Posted March 17, 200916 yr Rihanna linked with 'Bodyguard' remake? Monday, March 16 2009, 18:30 GMT By Lara Martin, Entertainment Reporter Rihanna linked with 'Bodyguard' remake? Rex Features Rihanna has reportedly been linked with a proposed remake of romantic thriller The Bodyguard. According to the New York Daily News's Gatecrasher column, the singer has been approached to lead a "young and sexy" reboot of the 1992 film, which starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. An insider has claimed that the star held meetings in New York over the weekend to discuss future film projects, saying: "She’s been wanting to do movies for a while now." Other potential vehicles that have been proposed for the singer reportedly include the forthcoming Charlie's Angels sequel and an unnamed movie alongside Justin Timberlake. However, a representative for Rihanna has denied that any meetings with directors, producers or production companies have taken place. The Bodyguard featured Houston as a music star who hires Costner's former Secret Service agent to protect her from a stalker.
March 17, 200916 yr So its no longer just horror remakes now... However, i can see this being someone trying to cash in on the latest fiasco with Rihanna..
March 17, 200916 yr Oh for God's sake! Can't they at least give a decent time span between remakes ... like 50 years or so! The original one was sh/te! Norma
March 18, 200916 yr I love the original bodyguard film & the soundtrack was great too. This will just be a $h!te remake & Rihanna for the lead role, that is just ridiculous. If anyone should be given this role it should be Beyonce. A great singer with talent, just like Whitney back in her heyday -_-
March 19, 200916 yr Pointless... Utterly pointless, and another waste of about $100 million.... For a start, how would the music essentially be any different...? Rihanna and Beyonce are really just very poor, second division Whitneys anyway, when one looks at Whitney at her peak as she was back then..... The Bodyguard was really no more than a standard, extremely predictable thriller which only really got any hype because of Whitney in the first place... Frankly, I thought it rather below average, and I hardly see a remake (especially when it's obvious that they're not gonna do anything different with it...) improving matters... In fact, seeing as how Rihanna is clearly not even in Whitney's league, I think it will be way below below average....
March 19, 200916 yr   If this was true I wonder what the producers were thinking that Rihanna could be a young Whitney?? I'd like to hear her attempt I will always love you.
March 21, 200916 yr Rihanna... replacing Whitney? LOL. My thoughts exactly.... Never liked Whitney, but come on, in a "Celebrity Deathmatch", Whitney would just fukkin' OWN Rihanna.....
