched it.

17. Gabriella Cilmi - Lessons To Be Learned

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/PREGABCILMI.JPG

Highlights: Sweet About Me, Got No Place To Go, Don't Want To Go To Bed Now

Least Favorite: Einstein

After "Sweet About Me" I was excited about Gabriella and I asked for the album for my birthday. I thought it was a bit hot and cold. The good stuff is really good and the average stuff is really quite average. I really love the three highlight tracks and why only one of them was released I don't know. "Save The Lies" was actually really decent and it's probably my fourth favourite on the album but I didn't rate it much as a single. "Sanctuary" was a bit of an odd choice as it seemed like a filler track to me, it's nice but forgettable. "Einstein" is the most boring track on the album so placing it after "Sanctuary" probably wasn't the best move. Overall it was a decent album but I haven't given it a full listen for a few months.

Ooh, that's a high enough amount for me. ^_^

VV probably would have been higher if it was released as a big single. I think lack of airplay and time it spends in the chart does affect my chart at times.

Kicking off this section is the sond I under rated the most this year. It's peak in my chart is also where it is on the list of most played songs in my iTunes since March so it really deserved more. It's so beautiful and haunting. At least it get's to be recognised as the longest running song on my chart to miss the top 10 and the highest non-top 10 in this chart. Next up is the reutning single of a one-hit wonder amd she didn't manage to shake that tag off with this. This is much better than her punk rocker song, it's 2 and a half minutes of sing along joy. [/lameness] Kate Nash scrapes into this chart as she peaked at #2 in the last week of 2007/first of 2008. "Pumpkin Soup" is a nice fun song and I think I prefer it over "Foundations" but it does seem a bit old now as it spent an extra month in my chart in 2007 as well as the first three months of 2008. The Pussycat Dolls are next with what I consider to be their best ever single. It may as well be a Nicole track as the others don't do anything on this but it's good nonetheless. It just misses out on the top 50 despits only being in my chart for 9 weeks of 2008, if it had been the lead single it could have been much higher. Sam Sparro opened this countdown at #100 and now he leaves it at #56 with "Black & Gold". This was really good but it got really overplayed which has put it in my 'slightly boring' category, hopefully it will recover from that soon as this is a really good song.

At #55 is Little Jackie, I first heard this on Radio 1 a while before it was released and I was desperate to find out what it was as I LOVED what I heard. It's really instant but it wore off quite quickly in the end which is why it didn't spend long in the bottom half of my chart. It's stil good to listen to every once in a while. Beyoncé next with her lead single for this era, it's a bit like she's singing an episode of Loose Women but I still manage to like it somehow, it's far from her best but it's still a decent song. Had it not dipped into the top 10 for one week it could have had the unlucky award for being at #11 for 5 consecutive weeks. At #53 is Britney with her 'comeback' single. (was she ever gone?!) Yes, she sounds like a robot and yes she says the word 'womanizer' 62.43 times too many but it's extremely catchy and it WILL get in your head, even if you don't like it. Solange is next with what is probably in my top 10 songs of the year, it's only so low because it's still in the charts and it entered my chart properly so long after hearing it. I first heard it when Jack entered it to the 7th BJSC and it entered my chart for 4 weeks off the back of that and by the time it was actually released I had played it so much that it only managed to spend 2 weeks at the top of my chart. It could have been one of my longest runners if it was released first instead of "I Decided". Completing this section is the first of a few Alicia Keys flop singles from this year and the first song to break 300 points. It's a shame this has missed the top 50 as it's one of her better singles, I don't know what I was thinking letting it only peak at #6 in my chart. I guess I wasn't into this properly like I am now at the time, I think I found the whole acting like she's a teenager thing put me off at first.

16. Beth Rowley - Little Dreamer

Highlights: Beautiful Tomorrow, Oh My Life, Sweet Hours

Least Favourite: Only One Cloud

This was a bit of an impulse buy. Morrisons was doing an offer, I think it was £6 for any chart CDs or something and I picked this up on the basis that "Oh My Life" was really good. Usually I don't do that with albums but luckily this didn't disappoint. She's a bit like a mix between Duffy and Laura Marling I think. She's basically the one out of Adele, Duffy and herself that didn't take off, she certainly went under my radar until about June. This album is packed with great songs but not hits. It's only this low on my countdown because it's one of those albums that I've bought and loved but I haven't given it that many spins to show it.

10/10 - Keep this up now wont you. Most of these were top 10's for me actually, great group.

