WTF has happened here? :(

There's just been a slight disagreement (understated?) over whether Eurovision NF songs being allowed to enter the contest. To summarise, Aaron is the new host of BJSC XV and all NF songs are banned until the issue has been discussed further.

I thought all NF songs were banned period?

I know when I went to enter Katie Price (LOL) a few months ago, I was told that I was'nt allowed to...

There was discussion about the rule being changed, previously it stood at only UK, Irish and Swedish NF songs being banned which is why Katie was, and still isn't, allowed.

calm has been restored

It's a lose-lose situation, yes. But i still don't see Bokia returning. So people who wanted ESC NF songs 'lost', as well as Boyan, who did fight for banning them. That seems rather odd, isn't it? Everyone lost.

And for that 'further discussions' - I don't think we'll get somewhere on that point until the next contest. So I'd agree to BAN ALL of them. I will survive, unlike others who can't discover new music by means of MF. :(

OK, I will follow Rich's advise not to get into argues/ESC NF discussions from now on. But that was what i think about it. :heehee:

:heehee: in the Eurovision forum we can discuss Eurovision, I'm the new co-mod don'tchaknow :w00t:

I think it's best left to a vote between XV and XVI (is there ever any time between? reservation threads for the next one start 10 minutes after the last one finished :heehee:)...if we get a 60/40 split of people not wanting NF songs in BJSC, then I would be satisfied and happy with that...but I do think it is the correct decision on Aaron's behalf to ban them all for this contest ^_^

Yes, I know that. I mean discussions about allowing ESC NF to BJSC in this forum :heehee: I will never leave ESC. :kink:

I think we could show-horn a couple of days in between the results of Xv and the confirmation threads of XVI so as to get a good healthy debate and democratic vote going ^_^

good idea Tom, it certainly requires a proper vote, rather than being swept under the table altogether ^_^ I have a couple of songs up my sleeve for XVI, one for either way which the popular vote goes

LOL Me either then. So i shouldn't send Caroline this time :kink:

Well as there's no way for it to be a win-win situation I think it's best to leave it as a lose-lose one. If someone felt so strongly about something that they left the contest that they started here then I think we should respect his feelings and not go through with these changes. (I know he had 'other reasons', but so did the rest of you who left and came back -_-) To be honest I think some people are more excited at the chance of moderating this forum rather than feeling bad that the person who allowed us to hear things like WYRMT etc. on a larger scale on here has gone.

Boyan may have taken a step back lately, but without him there would have been no BJSC here. It seems like Rich potentially leaving was this huge drama but Boyan going was a free moderator position. :/

I'm absolutely devestated that Boyan left and for me it was the biggest blow of them all, I love Boyan - he knows it too which is why I was mortified when I felt responsible for driving him out of the contest :snif:

He didn't leave because of the rule change, he left because of the nature of the rule change - it would be a tad subservient to completely deny progress for the sake of someone who hadn't been all that active a participant recently anyway, even if that were the reason for his leaving :P. Yes, he did bring this contest across, and we are obviously eternally grateful for him doing so, but I don't think he would have wanted a situation where we had to keep the rules identical to those of the original contest just for the sake of it. His key complaint was that there wasn't a discussion and vote about it...

And seeing as only one person (i.e., you :P) actually objected to the rule change itself rather than the nature of the change, I think it's very possible for it to be a win-win situation :P

I was responding to him with Boyan as he mentioned Boyan, I am aware he wasn't the only one ;)

But why is this rule change necessary? Why don't you host a Eurovision Rejects contest in the Eurovision forum instead of bringing it here? :/

We've gone without them all this time, people have sent alternate songs if they were really obsessed with these banned artists. We don't need them now. I think it's only the Eurovision obsessed that are driving this change, no one was really fussed before.

Well it looks like all Eurovision NF songs will be allowed in XVI after all. My opinion still stands, a bit fat 0 from me regardless of quality in the same way "Love Story" was boycotted, call it stupid but that's just my view.

Why don't we hold a cheap contest somewhere else on the site? Oh wait, it's called the Multichart :P Having a contest in the ESC forum is worth nothing - it plays the songs to people who already know them! Why can't we introduce people to the songs that we love that they wouldn't have heard anyway? You speak as if they need quarantining - the ESC's rejects do have a lot to offer the contest other than your generic Scandipop! Snalla Snalla, described as the new Money Note, Not Crazy After All, hardly generic fare, Tricky, not Scandipop despite its Norwegian origins - in fact, VERY 2009. Would you have objected so vehemently to Will You Remember Me Tomorrow or Release Me, both of which have become contest defining songs, just because they may have been considered for entry in a contest? It's about introduction to new music - what's the problem with doing this?! :/

agree and same from me

I have even better idea for Eurovision Contest...why we just dont make a contest choosing EU countries and send a songs from their NF...i dont know if my idea is understandable.
