I was actually gonna say Take That also I think Coldplay "X&Y" and "Viva la Vida" were quite hyped
Surely Chinese Democracy? 13 years in the making and a 'comeback' record from one of the 80s and early 90s biggest bands was always gonna garner a lot of hype.

Yeah definatly Guns N Roses album was mega-hyped even if it was a major dissapointment

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

Britney Spears - Blackout

Madonna - Hard Candy

They're the big ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Britney Spears Circus springs easily to mind. Will go away and think of some others.

Oh yeah! And the $h!t one she did before that!

Madonna - Confessions On a Dance Floor

Madonna - Hard Candy

Britney Spears - Blackout

Britney Spears - Circus

Leona Lewis - Spirit

Radiohead. Their last album seemed to be mentioned everywhere due to that 'pay what you like' thing they had going on. I can't stand them!! :nono:

Madonnas Confessions was hyped quite a bit too (and quite rightly so!!) :P although Hard Candy didn't seem to gather that much attention (and quite rightly so!!)

I wouldn't say U2's new one is overally hyped, I reckon most people don't even know they have a knew album out.

In recent memory...

Coldplay - X&Y

Mariah Carey - The Emancipation Of Mimi

Madonna - Confessions On A Dancefloor

Britney Spears - Blackout (I think it was much more anticipated than Circus...)

Kylie Minogue - X

Beyoncé Knowles - Dangerously In Love

Take That - Beautiful World

Whitney Houston - (Whatever her new album will be called...)

Eminem - (See above...)

i think take thats beautiful world and definitly chinese democracy by guns n roses,

u2 usuallt get big hype for new albums and even some record shops are opeing at 12 midnight thurday to sell the new upcoming album here in ireland

norma dont be such a bitter betty!!

  Maybe a little ... but seriously ... Blackout in particular was awful! In fact ... lets make no bones about it ... it was sh*te of the highest order. Circus has three fair-to-middlin songs the rest is filler (and not even quality Polyfilla ... more the budget 'own brand' B&Q range!)

I could understand some people saying Take That's The Circus was overhyped as it did get a hell of a lot of press coverage (but it also had some terrible reviews so you can't really say it was all positive) But not Beautiful World ... that is just people who truly dislike the band - apart from Pete above!!!!!! :arrr:

But now for the rest of my contenders:

errr ... no! Still can't think of anything as bad as Britney's. Maybe Madonna's Hard Candy!

Pete! I've just noticed your comment!  I've actually gone back now to liking BW better than The Circus ... I've discovered I only like six of the 13 songs on the new TT album. I dislike only one on the Beautiful World one.

I've noted quite a bit of Coldplay hate here. VLV wasn't as good as I thought it'd be but its a good album and I don't think it was particularly 'hyped'.

Actually MOST of the people I know, they don't know U2 are releasing a new album!

True - if it wasn't for wasting time here on Buzzjack instead of doing some housework - I wouldn't have known they were releasing a new album (apart from an advert that was on last night for the single). Whereas I must agree - all the albums mentioned in all the previous posts came with a fair bit of fanfayre!

I didn't mean this was hyped it's just because they are a big band and big bands usually get hyped albums. Sorry if I didn't make that clear
