This song is amazing, I absolutely love the track and hope that given the right promo this could easily be a massive summer hit, I imagine the release date would be about June or July

It's in Indie/Alt because most of their following is from people with Indie/Alt taste, very Pitchfork sort of band. They don't really "fit" in this forum at all...

Yeah they are. But nonetheless, even the featured artists on the album: Lykke Li, Karin Drejer etc. All totally out of place here.

 

Also on last.fm "similar artists" (i.e. what the bulk of Röyksopp listeners also listen to) are listed as: Télépopmusik, Air, The Knife and Goldfrapp. None of whom would ever have a topic posted in here. Sometimes you need to look beyond basic genres and into the "scene" an act fits within to get the most enriched discussion...

yeah but they fit Kleerup, Goldfrapp (who have been discussed here before), Kosheen, Tiga, etc, all whom are discussed here.

 

If we go that way, we might as well close the forum if half of the genre is getting posted somewhere else. You always seem them posted in dance forums across any messageboard, their songs are always played on dance music shows, that's just the genre they're in. We actually had 2 forums here, one for commercial, and one for more serious dance. When these were merged again, it didnt mean for the more serious dance to go anywhere else, its still meant to be discussed here.

Royksopp aren't Dance though, I think Alternative is the more appropriate place for them. They are more ambient/alternative as Jake says.

They're dance, even Pete Tong keeps plugging them on his show, they're on the dance charts, and they've always been posted here. Let's agree to disagree.

Its one thing to argue that maybe they're not suited to this particular dance forum due to the kind of people that post here (which I still disagree), but to say they arent dance is ridiculous. They are and will always be an electronica act.

I love this track, I just bought it off iTunes and I can't stop listening. Hadn't even heard of Royksopp before this though, what are their best tracks?

they are most certainly dance, I agree...maybe not the same sort of dance as Cascada and Fragma, but dance nonetheless in my opinion :D

They're dance, in the sense that you find them in the dance section in your local HMV, but they can lend themselves easily to pop and alternative.

 

That aside anyway, this is a stormer of a track!

I'm glad they are releasing it then cos I was expecting a July/August release but maybe they want to get album sales up

 

I want this tack to do so well, fingers crossed for an amazing video and a top 40 placing at least, this record deserves to be HUGE!!!!!

If this IS the official video, then I think it is amazing, beautiful and fits the track perfectly, it looks too good and cinematic to be a fake video, but what does everyone think, I really would love for thi to get to number 1 but if it doesn't get top 40 at least, I will be devastated, easily best song of 2009 so far for me
