Posted March 1, 200916 yr I'm seriously considering pulling out of BJSC for a while and my first contest hasn't even finished yet. There are too many idiots trying to dictate and this contest isn't fun at all (anymore) it's turning into a "political" contest, like Eurovision is today. What does everyone else think of this?
March 1, 200916 yr oh common its not about your song/artist lol wow can't believe some people takes this so seriously. I dont care, I still send whatever I want and whatever I like...no matter I get qualified or not...for your information I have sent Kardinal Offishall-Dangerous...just because I liked it at that time...and I came the last in semi
March 1, 200916 yr Author Which is what it should be like, but some people are trying to put a ban on it.
March 1, 200916 yr Hi Mark! The whole point of this thing is to show people what your tastes in music are like, obviously people are gonna say some bad things, but it's your choice. Also please stay! because you entered the same time as me
March 1, 200916 yr The thing I find worrying is the fact that a lot of you have missed Tyron's point completely.
March 1, 200916 yr No ones trying to ban anything, it's just a debate to see what everyone thinks on the matter ^_^ I'm sure that come results evening you'll see why people love this contest - the nerves you get as you discover what others think of your carefully selected song is great. For sure you may be disappointed (as I am tonight) if people decide they don't like your song but then that is completely forgotten when you enter a sogn which everyone loves! Emotions run high as people really love this contest but I think you should definately continue to participate becuase it's FUN which is why people care about it so much
March 1, 200916 yr If you look in the thread, they have a members list. That to me makes it look like those members are going to "boycott" the cheap entries by not voting them. That isn't fair... Obviously it might not mean that though, just as it looks to me.
March 1, 200916 yr Author It's just like Eurovision, everyone votes for Russia, Greece etc. because they border us. They're not voting for their favourite because it's "cheap" Edited March 1, 200916 yr by Liam-M

Obviously it might not mean that though, just as it looks to me. I'm sure that's not right but similarly you must let everybody chose the songs they want to vote for in whatever way they wish it's all about different people's perspectives on the contest. Some people will vote purely on the songs they love, regardless of whether it's a big hit song like Love Story or a complete unknown like Emmene Moi which is great, others may look at the effort they feel the others have gone to in discovering that music which is also fine, that's what makes the contest unpredictable. If everyone voted for songs on the same criteria then everyone would vote for the same songs and there would be no contest.
March 2, 200916 yr What the actual fuck. Don't be so pathetically stupid. you have been here barely 30seconds, try doing some research into the contests history before you spout a load of SHITE about the way it is organised and the Cheap vs Unknown debate which by the way has been raging since the contests formation. That last point applies to everyone who has joined along the way (i.e. since VII) This is hardly a new debate, more like its just been bounced back up to the surface recently. between I and III there was a debate on whether to ban well known artists. :)
March 2, 200916 yr What?! Several things: 1) As I've stated SEVERAL TIMES now, NOBODY is trying to put an actual BAN on anything. 2) This is definitely not 'political', and for the record neither is Eurovision, although that's a different argument altogether... 3) There is no forcing of people to not/vote for certain things. People are free to join up if they wish, if they join then that's what they were intending to do anyway, so it's not a matter of forcing people to not vote for things - merely organising an opposition to specifically rampant cheapness. There is no problem with cheapness per se! 4) This thread makes it very obvious that you have just joined the contest - fair enough, everyone is a newbie at some point. However, the debate over cheapness is, as others have said, one that has raged since the very beginning of the contest! Take a look at the first contest - there was controversy over Britney winning, but moreso at Nelly coming second with Maneater. This isn't a new thing, and it doesn't disrupt how fun the contest is! All the ACM are trying to do is ensure that future contests are just as fun as some of the ones we've had to date, as opposed to pre-Untouched (BJSC VI) contests which have become quite infamous for their cheapness by comparison to the current contests (with the exception of BJSC VIII which was fairly cheap, and is now also noted as being one of the less entertaining contests). 5) Leaving is really pointless. What would it achieve?
March 2, 200916 yr at first i thought i may have been overly cruel but rereading this i don't think so anymore

March 2, 200916 yr that was civil  I know, but strong language etc. isn't likely to come across as such :heehee:
March 2, 200916 yr ah i see. i did tone it down significantly  naive newbies can push my buttons easily. You should never jump in at the deep end
March 2, 200916 yr It's really sad that this has happened. Some people like cheap entries, others don't. I think it's ridiculous that people are saying it's being dictated, some people are just trying to turn something fun into something dramatic. It's just a song contest and some of the longer running members don't want it to return to the levels of known entries it was at, but it's peoples choice as to what they enter but some people just think people should consider finding unknown songs as that's the spirit of the BJSC :)
