March 1, 200916 yr I do kind of understand, it says on the rules page (made by you) that the more unknown/commercial/cheap it is, the more chance it'll do well, but it seems the clocks are now turning and people like the cheapness... just look at Poundland. Edited March 1, 200916 yr by Spiral
March 1, 200916 yr Author This is insane. And a bit sad :( We all take part in a fictional contest and care about doing well in it, and post regularly on an internet forum. Sadness is no measurement :P

March 1, 200916 yr And Mart!n, you wanted to make a point against sending cheap songs by sending a cheap song? Some members thought it was rather cheap
March 1, 200916 yr This contest is getting more and more complicated! I may well have to pull out as its all getting a bit daft :( this is definately not the desired affect of an anti-cheap movement. To be honest i think we just need a good mix of cheap and well known entries, the reason this contest is of such good quality after all is because there are loads of songs by well-known artists who we all know and love. This of course means there are fewer new artists and songs to be discovered. However, as we have found in previous contests, loads of new artists can lower the overall quality of the contest... Although I really love introducing new artists such as Dame Maggie B to the people of BuzzJack I don't think others should completely diss others for enterring cheap songs either. I say we just ride the storm this time round, if you are really opposed to the extraordinarily cheap songs such as September and Taylor Swift then don't vote for them, this will put people off enterring them in future, but similarly we shouldn't be pointing out the 'cheapness' of other songs. I do blame myself for this a little bit too which is why i haven't posted edition 3 of The Hype as, in looking back at it, it was turning into a with hunt of cheap entries rather than lookign at the QUALITY of each song.
March 1, 200916 yr I wouldn't necessarily be against cheap entries. I just don't think it's fair, really.
March 1, 200916 yr Author Some members thought it was rather cheap  Yes, but you said yourself in that post that you sent the PSBs with the aim of trying to make a point against sending cheap entries? Am I confused or did you just write that wrong?

Is that a join or not then? :o The first item on the agenda of an ACM would of course be a definition of cheapness and to what extent it can be allowed...
March 1, 200916 yr Honestly, this thread makes me feel ill. I'm done arguing really, but the underlying goal of all this, to me, seems to be to get more votes. :/ Seriously. Like, 'hey, these entries are unoriginal, vote for mine.' Using yourself as an example for who TO vote for sorta exemplifies this Tyron. Whatever. It's threads like these that suck the fun out of the BJSC.
March 1, 200916 yr Or better still send your entries anonymously thru PMs, rather than making a topic of who you are going to send, than no one will know who sent what, that would make it more interesting.
March 1, 200916 yr Is that a join or not then? :o The first item on the agenda of an ACM would of course be a definition of cheapness and to what extent it can be allowed... I am 100% dedicated to trying to send unknown artists and songs to the BJSC on behalf od the Kingdom of Shadow BUT I don't think a movement like this is exactly correct either. It's a bit harsh to exclude some people if they don't know any new artists and I don't think you can define cheap either, it's relative to each individual as to whether they knwo the song or not.

Hmmm, well that was the part where I was joking when I said 'vote for mine', but that wasn't really the thrust of this tbh :P I apologise for making you feel this way, but really I'd find the BJSC a lot less entertaining if they all turned out filled up by the sort of entries that are drawing complaint...
March 1, 200916 yr From what I've figured out, this is the 2nd time? that it's become 'cheap'. Nothing wrong with the cheap entries, it gives the other songs a bit of competition
March 1, 200916 yr I'll sign just for the fun of it :P A vote for Marie Mai is a vote against Cheapness! Still this might be a bit much Edited March 1, 200916 yr by Sabrewulf238

It's threads like these that suck the fun and joy out of the BJSC. not at all from my perspective, I know Trash is doing a lot of Saint Etienne vote begging (in jest I should think)... I couldn't care if Uh Huh Her finish 1st or 28th, I didn't even think I would qualify, and for once I'm being completely honest when I say that. This from me at least is in no way begging people to vote for my song but is more of a 'please don't let the contest become overrun with songs a lot of us (granted not all of us) already know'. Pure and simply, I love BJSC for helping me to discover great new music, and if I'm not discovering great new music, I don't enjoy it as much. Once again, this is just my personal opinion on the matter, not a generalisation that I expect all the 46 other people to agree with as we all get different pleasures from the BJSC.
