Love! Pop! 4 Weeks The Veronicas Hook Me Up 1 Week Commentary No change this week then as Kelly Clarkson grabs a second week at #1 with the fabulous My Life Would Suck Without You. VV Brown also stays put at #2 with the delightful Leave!, this arrangement for the top 2 should stay the same for the next few weeks I should imagine since it will take quite a song to knock either of these off their perches. Kelly should grab another 2 weeks or so at the top before VV takes over. Completing what is in my opinion one of the best top 3s Ive ever had is the BJSC winner Agnes Carlsson with Release Me, it seems I was wrong last week when I claimed shed reached her peak at #4. And with news of Agnes coming to the UK with On & On, hopefully Release Me shall get a release aswell. This weeks highest new entry is next up, its Amy Studt with the tantalising Nice Boys, Id never though much of Amy before however this week I divulged back into her back catalogue and rediscovered the brilliant Misfit and Under The Thumb, and also her cheesy but good but slightly good cover of Sheryl Crows All I Wanna Do. Anyway, im not sure if itll reach #1 with fierce competition for Kelly and VV but hopefully it can reach #2 somewhere between the two heavyweights. At #5 theres a rather surprising rise of nine places for Tinchy Stryder and Taio Cruz with Take Me Back, like I said last week I only discovered its brilliance last week and this week it reaches new heights. Im confident it wont climb any higher though. Two weeks after her appearance at the top of the chart Pink this weeks slides three to No.6, whilst other former number #1s Girls Aloud and The Saturdays remain in the top 10. Jessica Mauboy slides to #7, having peaked at #5 last week, with news of Agnes coming to the UK, im hopeful Jessica will follow suit especially after Burn topped the Australian Chart. Finishing off the top 10 is Shontelle who rises one place from #10 to #9, it still has a week or so to go I think doesnt it but I doubt a top 5 position is reachable to be honest. The second highest new entry comes at #11 for The Veronicas with the fantastic Untouched another international act heading for the UK soon and unlike Agnes and Elin, are likely to be huge. Thought if that success can continue with follow up singles Hook Me Up and my personal favourite This Love remains to be seen. Speaking of The Veronicas, their album Hook Me Up, lands this week at #1 of the album chart knocking off Agnes after four weeks with Dance! Love! Pop! The album is fantastic and why I didnt listen to it earlier I dont know, now I need to get round to their debut. Back to the singles and this week Lily Allen and Jordin Sparks both lose their places in the top 10, Jordin slips three to #12 whilst Lily falls down a rather large 8 places to #16 with The Fear. Going in the other direction though are Katy Perry and Pink who both climb this week, Katy climbs two places to #14 with Thinking Of You and should arrive in the top 10 next week. Pink who is unlikely to be given a physical release until April climbs to #12 this week. Alesha Dixon, Beyonce, Ava Leigh, Leona Lewis and Jennifer Hudson complete the top 20. Beyonce and Jennifer are likely to start climbing again in the coming weeks. Elin Lanto who has a UK release coming in the next few months slides to #21 this week whilst Kat De Luna also slides this week to #22 with Unstoppable, both should also start makes big waves un the coming weeks. Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) reaches a new peak of #23 for Beyonce, the song is such a grower its unbelievable, I doubt it will climb any higher though. One of last weeks new entries September, climbs to #24 this week with the brilliant Cant Get Over, a songs that seems to improve on each listen and I think im starting to prefer it to Cry For You tbh. Lower down there are other new entries from Take Thats Up All Night which has already beaten the peak of Greatest Day, a surprise new entry from The All American Rejects with Gives You Hell, this years UK Eurovision entry Jade Ewen with My Time, Pussycat Dolls with Watcha Think About That and a late entry from Kid Cunni with Day N Nite. February 8, 200916 yr Author Ugh at VV being held off the top by that rubbish. :( Hopefully it will become a #01 for you soon? In a few weeks time it should be #1 assuming i dont overplay it. Though there is the Comic Relief Saturdays single so who knows.
