Many a iTunes No1 has failed to top the singles chart… ;)

Not when they hit #1 on MONDAY lol.

If she holds until midnight Saturday (which she will) she will obviously be #1 officially.

Well done Kelly, I think I prefer Taylor's song but both are very good imo. ^_^ Looks like Kelly will take back her record that Jordin beat for most successful American Idol star single. :(

Kelly has always been the most successful American Idol?

Oh give it up now! KoL are unlikely to regain on her and Taylor is the only real competition now and based on the leapfrogging that just happened, it doesn't look like she'll fight back. Kelly has essentially got it in the bag now, she should stay at the top for the rest of the week now.

Oops I meant UK single, I think "No Air" sold more than any of Kelly's have and peaked higher.

Oh kk, im not too sure on that one, but i will check it

Fabulous. If anyone asks, I'll tell them she's now number 1.

:kink:

:puke: at Taylor Swift, poor and bland and unbearable MOR c**p

But wow at Kelly, never expected number 1 but that is brilliant and totally unexpected

Fed up of Kings Of Leon, al;ready becoming my least favourite band of the year...so many good songs flopping due to records clogging up the chart that have been around for months on end......

Not in 2009. It won't when 95% of all single sales are downloads.

I don't think any of her singles have sold that much here because 2005/6 was when she was most successful and that was a weak sales period. I'd say "Since U Been Gone" will be remembered a lot longer than "No Air".

I was just saying this to Mikal. This week should see a nice clearout of 'Broken Strings', 'Crack a Bottle', 'The Omen' & 'Single Ladies' (Although CAB and TO haven't been in the Top 10 all that long, they will more than likely drop out this week) all to make way for 'Pokerface', 'Dead & Gone', 'MLWSWY' & 'Love Story' so it should be quite a fresh top 10 on Sunday! :cheer:

Wow...it has risen a lot faster than I was expecting. People must really be liking this song.

Her UK promo hasn't even started yet, so this is great news.

i think Kelly is still the more successful one, No Air sold 316,630 last year, i cant find anything on SUBGs sales but comparing the chart runs, i think Kelly is still the most successful AI contestant... But in 2005, CD sales werent as great as they were last year so like i said im just going on the length of the chart runs...

But I believe 'NA' has outsold 'SUBG' but that's because like you said, sales were MEGA low then!

Edited by Jonjo

plus NA spent 10 weeks in Top 10 compared to SUBG's 7.

'Since U Been Gone' has an epic chart run, but when you look at it and consider the low sales of that period it probably didn't sell a whole lot. Only 13 of those 37 weeks were spent in the top 40 compared to the 21 of 27 by "No Air".

Its worth mentioning that Kelly was #6 on the top 10 selling singles of that year with SUBG but again sales werent great

Chart mods? Help?

But KC sold her album by the bucketload that obviously would have lowered the single sales.

Its way bigger than No Air.

Not from where I'm looking. Where I usually look for sales, she's listed at #30 of 2005 on 139.6k and then #203 in 2006 on 32k. (of SUBG) Where did you get #6 from?

I remember SUBG staying in the chart for a while, but it probably didn't perform as well as it could have because it didn't receive that much airplay.
No Air may have sold more than any of Kelly's. [none of hers have passed 200k in total here]. But 'Breakaway' pisses all over Jordin's album sales :P
