February 24, 200916 yr 51k first-week isn't that poor, it just happens that it fell off very quickly. Abnormally so. It really was poor though, considering the hype that surrounded it and with it being the official Comic Relief single. It sold little more than double it's first week sale in total as well.
February 24, 200916 yr Nice to see a clearout in the top 10!! Shame there aren't more singles hitting the 40 though and frickin Madcon back in again? So pleased for Kelly. I am continuing my theory that she is the secret clone of P!nk albums wise. Barely successful debut records in the UK, massive selling follow ups [breakaway & Mizundastood], decentish next records which were considered flops [My December & Try This] and now her new one will be her 'I'm Not Dead' :heehee:
February 24, 200916 yr i hope the killers stay top 40 as spaceman is a brilliant song, plus even if it stays at number 39 it will be a new peak im a little happier now as i was mixed up take that isnt out on phyisical until next week i was sure it was out yesterday so top 20 with downloads im happy with Edited February 24, 200916 yr by Rule The World
February 24, 200916 yr i hope the killers stay top 40 as spaceman is a brilliant song, plus even if it stays at number 39 it will be a new peak im still hoping take that will be top 10 come sunday Slim chance Take That will be inside the top 10 on Sunday Pete! They may, just may, manage it the week after. Although the song has performed poorly peak-wise ... I think it'll stay in the top 75 for some time (obviously not more than RTW but certainly more than GD!) The album looks like its going up a few notches though! Norma
February 24, 200916 yr Tom Jones is on Islands In The Stream? x.x Never heard the song, but if Tom is on it, it auto-sucks. :P
February 24, 200916 yr i dont think any take that song will ever mange to beat weeks spent on chart that rule the world has had, rule the world is like the new chasing cars now, it would be such a shame for up all night no to go top 10 as its a brilliant catchy pop song
February 24, 200916 yr Author Kelly, Prodigy for No 1 Kelly Clarkson is set to end Lily Allen's four weeks at No 1 with My Life Would Suck Without You, 3,000 sales ahead of nearest rival Taylor Swift. Midweek sales show Clarkson is so far the only new entry in the Top 40. The Prodigy are likely to enter the album chart at No 1, with Invaders Must Die selling twice as many as Kings Of Leon at No 2. Lamb Of God and Joe Bonamassa are also new in the Top 20. from teletext
February 24, 200916 yr Their Brits performance is having a positive impact on Take That’s sales and latest single, Up All Night (Polydor), re-enters the top twenty this week. Seriously, Music Week need to research their facts. Take That didn't get anywhere near the top 20 on iTunes until after their Ant N Dec performance - they were still bobbing around the 40 mark prior to that. The BRITs had nothing to do with UAN's rise into the top 20. :(
February 24, 200916 yr "Midweek sales show Clarkson is so far the only new entry in the Top 40." Excitement!

The BRITs had nothing to do with UAN's rise into the top 20. :( I'd agree with you on that. The Brits did nothing for UAN as they didn't even perform it on the Brits. There was a marginal increase on iTunes for Greatest Day but that's all. I think the album did perhaps benefit a bit though, as although it fell to fifth in the year-so-far album chart - it had actually had much better sales than for the previous week. As you say ... it was Ant & Dec that helped UAN ... and as its the only promotion the song is going to have until after Comic Relief ... it is a welcome helping hand! Norma
February 24, 200916 yr "Midweek sales show Clarkson is so far the only new entry in the Top 40." Excitement! I guess after 7 of them last week, we're back to a lull this week. :( Although I'm pretty sure at least a couple more will enter the top 40 by Sunday.
February 24, 200916 yr Author I think we be losing Girls Aloud and the Up single from the Saturdays at the end of the week, Killers might get a lifeline with Spaceman. Katy Perry's TOY, might get a shoe in inside the top 40
February 24, 200916 yr I guess after 7 of them last week, we're back to a lull this week. :( Although I'm pretty sure at least a couple more will enter the top 40 by Sunday. It's hardly any more exciting but at least there are two re-entries as well to make up for it. Though "Beggin'" got old ages ago so I'd rather it dropped out again. Katy Perry's TOY, might get a shoe in inside the top 40 I should think so, she must be close at the moment and Ant & Dec will gain her some last minute sales. Edited February 24, 200916 yr by Aaron™
February 25, 200916 yr 1 new entry in the top40 is beyond ridiculous. But we have a few Re-entries, so it's not all bad
February 25, 200916 yr 1 new entry in the top40 is beyond ridiculous. Not really, the new ones now enter at the end of a week when they are released on download. The chart is quite active at the moment. Just look at the difference in the Top10 in the last week.
February 25, 200916 yr we've got a brand new top 2 and the top 10 has completely changed so i dont know why people are complaining. The only difference now is it doesnt actually matter when a song is released as album downloads alone should get popular songs into the top 40. Edited February 25, 200916 yr by mattyp
February 25, 200916 yr Great top two this week... hope it stays that way! :P The chart is refreshing now... The Fear was #1 for too long IMO.
