January 21, 200916 yr Oh yeah i forgot Rihanna/Chris relesead in 2007 aswell. I guess that's why Taio isnt nominated aswell.No. Taio released his last year :P
January 21, 200916 yr Can somebody tell me why Take That have fewer nominations than Scouting For Girls? Especially when you consider that Take That's album sold a million copies quicker than any other album this century. And to Aled - Taio Cruz didn't get nominated 'cos he's crap. The Circus will probably be nominated in next year's awards. I don't think its eligible for this year's ones! Beautiful World similarly in 2006 / 2007 - but qualified for the 2008 Awards. And I'm quite glad Greatest Day wasn't nominated if I'm being honest! That's why I'm quite happy with the one nomination they've got ... even though Coldplay will win that one. At least they can all go to the bar and get the drinks when the winner is announced from that group. Besides its better to be nominated for just one and not win it! What about those in previous years who've been nominated for four and come away empty-handed. Embarrassing or what? I'm made up that they're performing ... that was a bonus I wasn't expecting! January 21, 200916 yr No. Taio released his last year :P Oh right,it's just that most of the singles were originally relesead in 2007 so though the album might have been originally been aswell.
January 21, 200916 yr Oh right,it's just that most of the singles were originally relesead in 2007 so though the album might have been originally been aswell.I see what ya mean, but it wasn't until he found success with 'Come on Girl' that he decided to release it :D Thank God he did. Such an under rated album!
January 21, 200916 yr No Leona (other than best single), Rihanna, Chris Brown or Taio Cruz :arrr: :( I totally agree. I can't believe Leona and Rihanna have been snubbed again. This is why i prefer the Grammys to the BRITs. How can Santogold be nominated and Rihanna can't be for BIFA and Beth Rowley (who?) instead of LL for BBFA. The BRITs have sunk to new lows. BTW, Beyonce FTW
January 21, 200916 yr I don't mean to be funny, but if you read the rest of the topic you'd realise why acts like Leona, Chris Brown and Rihanna weren't nominated. It does help to actually read the last few topics of a page sometimes. I am actually suprised Taio Cruz didn't get nominated for Best British Male though.
January 22, 200916 yr RUBBISH as to be expected. Does anybody take the Brits seriously anymore? I know they need variety in their categories...but Beck, YET again? He and Radiohead are the new Annie Lennox. They could put out a blank CD and bag a nomination. I've never been a huge fan of urban, but it's also totally ridiculous that Ne*Yo was ignored, he's been THE influence on the urban market this year, as Timbaland was the year before. Even if they didn't want to overload the category with urban, Ne*Yo had a much better year than Jay-Z with his flop Glastonbury performance and lack of any chart success. Taio Cruz should be feeling slightly aggreived aswell. Other crimes... An insipid charity cover of a generic ballad being put forward for Best Single? It's not like they can even use the "it was a best seller" excuse, because clearly they didn't follow that rule when placing "Heartbeat" and "Better In Time" ahead of "That's Not My Name". Scouting For Girls...a TOTAL abomination.
January 22, 200916 yr It's a good point about Taio Cruz - I don't like him and I kinda like Ian Brown but there's no doubt who was the most active and deserving of a nomination out of the two of them. I think Ian Brown's the Brit panel's new Annie Lennox or Kate Bush - they used to get nominated every year in best female despite singing nowhere but in the shower for the full previous 12 months.

