March 25, 200916 yr It doesn't really work for me anyway, when I type in my streets name it comes up with a picture of the football field which is way on the over side of town..

March 26, 200916 yr I'm not privileged to live in an important enough place for the Google car  But yeah, storm in a teacup and all that. A mastermind criminal hardly needs to go on Google to plot their dastardly ways. And unless you have a huge billboard outside your house saying where you live, then it hardly tells you where people live.
March 28, 200916 yr I seriously think you're overreacting . It doesn't seem like a big invasion of privacy. Frankly, no-one will really care, especially if it's their job to counter terrorism and crime, they will come across random conversations every working day. Its almost as if you've got something to hide (not meaning to sound rude there or anything)

Its almost as if you've got something to hide (not meaning to sound rude there or anything) I respect your opinions Harve you have a lot of maturity for a lad your age but you are utterly wrong here mate, If you are against being snooped on, eavesdropped, spied upon you must have something to hide is an age old mantra that is quite tiresome We are already the most spied upon nation in the western hemisphere in the name of "terrorism" so it is the principle of the matter, I am just against an Orwellian Big Brother society which Britain is fast becoming, nowt about having anything to hide its about the right to live without being snooped upon by people who's business it is

March 29, 200916 yr ...but streetview ISNT spying on you, its a picture of your street, not a 'live' transmition that WOULD be unacceptable. i like it, its fun! Yeah you are right about that part but I think Harve meant stuff in general like anyone opposed to CCTV or speed cameras or email/social network/phone snooping must have something to hide
March 29, 200916 yr Yeah you are right about that part but I think Harve meant stuff in general like anyone opposed to CCTV or speed cameras or email/social network/phone snooping must have something to hide I'm not saying that anyone opposed to that has something to hide (ok, maybe the way i worded my post suggested that ), but i think it is quite paranoid to think that the people who snoop on your email and phone are people who will actually care about random conversations that they will hear everyday, because they won't because they're employed to do it and will come across it hundreds of times a day. I guess i can't really talk because as far as i know there aren't any CCTV, Street View or even any speed cameras near me, though there are a few temporary speed guns.
March 31, 200916 yr I'm not privileged to live in an important enough place for the Google car  Neither is Preston. Yet Scunthorpe is considered important. Hmm.
May 7, 200916 yr does this mean my house is on the internet somewhere? :o lynda. yes. it WILL be on aerial pics, whether or not its on streetview depends upon whether or not theyve surveyed your area.
May 7, 200916 yr ...but streetview ISNT spying on you, its a picture of your street, not a 'live' transmition that WOULD be unacceptable. i like it, its fun! Mate, I've been on this thing, you can actually zoom right up to someone's front door/front window on the street view function.... It troubles me tbh.... It does feel a bit like voyeurism....

Why is it viewed as "paranoia" to be concerned about the Govt/State/Corporations intruding into our daily lives...? It would be paranoia if there was no possibility of it happening and people were just exaggerating about the level of intrusion, but, the point is, that there IS a possibility of it happening and the level of intrusion isn't being exaggerated at all, and, oh look, ID cards are back on the Govt agenda.... Think about it, someday, in the near future it could indeed be possible for the Govt to hack into every computer that has a Webcam and put every single person with a webcam under secret surveillance.... If a single hacker can gain control of someone's computer remotely (as has happened), what's to stop the Govt from doing so someday...? We have no concrete constitution or bill of rights to protect our rights and our privacy...
May 7, 200916 yr Mate, I've been on this thing, you can actually zoom right up to someone's front door/front window on the street view function.... It troubles me tbh.... It does feel a bit like voyeurism.... ....... and you cant see anything you cant from walking down that street! i use it to see new customers houses so i know where im going... its handy.. though tbh alot of the images are poor, shadows and silhouettes is all you can see on some.
May 7, 200916 yr I love Street View - it's fun, intersting and educational - who ever doesn't like it can join the rest of the uptight bast*rds this world is (unfortunately) full of! I don't think the picture of the kids should be removed, but it should definately be cencored!
May 8, 200916 yr ....... and you cant see anything you cant from walking down that street! i use it to see new customers houses so i know where im going... its handy.. though tbh alot of the images are poor, shadows and silhouettes is all you can see on some. You wouldn't stand outside somebody's house and just stare at it though, would you mate, or try and peer through the window....? You'd be arrested... And if you're concerned about knowing where you're going, get a blooming Sat Nav for your van you cheapskate..... :P
May 8, 200916 yr Like, you can see landmarks etc. Yeah, fine, do it for landmarks, hotels, pubs, cinemas, shops, etc, etc.... just NOT for people's private residences....... And dont call people with legit concerns "uptight b'astards" mate... If you saw somebody coming up to your house and just snapping away with a camera, I think you'd certainly have something to say about it..... If they'd left this just as aerial shots, then I wouldn't have a problem tbh....
