Radio Luxembourg scored 26 in the 30...but actually messed up on the week before. They missed out the Bay City Rollers! :o Luxembourg corrected it on a revised repeat on Sunday 13th Apr. Obviously they didn`t favour those teen bands very much, hence number ones for Guys And Dolls etc. THE SWEET were slightly less teenyboppers now, and more rocky. They were people that kind of thought that we bought the GOODIES for the fun of the A side...but really there were some rather naughty B sides, doubling up as a double A. Remember SICK MAN BLUES? Contrary to belief KEITH CHEGWIN was not a member of KENNY. Now who started that rumour....A re-issue from BOBBY GOLDSBORO was rather surprising, because in April 1968 it peaked at #2. Seven years on it did exactly the same! WIGAN`S OVATION re-worked a Northern Soul sound, also originally from 1968. ELTON JOHN got the #1 in the States but not it Britain. The SHADOWS got stung by the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest! As TEACH-IN "Ding Donged" all the way, with rather confused lyrics of "When your feeling alright, everything is uptight". GLORIA GAYNOR still proved unoriginal, as she sung the FOUR TOPS. Some Frenchy/Froggy type sounding chap called GILBERT BECAUD burbled on, as we watched the last edition of the GOLDEN SHOT on tv...Funnily BOB MONKHOUSE was not a fan of the French! Meanwhile, the fun continued as TELLY SAVALAS got micky poked by YIN AND YAN..."Don`t sing sweetheart". Weren`t those lollipops delicious?!
April 6, 200916 yr Do we talk about lollipops today, I used to love sucking lollipops when I was younger.

April 6, 200916 yr Author Shall we think of some songs with "Lollipops" in the title? Apart form Kojak! 2 to begin: Lollipop - Chordettes/Mudlarks 1958 Sunshine And Lollipops - Spanky And Our Gang 1967 Anymore?
April 6, 200916 yr Aqua - Lollipop (Candyman) :kink: Anyway, thanks Dave. I really hope Depeche Mode go top 20, but I don't think Calvin will be number one... OMG I haven't posted the Bullboard chart yet :o
April 6, 200916 yr If this is correct then Lady GaGa; The Noisettes & AR Rahman/Pussycat Dolls could have real competition for the UK#1 on Sunday. Hillsborough 20th anniversary song released Apr 6 2009 by Luke Traynor, Liverpool Echo A REWORKING of a Kop anthem marking the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster goes on sale today. Some of Liverpool’s best known musicians recorded a version of The Fields Of Anfield Road with former Liverpool FC players and members of the Hillsborough Families Support Group. More than 19,000 people have signed up to pre-order the single. :o The track can be downloaded on iTunes for 79p or bought from Liverpool’s Anfield stadium’s club shop, Liverpool FC stores and HMV in Liverpool for £1.99. All profits from the sale of the single goes towards the Hillsborough Families Support Group. The Fields of Anfield Road, inspired by Peter St John’s Irish folk ballad Fields of Athenry, has been reworked by the Anfield faithful over the years. Artists John Power, of the La’s, Peter Hooton, of The Farm, Nick Kilroe, from Echo and the Bunnymen, James Walsh, of Starsailor, and Rob Taylor of the Troubadours joined forces to record and produce the song. Also on the track is the Kop Choir, made up of ex-players Kenny Dalglish, Phil Thompson, John Aldridge, Bruce Grobbelaar, Howard Gayle and Alan Kennedy. The idea to release the song came from Liverpool’s Lord Mayor, Cllr Steve Rotheram. He said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the song already has so many supporters even before it was available to download. “But it is unsurprising as Hillsborough affected so many lives, not just on Merseyside but across the whole of the UK.” Log on to liverpoolecho.co.uk and click on the link to download your copy of the CD.
April 6, 200916 yr TiP, I think it's more Lady GaGa and Calvin Harris having competition. I don't think, frankly, Rahman/PCD or Noisettes have a hope in hell. But I agree with you anyway :P
April 6, 200916 yr It's nothing like that. Certainly not, it's not getting a massive, glitzy push. However, the causes are equally important. http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=2509182 Rich has already summed it up well enough here ^. I guess because you're american it's understandable. (Not stereotyping americans or anything, just that it were a British disaster.)
April 6, 200916 yr I'm not American, there's an English flag under my name! I was talking to _________________, but i just quoted you
