Posted March 9, 200916 yr Original French Version: hdJN0ss7jA0 English Version (Embed was disabled): According to New Release Schedule, Kate Ryan's single "Ella Elle L'a" is set to be released in April. It was already released in Europe last year and it performed well. The single peaked at #2 in the Netherlands (#5 on another Dutch Single Chart) and Sweden. It was also a Top 10 hit in Belgium (Flanders), Norway and Germany. In the UK, it is currently #11 in the UK Upfront Club Charts. So, where will it chart? UPDATE: I have just found the English version of the song. Edited March 9, 200916 yr by buzz_person
March 9, 200916 yr It's not in English so I doubt it will do well... It should be a massive dance hit for the Belgian beauty. Just because it's in French & not in English is being bias. This song is a cover of the massive European pop hit from 1987 by French singer France Gall as a tribute to singer Ella Fitzgerald. I have already had this for 6 months on download. I have many tracks in my collection that are in French, German, Dutch and Spanish. If you look at charts throughout European countries you will find many songs in English. IMO I think the UK is very bias in this respect. How many UK or US acts careers would so big internationally if European countries didn't release English language tracks. The UK has become very bias musicwise, not just for language but genre also. Look at Country music, in the past there were many country hits, but over this last 10 years or so for some reason it's become virtually no-no with odd exceptions. March 9, 200916 yr I'm not biased, I'm speaking from opinion. I don't think that this will do well because the British public don't generally enjoy listening to music in a different language.
March 9, 200916 yr There is an English version being released peoples. Calm down, you only have to listen to a french chorus. not the end of the world. It deserves to do well. The French version is obv. the best thing since sliced bread
March 9, 200916 yr It's not in English so I doubt it will do well... It is in English though. The chorus is the only thing sung in French for the UK release ;) In a perfect world it would be a #1 smash, but I'm going to say Top 20. Maybe low top 10 :)

But also I think most of the blame lies with the media - when was the last time Radio 1 playlisted such a song?? If they don't play it then the majority of the public don't hear it. They are the middleman. :( Edited March 9, 200916 yr by Glyn
March 9, 200916 yr I can see Radio 1 pplaylisting it actually. Totally agree with you though Euro Music. How come people like Alizee and Tiziano Ferro are huge in Europe and unknown here? Because they don't sing in English... Anyway, Kate deserves top 5, but probably will get top 20... :nocheer:
March 9, 200916 yr I would have said Top 30, but there is no option for that, so Top 40 it is. Usually tracks like these don't peak high in the UK, shame I really like this track.
March 10, 200916 yr As it's not posted in the info above, it was #1 in Spain for many many weeks, ending 2nd in the 08 Spanish year-end chart, with a massive 5xPlat award (200k copies). http://www.promusicae.es/listasanuales/can...NUAL%202008.pdf I would say, unfortunately, top 20 in the UK. I would never ever understand English speaking people not hearing anything that's not sung in her language (I'm talking in a general basis, obviously a lot of you do hear it actually). March 10, 200916 yr I would never ever understand English speaking people not hearing anything that's not sung in her language (I'm talking in a general basis, obviously a lot of you do hear it actually). Me neither. But it's not the GBP that is biased, it's the UK record industry. People would listen to these artists if they got airplay and they got told they were cool.
