I went to see Slumdog Millionaire (for the second time) alone this afternoon, and really enjoyed myself. This is only the second time I have ever been to see a film by myself, so am I curious if any of you do?

I felt a bit awkward at times, I admit (but overall I am used to being alone!) especially when the chap selling the tickets asked me if I was just buying 1 ticket

I did once to see Pretty Woman, and I was the only 1 watching it. I had the whole cinema to myself
No, i would hate going to the cinema by myself as its such a social/group place...

I usually just go with my bf as I CAN'T STAND GOING WITH FRIENDS. But then I'm not fond of going by myself as I'm such a worrywort, plus it'd mean buying food/tickets myself *cheapskates everywhere plzzz*.

Everyone's just too stupid and chatty and I get so stressed out when people talk/ask questions through films, even if it's one I don't particularly want to see like My Bloody Valentine lol.

i have about once before i think, tbh i would go on my own if it was a film i wanted to see but no one else did, i have a sort of movie-buddy type person who i tend to go with each time, so normally i dont need to go on my own.
I've never gone on my own. I've never even thought about it tbh, most of the people I would see films with have similar tastes to me anyway, so I'm lucky I suppose!
No, I wouldn't be able to get comfortable and enjoy the movie.
No i havent, but i wouldnt really have any problem with doing so. It would be rather strange though.
The only time I ever did was when I was about 12 to see The World Is Not Enough, my parents paid for me to go and watch it while they went shopping by themselves.
I've done it several times but the last time was real long time ago. Back in high school one semester I had on Tuesday and Thursday only morning lectures and several times when I was shopping or whatever near the cinemas after school I decided to just hop to some cheap matinee show. During that semester I probably saw on average two films a week in cinemas, most of the times with friends but on several occasions also by myself. After that semester I think I have been at the cinema alone twice, both times I had some serial tickets expiring that day (and had just one left) and was too stingy to throw them away and since all my friends had work/school I had to go alone (the last one being Gone in 60 Seconds and that torture has been the last film I have seen alone in the cinema).

I've only been to the cinema twice on my own. The first time I was in London visiting a friend and until he finished - whiled away the time in a cinema off Leicester Square watching Bob Roberts (fabulous film). The other was when I had a 'credit' ticket after the cinema reel showing Titanic broke half way through (the most exciting thing about the film) - I used my credit to go and watch The Ice Storm. I enjoyed the experience! I'll probably end up going to see the new Clint Eastwood film on my own as no-one will go with me!

Same

Once, accidentally.

I went to see Sweeney Todd with a friend, but went to the bathroom while she went into the cinema. When I got in, the trailers had started and it was pitch black, and I couldn't find her (she'd taken all my stuff in for me - phone etc...), so I just sat on my own. I actually really enjoyed it.

God, yeah.... Because I tend to go to the cinema quite often (what with having an Unlimited Card and all..), more often than not, I'm a solo cinema goer.... There's a lot of films that my g/f has no real interest in, so, I tend to go out to those during the day when she's working and I'm off work.... There's a LOT of films available to go see in London, and I've got 4 Cineworld cinemas within reasonable bus/tube distance...

I dont really think there's anything to be scared of in going to the cinema on your own, quite often it's actually pretty good when it's just you and the film....

I always go alone. I go to the first weekday screening, before 1pm, as it's cheapest. Often I'm the only one in there!

I don't bother with cinemas these days unless it is something so spectacular it needs the cinema to be appreciated like Terminator 2 otherwise I just wait for the axxo but times I have been to cinemas in my adult life 95% probably been on my own

Not because I am a loner but for 2 reasons

1) I am an action / gangster nut and I have never had a gf that likes those sort of movies

2) Going with someone or as a group means there is scope for talking and I despise talking in cinema with a passion

I woulld like to see cinemas have a thing whereby if someone speaks in a movie they get an electric shock like there are devices that send charges to barking dogs

I went once in London on my own - HUGE cinema, three of us in there, actually all on our own. It was a sad afternoon. I promised myself I'd never go alone again.

Its been 15 months since I have been to the cinema now :( And I LOVE the cinema.

You see, I'd actually LOVE that tbh.... It's like you're own private cinema almost, no noisy brats, no bloody chavs with their ringtones going off.... I really dont see what's "sad" about it..... For a cinephile like myself, it's heaven.....

^I love having the Cinema to myself and my mates but not when its just me alone... I dont like being in a pitch black closed off room all alone

I nearly had a fit when i went to the cinema with my mate and it was just us two and the screen (for some reason) had yet to come on and then the trailer for Friday the 13th came on and all i could hear was the creepy whisper/breathing that usually comes with the Friday films... I was like WTF GET ME THE HELL OUT OF THIS PLACE.

The noise i heard (kicks in around 1:15):
