January 29, 200916 yr Ermmm, didn't GA come from a massive reality show watched by millions Well that in itself is no guarantee of long-lasting success is it.....? Look what happened to Hear'say, Darius, Gareth Gates and Michelle McManus.....  GA were lucky enough to get good, knowledgable people behind them to write their material and manage (wipe their arses?, okay, being sarcastic ) them..... As Richard (thisispop) has argued on another thread.... Without that, they'd've gone tits up long ago, cos they sure can't do it for themselves..... Unlike someone like Lady GaGa, who is clearly her own creation, and has created her own myth.....
January 29, 200916 yr Depeche Mode would probably have given LG one of their better songs......
January 29, 200916 yr I do see what you're saying Grim. But up until now, GA have never really been album selling artists. ;) They have been more of a singles act (A chart act like you said) but I disagree about the Top 3 thing. Since when has having 3 Top 10 single's been a "Flop"? Especially since, like I said in my original post they are improving with every release. Not to mention the fact they have outsold Sugababes most recent efforts. I personally think they have/are doing very well for a new girl band, and I am starting to doubt they will be a "Flash in the pan" sorta group and will actually prove alot of us wrong. With all of that, said I can see where you're coming from with the "Charidee Ploy" thing, even if I do sorta disagree... :P Oh and the girls are actually writing some (If not most) of the 2nd album. Una and Mollie are exceptionally talented and do more than I think you think they do! :P Edited January 29, 200916 yr by Hand-Jon
January 29, 200916 yr I can't say I'm excited about this, it is one of Depeche Mode's poorer songs and I can't see The Saturdays making a killer pop track out of it. Most of all, I was really looking forward to the release of 'Work'. I still hope that goes ahead.
January 29, 200916 yr If Endab...zzz can manage 300k in their album and sales improving singles (3 Top 40s), then is that a flop? No.
January 29, 200916 yr Im in two minds about this. On a posistive note it will likely be their first #1 and it will get them noticed even more than they are now, on a negitive the song could be awful (ala Walk This Way). Judgement shall be reserved until i hear it i guess.
January 29, 200916 yr So gutted. The Sats? Meh... I wanted GA and TT :( The song is better be good or I will hate them even more.
January 29, 200916 yr Not to mention the fact they have outsold Sugababes most recent efforts. It's been like the hugest flop of the year, there's nothing mind blowing about the Sats doing better than a huge flop... :S And the SB material was better than The Sats material anyway, "Issues" being one of the WORST single of the millenium.

Worse than WTW? Thought not :/ ....
January 29, 200916 yr Worse than WTW? Thought not :/ .... If you can read properly, I said "one of the worst". ;)
January 29, 200916 yr If you can read properly, I said "one of the worst". ;) I know what you said. But, I was just pointing out that you want GA to do it so badly, why :/ After WTW they should just stick to original material full stop!
January 29, 200916 yr Whether it's more their management or not, it still strikes me as being cynical and designed to promote The Saturdays (who have been kind of failing up til now, let's face it...) more than the cause itself..... Not really? They just got their highest peaking single and their album made the top ten for the first time last week. If anything they've been getting more successful lately. argee with aaron.... like it or not scott, the saturdays ARE gaining in support. now whilst its true that i hated the initial hype, and their first release was poor... 'up' is a bloody good pop singe, it has been in the top 40 for 18 weeks.... now i didnt expect that, 'issues' is another good track that so far is their highest chart position. you should have seen the pub on monday night when 'up' wasplayed... man, its POPULAR, a grower, as it has an annoyingly infectious hook.. anyway, this topic supposed to be about comic relief song and the sats ... 'just cant get enough' was awful... in fact that track put me off dm as they seemed just like another teen pop group, like modern romance , kajagoogoo, etc... they imho FAILED to follow through like duran duran did. it was only after a few years of improving and deepening did they gain credibility...
January 29, 200916 yr I know what you said. But, I was just pointing out that you want GA to do it so badly, why :/ After WTW they should just stick to original material full stop! Well, the TT & GA idea was I think a brillant idea. It could have lead to something amazing. And I must confess I still enjoy listening to WTW in my car or in pubs, it's got a fun vibe that I like ^_^
January 29, 200916 yr And the SB material was better than The Sats material anyway, not recently it aint.... the sugababes have lost it... they went down a peg when mutya left.
January 29, 200916 yr Well, the TT & GA idea was I think a brillant idea. It could have lead to something amazing. And I must confess I still enjoy listening to WTW in my car or in pubs, it's got a fun vibe that I like ^_^ It was a good idea in the sense that both acts are massive and the single could've been huge yeah...But it could've of been bloody awful and imo it would've been a very cheesy duet ;) Very glad it's not happening tbh!
January 29, 200916 yr If Endab...zzz can manage 300k in their album and sales improving singles (3 Top 40s), then is that a flop? No. :lol:Did anyone in this thread say they were flops?? No. So how has that got to do with the Sats?? I personally think having a Hit is having a song that does better than their previous efforts. i.e: The Sats debut went in at 8, then Up and Issues have gotten better peaks for them at 5 and 4 Respectively. So I don't see how they're a Flop. Also the album has peaked at Number 9, yes a bit later than previously thought, but that's what singles should do, they should be selling the album, which is exactly what 'Up' and 'Issues' did. So by my theory of a hit, then they are doing brilliantly. It's been like the hugest flop of the year, there's nothing mind blowing about the Sats doing better than a huge flop... :S And the SB material was better than The Sats material anyway, "Issues" being one of the WORST single of the millenium. But I thought Sugababes were an established Girl Group? So a NEW girl Group out selling a well established Girl Group's most recent efforts, isn't very good at all is it? No matter the sales... No, I'm NOT saying they're that established just yet, but on Paper to the public, "The Saturdays Outsell Sugababes" sounds like 'Wow' And the second bit of your comment is YOUR own opinion. Have you actually heard The Saturday's album? Or are you just basing it on the three singles? Coz from your statement (I maybe wrong but this is what I think) I get the impression that you haven't actually listened to The Saturday's album. And you're probably getting on your high horse because you probably think The Sats (Although not established THAT Well just yet) will be a big threat to your beloved GA. You're probably just hating on the fact that 'Issues' is selling more than 'The Loving Kind', so it's hardly surprising you PERSONALLY think 'Issues' is the worst single of the millenium! Edited January 29, 200916 yr by Hand-Jon
January 29, 200916 yr It's been like the hugest flop of the year, there's nothing mind blowing about the Sats doing better than a huge flop... :S That belongs to Mariah easily LOL.
January 29, 200916 yr That belongs to Mariah easily LOL. I'd have thought Pussycat Dolls really... Doll Domination has been a disaster of epic proportions.
