March 22, 200916 yr A tragedy for her boys On a personal level least she no longer suffering I hope though there will not be the type of Diana style mourning for her though :manson:
March 22, 200916 yr tbh im rather relieved its all over! now back to normality.... Same here While I feel sorry for the sons being without a mum at least we won't have to read about her any more once the media fuss about her death dies down
March 22, 200916 yr hmmmmmm I don't know if this is out of place but part of me thinks she might have died yesterday or the day before but Clifford engineer the whole thing so that she "died" on mothers day" to increase the national mourning and the whole poignantcy of the whole thing
March 22, 200916 yr ^ Exactly what I was thinking, ugh. RIP though =[, I actually felt quite SAD when my Mum was saying about it. I'VE NEVER FELT THAT EMOTION, f***ing disgrace.
March 22, 200916 yr I've just been watching the news for almost an hour. Man how ironic was it to have her die on mothers day. My prayers and love goes out to her family. A big R.I.P. Jade i'll never forget you. I always liked you no matter what :D
March 22, 200916 yr RIP. I've updated the opening post's title to reflect her death at 03:14am on Mother's Day. Reality TV star Jade Goody dies BBC News 09:37 GMT, Sunday, 22 March 2009 Reality TV star Jade Goody has died at the age of 27, her spokesman Max Clifford has confirmed. She died at home with her family in Upshire, Essex, overnight on Saturday after a high-profile battle with cervical cancer. Goody was diagnosed with the disease in 2008 but it spread to her liver, groin and bowel and she was told it was terminal in February. Goody shot to fame after being a contestant in the third series of Big Brother in 2002 and was taking part in a version of the show in India when she was told of her illness. She had been treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London but wanted "to spend all the time she had got left" with new husband Jack Tweed and sons, Bobby, five, and Freddy, four. The star died at home at 0314 GMT on Mother's Day, with Ms Budden and Tweed at her side. Her body was taken out of her home shortly before 0800 GMT. Speaking outside the home, Ms Budden said: "Family and friends would like privacy at last." Mourners started arriving at the house to pay tribute to Goody within minutes of the news breaking. They left floral tributes at the gates of her home. The star had been christened in a 20-minute ceremony at the Royal Marsden on 7 March while in a wheelchair and was assisted by nurses during the service. Media interest Goody's illness had featured in the media on a daily basis over recent weeks. She married partner Jack Tweed on 21 February at Down Hall Country House Hotel in Essex. OK! magazine paid a reported £700,000 to cover the event. Goody stipulated that the entire amount should be passed on to her sons. The wedding was also filmed as part of a documentary series following the star and was screened on digital channel Living. Goody, originally from Bermondsey, south London, was initially famous for showing poor general knowledge on Big Brother. She was later accused of being racist towards Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty during a celebrity version of the show. However, public opinion softened when the star became ill. She was open about wanting to exploit media interest in her battle with cancer to raise public awareness of the disease and prevent other women from suffering her fate. Mr Clifford said: "I think she's going to be remembered as a young girl who has, and who will, save an awful lot of lives. "She was a very, very brave girl and she faced her death in the way she faced her whole life - full on, with a lot of courage." Cancer Research UK chief executive Harpal Kumar said: "Her brave battle with an aggressive form of cervical cancer has received widespread public attention and encouraged thousands of women to seek advice on how to prevent the disease. "She has done a great public service by raising awareness of the importance of screening during her last few months of life." 'Celebration of life' Phil Gould, associate editor of OK magazine, said: "Most women that I know who are in their 20s have now gone for smear tests or are trying to get smear tests because of what's happened to Jade." Even in death the cameras will remain firmly fixed on Goody as preparations are made for her funeral. Before she died she told those around her she wanted the service to be a "celebration" of her life. "She wants it to be a big celebration because it's her final farewell to everybody," Mr Clifford said. "She's the world's first reality television star. It will be a very Jade Goody event - exactly the way she wants it." "She sat down and explained that Mummy was going to heaven and that heaven is where people who are ill go to get better," he said. "She said when they look in the sky and see a star, that's Mummy looking down." He added that he hoped Goody's family would be left in peace to grieve. Tweed, 21, is awaiting sentence after he was found guilty of attacking a taxi driver and threatening to stab him after leaving a club in Essex last year. He was jailed for 18 months last September after assaulting a teenager with a golf club.
March 22, 200916 yr :( RIP Jade. Such a shame for her to die today of all days, while i'm not her biggest fan this is a tragic loss and such a shame. Noone should die this young Edited March 22, 200916 yr by James.
March 22, 200916 yr R.I.P Jade. I wasn't a fan but whether you like it or not she was loved by some and will be missed sorely. Terribly tragic on Mothers Day for the boys :(
March 22, 200916 yr R.I.P Jade :( I know several people have said this already, but it's even more of a shame that it happened on Mother's Day. I'm not usually that much of an emotional person, but I really am so sad about this whole thing, moreso than when Heath Ledger died. I think the fact that everyone already knew it was going to happen sooner rather than later actually makes it worse somehow :(
March 22, 200916 yr It's just awful, 27 is no age at all for this to happen to someone, and I feel so awful for her children and family. R.I.P. Jade.
March 22, 200916 yr It's the NotW reporting but I do hope there is truth to this Big Brother producers have vowed to pay tribute to Jade Goody when the show returns for its tenth series this summer, a report claims. Goody, who died following a battle with cancer today, became an overnight star after appearing on the Channel 4 reality show in 2002. An insider told the News Of The World: "Jade was Big Brother. She completely embodied the show. "This series is a milestone for the show, reaching the decade, so it will be made in tribute to Jade. The series is dedicated to her." The programme's host Davina McCall is expected to speak about her memories of Goody in the live launch episode. A tribute video of the star's best moments on the show is also likely to feature. The Big Brother source added: "We have all looked on in horror at what was happening to [Jade]after she became ill. Our biggest star, our only real star, faded in front of our eyes. "We cannot deny Jade's importance to Big Brother and we definitely can't deny how much she meant to our viewers. They genuinely loved her and so did we." Goody was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in August last year. The disease later spread to her liver, bowel and groin.
March 22, 200916 yr ^ Exactly what I was thinking, ugh. RIP though =[, I actually felt quite SAD when my Mum was saying about it. I'VE NEVER FELT THAT EMOTION, f***ing disgrace. Yeah I am just so cynical about the whole thing, maybe its because Max Clifford is involved I dunno but anything involving Clifford is suspect I have read several forums and media tributes today and so much mention is made everywhere and even on here about the mothers day effect and yeah if her death was announced yesterday it would not have the same effect as dying on mothers day so either it is a freaky twist of fate or Clifford has something to do with this, a large part of me thinks the latter