It's not like they can even use the "it was a best seller" excuse, because clearly they didn't follow that rule when placing "Heartbeat" and "Better In Time" ahead of "That's Not My Name". Scouting For Girls...a TOTAL abomination. The best single is voted by commercial radio listeners. As a result the nomination list made through a mixture of sales and commercial airplay so flop radio favourites will always be in there...
January 22, 200916 yr Here's the 30 best-selling UK singles of last year - those BRIT nominated are asterisked: *1 Alexandra Burke Hallelujah 887935 *2 X Factor Finalists Hero 751245 *3 Duffy Mercy 535645 *4 Estelle feat Kanye West American Boy 458500 *5 Dizzee Rascal Dance Wiv Me 386820 6 Leona Lewis Run 362370 *7 Girls Aloud The Promise 349450 8 Ting Tings That's Not My Name 300000 *9 Coldplay Viva La Vida 295815 *10 Adele Chasing Pavements 284000 ------------- 11 H Two O feat Platnum What's It gonna Be? 260000 12 Duffy Warwick Avenue 252915 13 Wiley Wearing My Rolex 240750 *14 Leona Lewis Better in Time/Footprints In The Sand 237500 15 Guru Josh Project Infinity 2008 224115 16 Take That Rule The World 215075 17 Alesha Dixon The Boy Does Nothing 208345 18 Take That Greatest Day 205930 19 Utah Saints Something Good 174000 20 Mark Ronson feat Amy Winehouse Valerie 166000 21 David Jordan Sun Goes Down 165000 22 Ting Tings Shut Up And Let Me Go 163000 23 Sugababes Girls 154840 24 Ironik Stay With Me 154500 25 Girls Aloud Can't Speak French 153000 26 Saturdays Up 151700 27 Taio Cruz Come One Girl 151000 28 Scouting for Girls Elvis Ain't Dead 148000 29 Leona Lewis Bleeding Love 144000 *30 Scouting for Girls Heartbeat 143500 so Leona and the Ting Tings missed out with their top 10 songs, but they swapped in another Leona song just outside the top 10 which had big longevity on airplay so maybe you could see why they did that. The Ting Tings snub seems bizarre though.
January 22, 200916 yr Ting Tings got very little commercial airplay, it'd be interesting to see it's airplay chart run actually, especially compared to some of the songs below it. I imagine it would've been 'Warwick Avenue' to replace it, but they already had a Duffy song in there...
January 22, 200916 yr I assumed Duffy was nixed as Mercy was already there. And I can't remember Wiley or HtwoO making the Radio 2 playlist ...

BTW, Beyonce FTW Just shows Leona cant win, she is booed at the MOBOS cause she is in the USA doing a huge gig in New York, the national press want the success, but she gets more credit in the UK snubbed totally last year winning wise and again this year! Brits nomminations are always too pretentious anyway!

Brits nomminations are always too pretentious anyway! I know. I thought the British music industry would give her at least one BRIT award for representing our country well in the US. Maybe the panel pick nominations by seeing who worked the hardest in the industry.
January 22, 200916 yr I know. I thought the British music industry would give her at least one BRIT award for representing our country well in the US. Maybe the panel pick nominations by seeing who worked the hardest in the industry. I don't know why she wasn't nominated in Best British Female category. As Richie said earlier ... Kate Bush and Annie Lennox seemed to be nominated year-after-year despite lack of activity in the preceding 12 months. Norma

Norma Well, i've just got to make sure she wins Best British Single then :P but i very much doubt it :( I think Duffy or Coldplay will win it. I'm also pleasantly shocked that TT didn't get nominated in that category after theyve stolen the award two years in a row

I'm also pleasantly shocked that TT didn't get nominated in that category after theyve stolen the award two years in a row Oh sod off with the 'Take That 'stole ...' just because Leona didn't win anything last year. Take That stole nothing! I agree ... Shine was a bit questionable ... but Patience definitely deserved its win! You were one of those laughing in agreement at that 'ima' post ... so I take everything you say with a pinch of salt - you obviously hate Take That ... and that is your want ... it is up to you. I get the impression though ... that you'd even think Leona Lewis is better than the Beatles - so your opinion don't really mean jack-$h!t to me! Sorry if that offends but I really don't care what you think! Norma

January 22, 200916 yr The rules have been changed since then I believe. Well rules can be changed. As I said before ... I think last year it was too soon for her to win anything (and to be honest ... being nominated in four categories was just plain ridiculous). But it does seem to be that in the year she has well and truly proved herself ... she is going to be denied a deserved win. Better In Time (and I actually like this a lot more than Bleeding Love) is too distant a memory for her to win Best Single ... I just hope Hallelujah doesn't win ... as it would be like rubbing salt into the wounds. Having said that ... Leona is such a decent person ... I doubt she'd even see it like this. Norma
