March 16, 200916 yr Anyone else think that Magners is the worst cider though? It's vile. Makes Strongbow taste delicious. Magners is pretty cr@p, but far from the worst out there..... But NOTHING could make me believe that Strongbow could ever taste delicious..... Not even drowning that sh!t in Blackcurrent cordial makes sodding Strongbow taste acceptable.....
March 16, 200916 yr Urgh. I wish it was at mine. It's more than £1 more. Anyone else think that Magners is the worst cider though? It's vile. Makes Strongbow taste delicious. :puke: I have to say that I'd drink far less if it were more expensive. When I can get pissed off my nut for a tenner by buying drinks beforehand I spend less than I would if I just went for a quiet drink...actually, i think it's magners not strongbow, i don't know if they serve strongbow. Oh come on, you cant compare a University student union bar to a normal pub.... As for where I drink - er, LONDON....  Just try going up to a bar in Camden or the West End and get two pints for a fiver.....  ahhh london. i can get two cocktails for a fiver at a bar just down the road.
March 16, 200916 yr ahhh london. Why do you think I dont go out binge drinking...? It's expensive to go out drinking in London, and I'm quite choosy about what I drink... See, so more expensive alcohol is a deterrant...... :P
March 16, 200916 yr This is just advice from the government's Chief Medical Officer. Advice which the government look like ignoring so this is probably a pointless argument.

See, so more expensive alcohol is a deterrant...... :P   I binge drink vodka and coke at home, then go out. Mainly because it's a million times cheaper :kink:

Not even drowning that sh!t in Blackcurrent cordial makes sodding Strongbow taste acceptable.....  Just thought I'd point out that Strongbow is one of my most favourite alcoholic drinks. :heehee: It's cheap and to me tastes nice. :P
March 16, 200916 yr LOLz. Do the government remember what happened within America during the 20's? I'm not saying that a similar thing will happen in the UK if this does happen, but raising price on drinks isn't going to stop people from drinking. Oh, and raising the price during these times, is quite literally, taking the p***. EXACTLY josh... all it would do is create a criminal market. VB  As for this proposal it is utterly insane, whoever dreamed it up should be put in a straight jacket in a padded cell Why should responsible and sensible drinkers be penalised because of chavs ? Get rid of 2 for 1 offers in pubs, get rid of happy hours and free drinks promotions, get rid of the all you can drink for £ x things, ban all those, they are what causes binge drinking and chav behaviour, making responsible drinkers pay double is one of the daftest things have ever heard EXACTLY craig.. I just wonder that, if this whole one unit of alcohol = 50p thing does actually take off, if it means that a 70cl bottle of Baileys (which has 12 units of alcohol) will actually come down in price from £12 to £6.....?  Wont work like that will it....?
March 19, 200916 yr :o Happy hour is godly. Especially in a country when it is expensive as for premixed drinks. it's like $15 for a pack of 4 smirnoff ice's. Bloody Queensland government taxes them all to hell. Most people around here drink TooHeys anyway, it escaped the tax rise and tends to be the subject of happy hour. it's the cheapest drink anyway :/ You are referring to the alcho-pops tax I assume? It wasn't a state law it was federal, and well good news is that it was defeated in the Senate today, so hopefully prices should return to normal soon. ^_^
March 19, 200916 yr It was a fed law? epic!! I never went into a offie when i was in NSW. I'd heard on the news it was likely to be defeated as there was no major proof it had actually worked. Cheep booze FTW :cheer:
March 19, 200916 yr Just thought I'd point out that Strongbow is one of my most favourite alcoholic drinks. :heehee: It's cheap and to me tastes nice. :P Yeah, you got that part right.... It IS cheap... In every sense of the word..... :P  Cheap and nasty, and I seriously doubt Strongbows has even seen a piece of fruit....
March 19, 200916 yr I love how this thread has turned into an Alcohol Review thread  Anyway, how in the world is alcohol CHEAP?!?!?! Sold individually at an Off Licence, maybe. But go to a Bar/Club/Pub then BLOODY HELL! No wonder we are all skint! And just echoing what Grimly was saying, last time i even passed by a pub in Camden, a pint was over £3 i believe?
March 19, 200916 yr Yeah, you got that part right.... It IS cheap... In every sense of the word..... :P  Cheap and nasty, and I seriously doubt Strongbows has even seen a piece of fruit.... Okay, so maybe it does look and taste like p***... haha :heehee: , but it's not as bad as White Lightening :/ I can never get my head around it? Is it even an alcoholic drink? ^^ Alcohol is really cheap where I live ^
March 21, 200916 yr No wonder we are all skint! And just echoing what Grimly was saying, last time i even passed by a pub in Camden, a pint was over £3 i believe? And the fact that we're all fukkin' skint (thanks to PM Broon....) is kind of what's driving us all to drink these days.....  You are indeed correct... My favourite drinking hole in Camden is indeed charging about £3.30 for their more decent beers and ciders.....
March 21, 200916 yr it's not as bad as White Lightening :/ I can never get my head around it? Is it even an alcoholic drink? White Lightening laughingly refers to itself as "cider".. Yeah, well, if it's ever seen an apple in its life, I'll be frankly gobsmacked..... This, along with these bloody "alcopops", is the sort of horrendous chemical cr@p that the young generation seems to blitz its brains with these days..... Frankly, it's this sort of sh!te that should be targeted if anything....

There nothing but flavoured water. I always stick to either Smirn Off Vodka, my Dad's whisky or just Carlsburg. (+ Strongbow, dam all those chemicals :o )
March 22, 200916 yr The Aussies tried, and just drove everyone to straight Vodka/Rum A bit of voddie and coke or rum/coke is still an improvement on alcopops.....
March 22, 200916 yr A bit of voddie and coke or rum/coke is still an improvement on alcopops..... Not much given that straight vodka is a hell of a lot stronger. Alcopops are soooooo weak it is unreal. Personally i just add more vodka to make 'em stronger so i can actually taste the booze.
March 31, 200916 yr with the licensing trade in freefall since this ridiculous government's draconian smoking ban.... why don't they just finish the job and close the pubs that remain? Surely it's kinder than deliberately running them to ground in this way. I always remember the day of the smoking ban in Wales, April 1st of all days, and the Welsh news... an interviewer talking to a Welsh MP who voted in favour of the ban... "Don't you think the government should be looking at maybe curbing alcohol.... something that causes more problems for more people than smoking".... The answer... "Well...first things first". Enough said, really.
