West End Girls are  but I fear they may get the same treatment as Sabrina did for Land Of Jack, i.e. some posters may feel that they are ruining the original PSB's songs :(

Yeah, I thought the exact same thing. I'm just so tempted to take a risk as I usually do, with unknown marmite artists.. Ideally a South African artist would suit my record but atm I'm running out of SA options (Still haven't used Josie Field, Flash Republic or Jax Panik though) but they aren't exactly winning entries so it's difficult, especially now that I've become more interested in getting a combination of a good result and a song that I love, which is at the same time original. High standards but in the end worth it. :heehee:

I've decided to listen to some La Roux songs.

Reflections Are Protections: Arghh...amazing!

I'm Not Your Toy: Not great, very meh.

Bulletproof: Good, I like it, not as much as Reflections Are Protections though.

Fascination: It's another very good track!

If you don't send La Roux, and I don't get my hands on Booty Luv, then I may be very tempted to send Reflections Are Protections :)

Kath, Monrose could be a good choice. Depends on the song though, which one do you want to enter with?

PS: I see now Hit 'n Run. Interestingly no one entered yet with Shame (their first and best so far imo )

And someone KEPT telling that they are sick of cheap! -_-

Trying to visit a thread, why the arrow thing at the right side of the title is after the page buttons??

I LOVE 'Shame', 'Temptation' is my fave Monrose album but it is pretty dated now and their last album turned out like a "Catfights and Spotlights"-flop.. "Shame" is their signature song but I just don't see the average BJ member liking the song, ballads to take their time to grow and it's not so easy appreciating Shame on first listen, where Hit N Run is upbeat electro to the max with a repetitive catchy chorus - and I'm guessing on bjsc most make assumptions of songs on first listen only so HNR is the best candidate especially looking back on how 'Hot Summer', another German #1 failed to qualify some ten contests ago =|

 It's my new persian way of making topic titles fancy that switches the arrows and numbers the wrong way round. SO original aren't I?

I'm not sure you couldn't have success with Shame. And Hot Summer really flopped? Another great track from them :o :(

Now, I wonder how did that happen?

National Finals Vol. 8

01. Heinz Winckler - Drowning Me
Leading the race we have another SA Idol winner, he came 4th in the World Idols competition (Kelly Clarkson came 2nd). This is a STUNNING song, honestly if you hate male pop artists then this song is where it'll stop. Most haunting, emotional but still very catchy ballad ever. Not on youtube though, but on Last.fm - http://www.last.fm/music/Heinz+Winckler/Co...ive/Drowning+Me

02. Jamali - Maisha
The girls look very likely to return to BJSC, with an afro pop masterpiece that will get you dancing again. Definitely a big contender.

03. Flash Republic - Twister
Indie electronica backed with female vocals, a group which got unfairly copied by the Ting Tings. Definitely a major contender as well, great great catchy song. Huge in SA atm.

04. Karen Zoid - Aeroplane Jane
Last but not least, we have SA's very own trainwreck artist, Karen Zoid with her summer SMASH "Aeroplane Jane" - should intrigue most of Buzzjack, likely to be loved on first listen as well.

Help and opinions needed DEARLY, really tough competition this month, the songs that lose out will also be extremely likely candidates for the next contest. So please help me :snif: - I'll return the favor by listening to your national final. Thanxxx. :o

my opinions Kath :D

01. Heinz Winckler - Drowning Me - really liked this song on first listen, very pleasant ballad, would absolutely flop in BJSC though, there is no sort of market for this kind of thing on here :snif:

02. Jamali - Maisha - didn't like it much at all, not a patch on the amazing Secrets :(

03. Flash Republic - Twister - is that Nicola from Girls Aloud? :heehee: not a bad song, I can see your Ting Tings comparison...*quite* enjoyed this

04. Karen Zoid - Aeroplane Jane - love the video! it's the sequel to Scooch's Flying The Flag (For You)! The song has a good hook, might win over the quirky voters (me and a few others) but the R&B/pure pop lovers probably wouldn't go for it at all...

overall:

Heinz would not be a good choice, he'd flop without a doubt, there is no market for male pop ballads on BJSC, Jamali's song is quite weak for me and if the stunning Secrets couldn't qualify, I doubt Maisha could. I'd pick either Flash Republic or Karen Zoid, although neither are anywhere near the same league as 'Wind It', both might get 1-4 points from FSR Rontvia...Karen Zoid slightly more than Flash Republic I should think

Oh garn, thanks Rich. I remember you not liking any other Jamali song but Secrets. 'Maisha' is my 2nd favourite, Secrets 3rd and Butterflies 1st - it has massive appeal imo.. But then again I'm not exactly the typical British music listener so I tend to enjoy traditional SA stuff more.

Heinz point taken.

Hmmm a pity about Karen and FR not being in the same league as Jody though, all of these finalist I picked are former SA no.1s (which is rare because its either TI or Rihanna on top of SA charts etc).. I tend to lean more to Flash Republic though <3

But then again I still HAVE-TO send Hakimakli though - which I think fits more into the Kate Ryan category than the language barrier category.

Would also love to send Nicole S/Sting duet still or taking a risk with West End Girls.

Wasnt confident with Monrose though.. If they flopped with their signature song Hot Summer - sending them now wouldn't be a good idea

Oh and thanks so much, will pop into your national thread in a bit to see your contenders which I hope are in the 'Me and Armini' category .. :o

I hope u will be able sending Nicole/Sting ...I mean I like Flash Rep aswell but still nothing close as Nicole/Sting

Dilly Dally? There is an English version, but I prefer the French.

Will listen the current songs when I'm home.

I would actually send it. It's the most stunning I've heard in ages and now that I've appreciated Takin Back My Love/Breathing Your Love - I think it would do equally as well but if Jack would just unconfirm PCD, I might finalize on that OR go with Flash Republic for traditional reasons OR go Hakimakli for the fun of it. HARD.

Ah Thanks. OMFG, Dilly Dally is the $h!t. The English version is hardly different to the French though, I think its just a few verses in English of which are badly constructed sentences making it sound even more foreign.

Ultimate club song, tbh. Even better than the David Guetta/Kelly Rowland combination imo ..

Agreed. France is putting out some awesome dance at the moment  Wanted to enter Laurent Wolf - No Stress, but a bit cheap now...

I definitely hear the famous melody in the Aeroplane Jane song  But i'm poor in finding out which songs artists covered etc... I can be wrong about this song using some older song though. Didn't like Jamali's song :( AND I'VE HEARD SECRETS for the first time! :w00t: Very good! Drowning Me is quite good but not my type of male vocalists. And my fave is Flash Republic band. They are DAMN GOOD! Insanely catchy song!

lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll 01. Flash Republic - Twister

KTDZ Updatee:

I've just recently bought Jody's album and its my album of the year so far <33

So she's the very likely candidate for XVII, hopefuly she wins this time. :o Was going to use "Shout It Out" but its a bit too "Wind It"-ish. But there's two IMMENSE stand-out up-tempo ballads, insanely catchy beats to match her stunning vocals. Stuck on "Just Gonna Be Me" and "Who I Am".. Nobody here's heard it though, duh, but the Wind It-haters are likely to adore these two this time. So I think we could easily make another comeback..

Based on how well Florence and Marina did in the last contest I might switch to Flash Republic's "Twister" or "Star" though, but will see what comes up over the next few weeks.. :o