Heh, I'll try Aled. Mimi has a few songs in this though and I know you don't like her. :(

She's a bit hit and miss, Touch My Body was allrigh whilst i adored Loving You long Time. Bye Bye was just awful and I Stay In Love is dull.

Aww, you should give the I Stay In Love remix I linked to a listen, I think it makes the song better and less 'dull'.

And obviously loving the Santogold entries

I reckon the bottom 50 of this is more your thing, I'd be surprised if you liked anywhere near as many of the rest.

I heard the Foals album but I didn't like that much of it. "Cassius" is amazing and "Balloons" is quite good but I wasn't fond of the rest. I charted "Olympic Airways" for one week though.

Santogold should have been much higher with both songs really but it's my fault for giving them stupid chart runs. -_-

At #50 is Mariah Carey with what nearly became my least successful #1 in the history of my chart, spending only 10 weeks on the chart, it did get old quickly. Then the Designer Drugs remix was brought to my attention and it was so amazing (I've linked to it ^_^) that the song had to re-enter my chart where it spent the last 3 weeks of 2008 in my chart and remains there into 2009. Rihanna next with another song that re-entered my chart. It first spent 3 weeks in my chart on a rare occasion of a really good album track managing to chart then 5 weeks later it started to take off in the official chart so it re-charted and peaked at #5. I doubt anyone on Buzzjack is unaware of this track so you'll all know how catchy it is. But part of it's catchiness is that repetitiveness which, in time, translates to an annoying factor which is why it didn't peak too highly and didn't fall slowly in my chart. At #48 is my entry to BJSC XI where it finished in the top 5. Usually my own entry should reach #1 if it's a song that gets released but she was kept off by Alesha Dixon. This song is too amazing for words and it's done well to spent 9 weeks in the top 12 in 2008, it will stick around in my chart for a while yet. At #47 is Alicia Keys with the under stated, softly performed "Like You'll Never See Me Again" this is such a beautiful song. I just have a grudge against it for it being released and ruining what could have been a great era for her in the UK after "No One" was big. Duffy next with the UK's best-selling non-X Factor song of 2008. I think it's a bit over rated personally, she has better songs. This song took quite a while to grow on me, peaking in it's seventh week on my chart.

SOME DAYS I'M A SUPER BITCH. Yup, it's Christina with the single from her Greatest Hits. On first listen it was a little disappointing then by the fifth listen it was AMAZING but after about 20 listens I'm back to thinking it was a little disappointing. I don't regret letting it reach #2 in my chart but I was expecting more from her. Hopefully 2009 is a better year for Xtina. Rpbyn makes her second appearance in this batch and her final one in this countdown. This is another song that took ages to grow properly or, rather, I wasn't happy that it's peak was almost #9. This isn't as good as 'Dream On' and had this chart extended by a week that would have shown. This is still her second or third best song though so that's alright. At #43 I've got Leona with what felt like a comeback single. (well, she was gone from the UK for about as long as Britney) This spent 2 weeks at #1 in my chart but despite it being one of the most successful in those terms it's currently lower in my chart than most of the 'divas' who returned at the same sort of time so it doesn't seem to have the longevity. (Bey/Xtina/Alesha/Britney) Jennifer Lopez is next with her undeserved flop "Hold It, Don't Drop It", I guess people aren'tinterested in the Lopez any more. It's a shame as I think it's one of her best singles and albums. :( Finally is Rihanna with her second song in this batch, "Take A Bow" which I think is one of her best ballads excluding "Hate That I Love You". I don't think it's as bad as some people say but I don't think it deserved to be a UK #1 for her either.

15. Sugababes - Catfights & Spotlights

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1787209.JPG

Highlights: Hanging On A Star, Can We Call A Truce, Every Heart Broken

Least Favourite: Girls

The number 15 album this year for me is the latest Sugababes album. This album really didn't deserve to flop but when you put the worst track out as the lead single what can you expect. Then when you follow it up with a track that isn't one of the best on the album it's practically doomed. This album is surprisingly packed with some good songs, "Hanging On A Star" being my favourite for being obviously catchy without using music from an annoying advert. The beautiful "Can We Call A Truce" is a close second, it's hard not to like it. "Every Heart Broken", "Side Chick" and "You On A Good Day" are also very good album tracks while the only songs I'm not particularly fond of are "Girls" and "Sunday Rain". It's not like "Sunday Rain" is a bad song, but those sorts of songs from the 'babes have never been my sort of thing.
