I've heard a few of the album tracks on You Tube, Glass is amazing, but I can't pick any other stand out tracks from the rest, but I still think Daniel is the best track from it, the band Fleetwood Mac springs to mind on Daniel. The album could be in contention for a Mercury Award in September though.

The albums on Spotify Mart!n :o

Love this album

Daniel and Glass are definitely my favourites, though. Absolutely brilliant songs!

I agree - Daniel sounds quite similar to Fleetwood Mac's Rhiannon to me, and I love that track too.

bought this album today, absolutely fantastic much to my shock, seeing as I've never listened to her music before (just bought it to try and bring some credibility into my music collection )

I don't know the names of the tracks yet as I've just had it on in the car, but I love the first 4 tracks

I agree with thisispop - Two Suns is far and away this year's best album.

People talk about many female artists who try, always unsuccessfully, to fill the empty boots left by Kate Bush.

Bat For Lashes is the only artist worthy.

This album, and especially the single, is phenomenal - way above the heads of Joe Public, but then.... who cares about chart positions when you're making art this intelligent, this different and this special?

The album's a 10/10 for me. Incredible.

It's easily somewhere in the high 7 (perhaps low 8) range for me. Daniel, Glass, Sleep Alone, and Pearl's Dream are amazing, but there are duds as well. It's catchy, creative / quirky in places, but the duds bring it down. The thing is, when Kate Bush came out, there was no one around like her. Bat for Lashes's influences are painfully obvious.

Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion is still, easily, the best album of the year for me...

It's a headphones album. Listen to Summertime Clothes, amazinggg. The chorus blows me away.

Bat for Lashes is good, I will admit (considering I didn't like it all a few weeks ago), but something still feels to over ambitious to me. Her lyrics can get incredibly cheesy at times and I'm not really sure she has the lyrical talent to pull off what she's going for.

Daniel is absolutely stunning still though. I'm guessing it flopped?

I agree with all of this. I do like 'Two Suns', and I certainly think it's a better album than 'Fur & Gold' but it's not that good! The standard of albums I've bought this year has been really high tbh, but 'Merriweather Post Pavilion' is indeed head and shoulders above anything else.

'Daniel' is set to give her her first top 40 hit here, may reach the top 30 tomorrow as it's climbing iTunes quite rapidly!

It's been on there for a while now but it's only this week it's really started to do anything. The album was #3 in the midweeks all week but will probably be overtaken by Kings of Leon. I do love them but it really is overkill now!
I like her quite a bit now too but I agree with above; she's a little over-rated. She wears her influences just a little too obviously and she never will come close to Kate Bush (well maybe in 20 years time if she drops the mimicry) because mimicking is what she's doing. I love 'Moon and Moon' for example because it sounds like/reminds me of KATE BUSH, throwing in some synths isn't enough for me to distinguish her as some individualist.

Did anyone hear her cover of Use Somebody on Live Lounge this week?

Simply stunning!

Wasn't she simply incredible on last night's Jools Holland?!

She was sublime and the best thing on it. (I was a bit disappointed by Madness being surprised how they were not as good as Spandau Ballet on the Jonathan Ross Show). I watched it & I thought I recognised one or two members of her band:

Bat For Lashes - Daniel (live on Later)

Bat For Lashes - Sleep Alone (live on Later)

The latest line-up includes singer/songwriter keyboardist Ben Christopher, former Ash guitarist turned solo Charlotte Hatherley and New Young Pony Club drummer Sarah Jones.
