I've got semi 1 down to 19 and semi 2 down to 18.

Hmm...Nick has sent his votes for one semi, but I haven't received his for the other one which he said should be with me half an hour after he sent the first set.

 

Should be interesting. If he doesn't get them to me before his holiday, I might have to restrict Rich to voting in the other semi only. I haven't quite thought it through (so it may be unnecessary) but wouldn't it create some sort of unbalance if he only voted in one, while the other two vote in two?

 

Of course, this might all be a bit of a panic and they'll be in my inbox tomorrow morning.

after 4 days and a few listens each, I have finally finished getting through the marathon 48 songs and am about to cast my votes :cheer:

Semi 1 has 10 songs I want to give points to (great!), Semi 2 has 17 :wacko:

There was 18 for me... but I managed to get it down to 11, then 10... I will feel really bad for a certain country if it doesn't make it :cry: :drama:

then again, my top 3 songs in semi 1 are better than any of the 17 I love in semi 2...

all done, votes sent, that was pretty damn fantastic to be honest, and makes me glad that I didn't leave after all! here were my stats for both semis:

both semis were brilliant, semi 1 had the stronger songs at the top and probably the winner in it, but semi 2 had quality distributed throughout, with 17 songs rated 8 or more, I would have loved to have given points to all of them! There were a couple of quite awful songs in semi 2 though :( really shows up BJSCXIV in terms of quality, probably because I have just discovered a hell of a lot of fantastic songs in the last few days, whereas I discovered next to nothing good last month due to me already knowing nearly all of the songs...

Which reminds me of a proposition I've been wanting to put forward that I will elaborate on after the contest :o Would people be willing to allow optional voting in both semis, with the proviso of 'partnerships' created to ensure balanced voting? (i.e., before you vote in the other semi, you have to find someone in the other semi willing to vote in yours)

thats quite an interesting idea actually.

 

it would help to ensure all the finalists are of the highest possible standard.

currently there are two songs in semi 1 pulling away in joint lead.

just don't ban my semi 2 votes or Trashlexis won't be happy :heehee:

 

also I don't think that optional voting partnerships would work that well, because it might encourage friendly voting unless the 'partnerships' were drawn at random but then of course not everyone would want to do it...
