April 4, 20196 yr So I've managed to listen to the remixes :kink: The 2019 Edit is fab. It stays true to the original but leads with the drop before heading into Calvin's vocals and there's more prominence on the production. Now the CamelPhat Remix is something else and definitely stands out here. It's the typical sort of production we'd expect from them but it just flips it on its head and definitely needs to be pushed as the front-running version! I wasn't overly fussed when I saw Thomas Schumacher was doing a remix but crikey it's big tech/acid house banger and I love it.
April 4, 20196 yr I doubt he's pushing this as his next proper single. Even if the new versions do get a lot of first week streams, the song will still be on ACR anyway.
April 4, 20196 yr Will it not count as a brand new release given it's a 2019 version? We've not really had this happen yet with a mainstream release that has the potential to be big unless I'm forgetting something.
April 4, 20196 yr It’s been a while since a “year x” version of an older song has done well in the charts hasn’t it? I remember a flurry of them in 2008 (‘Infinity’, ‘Toca’s Miracle’, ‘Somethin’ Good’ etc), I hope this can get a new lease of life, such a banger (although I haven’t heard any of the new mixes yet!).
April 4, 20196 yr The 2019 Edit is fab. It stays true to the original but leads with the drop before heading into Calvin's vocals and there's more prominence on the production.I'm kind of sure that the intro before the drop in the 2019 Edit is part of the intro of the extended mix of the song. Anyway, it's a little underwhelming for me that he cut the first verse, although I assume it's to focus more in the production as you mentioned. As a side note, the CamelPhat remix has been included on Spotify's NMF playlist.
April 5, 20196 yr The 2019 edit is a nice touch but I was hoping for more of a new take on the song rather than just a little extra production I guess the CamelPhat remix serves that purpose (which I'm very much enjoying)
April 5, 20196 yr Really enjoying the Camelphat remix! Bit disappointed with the 2019 re-Edit. Seems pointless to me!
April 5, 20196 yr There's another CamelPhat remix (labeled as CamelPhat Remix II), which is available exclusively on Beatport. JguykkW4rMY Also, the aforementioned CamelPhat remix was chosen as the Hottest Record on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show today. @1114233925835141122 Edited April 5, 20196 yr by Juan Carlos ⚡️
April 9, 20196 yr The whole remix package has been serviced to US Pop and Dance formats and it was included in the latest Columbia promo newsletter. It should also be considered that "I'm Not Alone" wasn't sent to US radio when it was released ten years ago.
April 9, 20196 yr It looks like the song has now been lifted off ACR (because of the new version) as it now appears in the midweek chart update in the top 60 (yet it wasn't there on Monday). Hope this means they're giving it somewhat of a push.
April 10, 20196 yr It’s not off ACR - this is being charted separately as "I’m Not Alone 2019" which if not rectified by Friday, I guess let’s us know about what they’re gonna do with 'official' new versions of old classics :D Also looks to be credited to just Calvin. April 10, 20196 yr oh I understood it didn't chart last week cos it was on acr for being old Edited April 10, 20196 yr by Bjork
April 10, 20196 yr Not sure if the record company has only just had it cleared with the OCC to be included as a separate release.
April 10, 20196 yr oh I understood it didn't chart last week cos it was on acr for being old It didn’t chart last week because it was only released on Friday :P
