I don't see what a reaction I made to a proposal I made over a year ago which is only remembered by a small sector of the current participants has to do with anything? Well, I wouldn't have a problem with such a rule - but last time it was proposed there was a massive disagreement with it, despite in practice nobody actually sending such tracks. People seem to be against most limitations here...which is why I'm quite surprised there's any controversy whatsoever over the unbanning of NF entries people wouldn't have heard anyway.

 

But anyway, as has been said, we should leave this discussion until after XV.

Well I just think, despite what you say, that it opens the contest up to having even more entries with an advantage. (I wont say cheap, of course "Love Story" and "Butterflies" are different situations) I feel that there are certainly enough people following a lot of the National Finals to give them a fair amount of "guaranteed points" and even if they didn't see the NFs, the fact that it's a Eurovision song means it's got big appeal to the Eurovision fans. Now, yes, you could say the same for "So What" etc. but you're generally against those sorts of entries anyway.

 

I think Eurovision and NFs generally have the same amount of hardcore fans. Loads more on Buzzjack watch Eurovision, but I expect the majority of us have forgotten most of the songs after a few weeks/months. So as I find the last three NFs being unbanned too major (and it's stupid just to ban three) I think all of them should be banned. :/

 

Limits are essentially impossible to place on these things :heehee: We have to hope that people self govern and take a look before they confirm, but every so often (about six months exactly I find! II, VIII, and XIV...) people just run out of ideas :lol:

Of course, I think you're putting slightly too much faith in people. There have been occurences where people have tried to enter past entries to this contest, you can't expect them to pay attention to songs as they're confirmed.

What about Mart!n and his 'joke' that he was gonna send "Heartbreak Me A Dancer"? or Jonie trying to send...I can't quite remember it was something like "Crying Blood" or "T-Shirt"? They were actually in those contests AND we had the thread LOL. Some people don't pay enough attention to what's in the previous contests, let alone the songs that have been confirmed before the deadline.

T-Shirt even made the final -_- i'm sure crying blood did as well

Yeah they both did and Mart!n was in the same semi final as the Sophie Ellis-Bextor. I don't expect people to remember every single entry by heart but you'd expect it to ring a bell. :lol:

I think everyone is against it en masse, it's just hard to say "you can send a cheap entry, so can you and you and you but WHOA if we get anymore that'll be too much." But I suppose that would be the same for any specific type of song. I'd love an R&B contest, but I can imagine everyone would be bored if it was ALL R&B as there would be little variety.
