I don't see my entry as overly cheap. :o I mean definitely my most cheap since I Kissed a Girl, but I mean it's a genre that's been rather unrepresented in the contest.

I don't think Rihanna will get far at all. Not the greatest song and the fact that the media are whoring her atm just makes her seem annoyingly cheap. The whole definition of what is and isn't cheap is definitely getting blurred with this contest though. Kelly SHOULD be cheap but the song leaked yesterday and is still mostly unheard, so really she's more cheap than the song itself. Taylor is too cheap for me, lol. Is mine cheap? I have no idea. I don't even know if cheap is such a bad thing. :heehee:

it will certainly be interesting to see how it all pans out in the voting...there are too many cheap songs now for them all to do well and some of them are bound to miss the final like you say

I don't see how a song that's been out for 24 hours is seen as cheap, yet a song by an unheard of artist that's been out for years isn't?

Already Gone isn't cheap, it's fresh and if anything it's Kelly that's giving us the cheap label.

Though, like JonJo said in Scherzland's thread, it's a SONG contest, not an artist/country contest.

Save You isn't one of my faves on the Kelly Clarkson album to be honest, it pales in comparison to Already Gone :o I haven't listened to a lot of the unknown songs yet, I can't wait to hear them

 

I do have one that I didn't know before that I am currently loving though :heart: a lot of the BJSCXIV entries are already so old to me that they are going down my chart this week

Personally I would not call St Etienne (with a single that got no airplay & failed to reach the Top 40) nor Amy Studt (who's last single made UK#227 from an album still physically unreleased cheap).

 

However if say 6 or 7 of the remaining 11 songs reached the top 10 in the BJSC XIV then Nonsuch will seriously consider withdrawing from future contests as I personally feel it goes against the spirit of finding new or obscure music by relatively unknown artists to listen to.

if I'd have known the competition would be quite as cheap as this, I would have almost certainly held back and confirmed We Are The People by Empire Of The Sun, which is their next single and already has a video but is oh so fantastic :wub: if only I'd waited a day :drama:...still I have everything crossed for Uh Huh Her :wub:
