Posted March 24, 200916 yr Apparently will be the 2nd single. I'd say its a good choice, although i'm on the fence regarding the song. Should give them one of their biggest hits though cIWRYwCGEF4
March 24, 200916 yr Author err whats it doing there anyway? Royksopp have always been in the dance forum...
March 25, 200916 yr This song is amazing, I absolutely love the track and hope that given the right promo this could easily be a massive summer hit, I imagine the release date would be about June or July Quite possibly, this track could be my fave of 2009 already I love it THAT much And I agree, Royksopp definetly belong in the dance forum
March 25, 200916 yr It's in Indie/Alt because most of their following is from people with Indie/Alt taste, very Pitchfork sort of band. They don't really "fit" in this forum at all...
March 25, 200916 yr Author well I happen to disagree. I mean Prodigy are in this forum too arent they ;)
March 25, 200916 yr well I happen to disagree. I mean Prodigy are in this forum too arent they ;) Yeah they are. But nonetheless, even the featured artists on the album: Lykke Li, Karin Drejer etc. All totally out of place here. Also on last.fm "similar artists" (i.e. what the bulk of Röyksopp listeners also listen to) are listed as: Télépopmusik, Air, The Knife and Goldfrapp. None of whom would ever have a topic posted in here. Sometimes you need to look beyond basic genres and into the "scene" an act fits within to get the most enriched discussion...
March 25, 200916 yr Author yeah but they fit Kleerup, Goldfrapp (who have been discussed here before), Kosheen, Tiga, etc, all whom are discussed here. If we go that way, we might as well close the forum if half of the genre is getting posted somewhere else. You always seem them posted in dance forums across any messageboard, their songs are always played on dance music shows, that's just the genre they're in. We actually had 2 forums here, one for commercial, and one for more serious dance. When these were merged again, it didnt mean for the more serious dance to go anywhere else, its still meant to be discussed here. Anyway, the topic was started in the other forum first so might as well close this anyway. But please post future Royksopp topics in here.
March 25, 200916 yr Anyway, the topic was started in the other forum first so might as well close this anyway. But please post future Royksopp topics in here. Royksopp aren't Dance though, I think Alternative is the more appropriate place for them. They are more ambient/alternative as Jake says.
March 25, 200916 yr Author They're dance, even Pete Tong keeps plugging them on his show, they're on the dance charts, and they've always been posted here. Let's agree to disagree. The official dance top10 singles of last week: 1 3 Kid Cudi Vs Crookers Day 'n' Nite (Data) 2 6 Eric Prydz Pjanoo (Data) 3 NEW Royksopp Happy Up Here (Wall Of Sound) 4 NEW Doman & Gooding/dru & Lincoln Runnin' (Positiva) 5 4 Frankie Valli/The Four Seasons Beggin' (Sixsevenine) 6 2 Chase & Status Ft Kano Against All Odds (Ram) 7 10 Guru Josh Project Infinity 2008 (Maelstrom) 8 7 Rudenko Everybody (Data) 9 20 Reflekt Ft Delline Bass Need To Feel Loved (Positiva) 10 1 Prodigy Omen (Takemetothehospital) Its one thing to argue that maybe they're not suited to this particular dance forum due to the kind of people that post here (which I still disagree), but to say they arent dance is ridiculous. They are and will always be an electronica act.
April 5, 200916 yr I love this track, I just bought it off iTunes and I can't stop listening. Hadn't even heard of Royksopp before this though, what are their best tracks?
April 5, 200916 yr they are most certainly dance, I agree...maybe not the same sort of dance as Cascada and Fragma, but dance nonetheless in my opinion :D
April 5, 200916 yr They're dance, in the sense that you find them in the dance section in your local HMV, but they can lend themselves easily to pop and alternative. That aside anyway, this is a stormer of a track! Edited April 5, 200916 yr by ScottyEm
April 7, 200916 yr Don't know what to think of this but I'm sure it'll get better with a few more listens. Good thing the song features Robyn. :heehee:
April 7, 200916 yr Release, subject to possible change, has been confirmed as MAY 25TH 2009!!!! I'm glad they are releasing it then cos I was expecting a July/August release but maybe they want to get album sales up I want this tack to do so well, fingers crossed for an amazing video and a top 40 placing at least, this record deserves to be HUGE!!!!!
April 15, 200916 yr Apparently, this is the official video for the track, which i think is correct seeing as the track has a release date of May 25th but anyway... c3F5VN6XYhs If this IS the official video, then I think it is amazing, beautiful and fits the track perfectly, it looks too good and cinematic to be a fake video, but what does everyone think, I really would love for thi to get to number 1 but if it doesn't get top 40 at least, I will be devastated, easily best song of 2009 so far for me
April 15, 200916 yr it's not the official video :heehee: those are clips from the 1920's film 'Metropolis'!
